Additional info & updates

Waitlisted at South Texas and Western New England...no big surprise considering how late it is...at least they aren't denials right?? haha. Still waiting to hear from University of Houston.... but on a lighter note, I am moving to Oklahoma in June! :O) so it doesn't matter what these schools tell me at this point!!

4-19-10
denied to St. Mary's. Bummer. Oh well, I had already decided to move to Oklahoma City and I already signed a lease! :O) YAY FOR MOVING TO A NEW STATE!

4-6-10
Decision made at Florida Coastal. Accepted to the full-time fall 2010 program with a governor's scholarship. $4,000 per year! Decision made today at St. Mary's...too bad they did not tell me online. I have to wait for a letter. Bummer. Decision made at Mercer in March, but I forgot to update!

2-24-10
Got the rejection letter from LSU. I knew it was coming....
OKCU is getting closer and closer to the top...come on Texas schools, give me some news so I can have some closure!!

2-17-10
I just got home from my trip to Oklahoma City University. The trip was great, and the school was beautiful. The campus of OKCU is very small, but it has beautiful buildings with historic features. The law school was pretty nice. It was somewhat small as well. The people were extremely friendly and helpful, and I could see myself here.

Oklahoma City was a great place to live. There was hardly any traffic, it was easy to get around the city because it was built on a grid system, and there were a lot of great apartments that were very affordable! So, this school is probably the top choice as of right now. I would still prefer to study in Texas, so I waiting to here from those schools, but if I can't, OKCU Law would be a great choice for me!

2-6-10
got my letter from Texas Tech. I was somewhat expecting a denial, but there was still hope left in me....oh well. You would think a Texas school would give preference to their residents. apparently not.

I have decided that this whole law school application process is a joke. If you had a crappy GPA (and I mean about 2.5 or lower) and make a great LSAT score, you still get in to a great school. why would admissions committee think these people are better students? Most of the people didn't care about their undergrad work and that is why the GPA is so low! ridiculous! just my rant for the day.

I am still super-pumped to visit OK City Law School next week. There are a lot of opportunities for both me and my fiance in that town, so I hope I enjoy my visit and love the school!! And it is close enough to Texas that we could easily visit our families often if we need to.

2-5-10
Good news came today via email! Accepted to Charlotte Law with a $5000 merit scholarship that is renewable each year! Great way to begin a weekend!! One of my college roommates lives in Charlotte and loves it, so it is something to consider!

2-4-10
decision rendered at Texas Tech today...I have a feeling I already know what it is, just by the luck (haha) that I have had lately with law school admissions! I applied for the early acceptance program, so it is about time that they make a decision!

I really wish all the schools I applied to would just let me know! If they are going to send a denial, I do not understand why they wait until February, March, or later! Just give me the bad news and let me move forward with the schools that did accept me!

I need to begin making plans for my fiance and I to move, and for him to find a job, and I really excited for the process to be over and to begin law school! just some of my thoughts for the day.

2-1-10
Rejected from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock...I am becoming used to these rejections....I am not sure what is lacking in my packet besides a better LSAT score....

I am visiting OKCU Law this month, and I am pretty excited! This may be where I end up going and I hope the trip goes really well!!

1-21-10
More rejections...one of my top picks, Texas Wesleyan, and Loyola in New Orleans...but Loyola offered me an invitation to the summer conditional program...I am not sure if I am going to take this offer or not.

apparently my crappy LSAT score is a bigger factor than I really thought.

1-19-10
So I have received a few rejection letters in the past week...University of Mississippi, Creighton University, and Washburn University..this is not a good way to start the new year...I still have not heard any news from any Texas schools, which is where I really want to practice!!

12-18-09
Accepted to Mississippi College. Great early Christmas present! :O) There was even a personal, hand-written letter from the dean on the admissions letter.

12-18-09
Rejected by New York Law School via status checker. It would have been a stretch to try to afford this school, but I would have loved to move to NYC! Such an amazing city.

11-24-09
Rejected from the University of Oklahoma...somewhat expected.

11-13-09
Admitted to Oklahoma City Law via status checker!!! I am pretty excited about this acceptance :O)

11-12-09
Just got accepted to Thomas Cooley (big packet of info)! Awarded a scholarship in the amount of 25% of the tuition! It is a great feeling knowing that I did get accepted somewhere and that I will be going to law school in the Fall!!

11-08-09
Rejected from the University of Arkansas (small white envelope).

11-1-09
Rejected from the University of Tulsa (small white envelope).

-----------------------------
I am applying for the Fall 2010 semester.

Right now, I am working towards my MBA and will graduate in May 2010. It just worked out better for me earn this degree first.

I took the LSAT twice...I should have just taken my chances with the first time, since the second time, the score was even worse.

My LSAT score is less than I had hoped. I am going to see how this cycle turns out. Hopefully something positive will come out of it, and maybe some schools will look at other factors in my packet! :O)

I am a good student that works hard and is focused on school. The LSAT does not reflect my abilities in school...neither did the GMAT, SAT, or ACT..and yes, I took all of these tests, did horrible on all of them, and have good grades. I have been successful in college and graduate school, both in the classroom and with extracurricular activities.

My goal is to have HOPE during this process. Everything happens for a reason.

Are you applying for Spring or Fall 2010? How did you hear back from Tulsa so quickly? Did you get the "we received your application" letter before the rejection? We're sort of close in numbers and applied to a lot of the same schools, so feel free to "watch" my profile to see where I hear back from...Good luck!

I'm sorry about your TxWes news but congrats on all your other acceptances! At least you're going to law school. I have a question-my status checker went to 'file in review' today. How long after your file went into review did it take to hear? Sorry, I'm just really nervous and ready to find out something! Thanks for any help!

Don't take the rejections personal. The applications this year are up 20-40% because of the bad economy. Schools can afford to be even more selective than they ordinarily would be.

I have a former co-worker who attends OCU, he likes it as much as I know.

LSAT v GPA
Monday, June 08 2009 at 08:00 PM

Absolutely LSAT scores make a big difference. My GPA is not a reflection of my overall grades, I have an addendum about that, so mine is not as much of a cripple as it should be. However, yeah I had a adviser from MSU tell me that LSAT score is like 75% of the decision. I spent tons of time prepping for that test. Nerves got the best of me though, while my practice test was like at 167 I only made 159. That's still 78th percentile though, so not terrible. Anyway, not get too sad about it, you're still in somewhere, and it may end up being the best thing for you.

Agreed

Yeah, I wish they would too so I could have had more options to apply to, but unfortunately that's just the way it is. Life just stinks sometimes.

Decision
Monday, June 08 2009 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on making your decision, I'm sure it'll work out for the best. I'm still deciding between St. Mary's, Michigan State, and South Texas and still waiting on UNC and Miami so I still have a little whiles to go but I'll probably end up dropping a second deposit.

Congratulations

Congratulations on moving to OK. I've heard it is really a great school. Good luck to you in the future.
