Additional info & updates

09/13: Placed on Duke's PR after applying PT. Very disappointed. I hope this is no indication of what to expect the rest of my cycle.

09/26: Completed interview with Vanderbilt alum. Pretty laid back. Breakfast near the beach.

09/30: Sent emails to all schools (except Duke) stating that I wouldn't be taking Oct LSAT due to unforseen circumstances, but Dec instead. Cornell, Chicago, Stanford and Minnesota explicitly stated that they would hold my application until the new score in Dec. Hopefully I will not be anywhere else rejected b4 then.

10/19: Had a phone meeting with Dean Hoye to clarify some things about my application. Received an email an hour later that I was IN!!!!!!!! So Elated! He had very good things to say about my personal statement. Looks like my cycle won't be so bad after all.

10/22: UR at NYU. It's a stretch, but at this point $12 is all I have to lose.

10/29: IN at UT Austin via voicemail!

11/5: After further thought, decided to email Cornell, Chicago and Minnesota back to request that they not hold my application until Dec LSAT. If I have any chance of squeezing in because of an earlier application, I want to capitalize on that. I did not email Stanford, however. Early or not, it will probably take a miracle to get in and I will be better off really trying to get a higher LSAT.

11/11: Received an email from UVA on Veteran's day wishing me a Happy V-Day and informing me of my acceptance :)

11/19: IN @G-Town via snail mail.

11/20: Received official acceptance from Michigan after
sneaking into the Admitted Students Site the day prior.

12/3: UCR at Upenn

12/7: UR at Cornell

12/23: In @ Cornell 2 days b4 Xmas! So happy to have such great acceptances in the bag b4 Dec results. The more I wait, the more I feel like I didn't do so well :-(

01/06: Dec LSAT results r in. 5 point improvement!!! Woo-f'ing-hoo!!!!!!! I was hoping for a 170, but it is what is...OVER!

01/10: WL at UChicago. Not sure if they received my new LSAT, since I asked them to go ahead and review my app with the current stats. Oh well, can't say that I'm hurt (ok maybe a little)

01/11: Held at Harvard!!!!!! Nothing like false hope to keep me going!

01/12: Emailed Chicago to ask if they received my new score b4 deciding. Once u request that they complete your file, they will not add anything else. So they did not take into acct my new score. Maybe the new score will get me off the waitlist. One can only dream...

01/21: In at Penn via phone call! I

1/19: UR at Stanford after calling to remind them that I really do exist.

01/25: WL @UMinn. Applied as a safety but after their last snowstorm and WL, I was happy to withdraw my app immediately.

01/26: UR@USC

01/27: Held @ NWU. I'm a little hurt considering all of my work exp. Will submit a LOCI and see what happens. I'm a Non-Trad so NWU is high on my list.

01/27: In @ GSU. Super cheap tuition and free rent. Ugh! Why is law so prestige-driven :(

3/28: It's getting down to the wire. Withdrawing from 6 schools today. More to come very soon...

Congrats on Duke. Do you have a favorite school?

Thanks kdubb! Duke was one of my top choices due to the lower COL, small class and mild climate. I hate the cold, but may be willing to suck it up if I have to.

Always good to see another JAG person. Hopefully my cycle ends up like yours. I had a late start because in the Army we deploy forever it seems like.

Thank you!
