decent softs.

spent way way too much time writing (and rewriting) my personal statement. also submitted optional diversity statement where possible.

Additional info & updates

Apps submitted late November.

Dec 19th: In at NYU. Damn near ripped the acceptance letter because the envelope was so difficult to open..

Jan 11th: Faculty Review at Berkeley.

Feb 18th: Berkeley declines my offer to enliven their school with my sparkling personality.

Feb 28th: Starting to get pretty anxious about Columbia and Chicago. Why oh why have you forsaken me?

Mar 1st: Held at Harvard via email. It's like when you hit on a girl and she tells you she likes you... as a friend. (I'm listing the 'held' as 'waitlisted' since (1) LSN has no 'hold' option and (2) they probably both feel equally shitty.

hey, good luck to you too! my gpa is slightly higher (not significantly) so we're even closer than it looks. and i do hope they don't average :-/ how'd you do the first time? i'm hoping they'll just be impressed with the 177 regardless of the first fail (fail for me.)

Good Luck!

I'm going under the assumption that any time before Thanksgiving is not "late in the cycle." I mean, we just barely made that deadline, but at least they're in!

not so twin..

my numbers are fudged, but thanks and good luck regardless! since you're only 1-2 years out of undergrad, i'm curious-- what makes you non-trad?

I got a 166 the first time.. I must have really been freaked out because that was lower than my first diagnostic I took before even cracking a book, so I dunno what happened there. And yea I've heard from some places that they pay more attention when there's a big gap, but if you think about it that doesn't really make sense. It just means you did better than me the first time around which I would think is better... anyway I guess we'll see. I'm sure they'll still appreciate a 177!
