Additional info & updates

01/16/07 - Phone call from dean of admissions at WNEC. $22,000/yr renewable scholarship as long as I stay in top half of class.

01/18/07 - Big, white envelope from Widener. Enclosed info about a minority scholarship up to $5,000/yr, which Widener would match. But it's not guaranteed - I would have to apply for it. wanh wanh...

01/24/07 - Phone call from Steve Freedman, associate director of admissions at Drexel. Jaw-dropping offer of full-scholarship for 3 years.

01/25/07 - Acceptance letter from Louisville - I'm overjoyed!!! No mention of $ in the letter, though :o( U of L is my first choice, but it will be hard to walk away from Drexel's offer...

01/26/07 - Waitlisted from Seton Hall. Not one of my top choices. I'm withdrawing.

01/27/07 - Waitlisted from Hofstra. I'm withdrawing.

02/10/07 - Accepted to part-time program at Penn State, though I applied for full-time.

02/23/07 - Email with revised offer from Penn State. Acceptance to full-time program with Dean's Scholarship of $6,000/yr

02/26/07 - small envelope from quinnipiac containing two letters. One was notice of acceptance, other was scholarship offer for $25,000/yr

03/08/07 - Just got back from long weekend in Louisville, where I met with a student and attended the open house. Though I am still very impressed with the program and the mission of the law school, I don't think that I can afford to attend, particularly when I was led to believe I would never get approved for residency despite my plans to stay in louisville after graduation.

03/11/2007 - Spent the whole day at Drexel yesterday. Wow - I could not have been more impressed. Everything about the school felt right and I can't imagine myself anywhere else. I had planned to wait until I had heard from all the schools to which I applied before making a decision, but after what I saw, I am sure that Drexel is where I want to be.

03/19/2007 - Received a letter of rejection from Pace University. Kind of surprised at this one, but I did completely ignore their invitation to interview.

LSDAS compiles all your grades from every school - so if you have less stellar grades from a previous (not degree-granting) institution, they will weigh that in. Also, I think withdrawn classes, not complete, etc calculate negatively. If you're really worried, contact your schools, telling them that you will be contacting the LSAC to determine how they figured your grades so low. If it's justified, then send an addendum.

Thanks! No mention of money at all in the letter. I'm hoping that maybe I'll get a letter in a few weeks with a scholarship offer, but then again, I've heard that U of L is pretty stingy with the money.

Congrats...

on Widener! I don't know if I'll hear from them - I sent my app electronically and couldn't attach my resume or anything :-/

Drexel E-mail

I just got the exact same e-mail, and I share your sentiments!! Hopefully not an office mixup. I replied saying that I wanted to confirm my acceptance since I hadn't gotten a call yet and would love to visit if I am accepted. Let's hope we don't have to come back and change our status!! ugh

I'm sure I'll be at one of them, unless I choose another school before that...I have a ton of decisions still up in the air.

That's TIGHT!

I know Drexel would be hard to leave behind but there's a reason Louisville was 1st right? Go with your gut, pray about it, and know you're blessed!

Steve Freedman and the rest of the Drexel admissions staff seem like an awesome group of people. They definitely made Drexel my top choice. Congratulations on an awesome cycle, and hope to meet you at A.S. day in March.

Congrats on making a decision! What did you love so much about Drexel? I am going to ASW on 3/24 and I am very torn between Drexel, Temple and Miami so just looking for some other opinions...

Hi Radin, Sorry we didn't meet. I was there too on the 10th and loved it, but haven't signed on the dotted line yet. I'm trying to pick from other Philly schools...did you get the sense that being the "new school" is not hurting the students at all? It seems as if they are getting great summer jobs.

Congrats!

You're so blessed to already know where you're going... and that scholarship is awesome!

Just checking to see how you are doing. Saw our photos on the Drexel website (AS day). God I was so sick that weekend with a sinus infection. Really starting to get nervous. Trying to enjoy my last few months of getting a paycheck, but so excited to start school too!

I haven't started looking for anything yet. I thought I read somewhere you were planning on living in South Philadelphia. I am planning on coming back in late July/ early August to start looking. Do you think this will be too late? Anywhere you recommend?
