Additional info & updates

-I'm interested in copyright/media/entertainment law.
-I'll be paying for law school 100% with loans, so staying as debt-free as possible was important for me.
-I took the December LSAT and wasn't sure if I wanted to wait a year over break...so this delayed my applications and I'm sure hurt my chances for admissions/ money.

Accepted at UF today! 8 1/2 x 11 white gator skin envelope with financial aid info, acceptance letter, and immunization forms. Very excited. UF is one of my top choices. How awesome that it came first?

02/20/08
Checked the Stetson status checker even though it has only been a week, and it changed to Decision Mailed today. Good news a-comin'??

02/23/08
Got my Stetson acceptance folder in a white large envelope. Lots of information. Nothing about $$ though.

03/06/08
Accepted to FSU via phone call this morning. Then a small letter came in the mail. The state of Florida officially loves me!

Today I came back from SB with my first rejection-Emory. Expected...

Tulane status checker changed to "Decision has been made." From reading LSD, it seems that those that are accepted get an email the same day their status checker changes. Also, it usually changes to "Congrats!..etc" So it looks like I probably got rejected from Tulane. This is probably a good time to admit that I made a significant error on my Tulane file. Let this be a lesson to those in the 08-09 cycle...triple check your attached documents before you send them. On my addendum, I cut&pasted from another school's addendum, and somehow left "UNC" where "Tulane" should have been. Then my personal statement was about how I'm an editor with great attention to detail. I sent a revised addendum, but they couldn't remove the original (I actually asked the girl, since she seemed to be pretty nice). I kicked myself for like a week straight. Sigh. Who knows if that made or break my acceptance, though. I do have a low LSAT, and it seems that the LSAT weighs somewhat heavy with them. I'm pretty bummed, although Tulane was financially a bit out of reach. NOLA would have been fun...

Well, I figured since I hadn't heard from USC and Chicago-Kent, I was going to be WL or rejected. Today my suspicion was confirmed for Univ. South Carolina; I was WL. I am surprised--they are def. a target school; I even considered it a safety because my resume is very strong. But who cares? Unless UNC pulls through I'm gonna be a litiGATOR:)

My cycle wrapped up this week! I was shocked to get WL at UNC. Honestly, if that just happened a little earlier, I might have really thought about hopping on the WL. After Admitted Student Day at UF, I realized I'd really enjoy sticking it out here for a few more years. It's a great deal financially and academically, and...3 more years of gator football!

In other news, I got an email today congratulating me on my acceptance to Chicago-Kent. Cool, I really didn't expect another acceptance this late:)

Overall very satisfied with my cycle. Did a lot better than I thought I would with the mediocre LSAT.

I think you'll be fine with Emory. It seems to me that they like high GPAs this cycle (my acceptance is a case in point). They make merit/need-based scholarship offers in March, so depending on that outcome, I'll see you there.

In general, state schools are really cheap when it comes to scholarship monies. But I remember one person with an index similar to ours getting money on this site either last year or the year before, so there's hope. Also, you applied kinda late to get the big offers from your safeties. So your offers would be hard to predict.

Wow! Congrats on UF! Its amazing you got accepted so quickly, hopefully I hear from them soon.

Schools

Yeah I applied at a bunch of schools because I am torn between going to a really good school or an ok school with a full ride. I can't wait to hear from Stetson, I keep checking their site for an update. That would probibly be my top choice if I get a good scholarship.

Chicago-Kent

I have no idea really what got me the scholarship but I imagine it was a combination of all that you mentioned. Congrats on UF, which I feel is a better option than Kent.

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words about Tulane. The $$ definitely caused it to shoot to the top of my list. I'm jealous that UF has already gotten back to you. I have a feeling they won't like my GPA. Even if I get in, though, Tulane would still be a very attractive option. Good luck!

Oh yeah

Also, you have way better soft factors than me. I expect good news from Tulane for you in the near future.

FSU $
Monday, October 08 2007 at 08:00 PM

Actually the $1,000 is just for one year and its not really a scholarship, its a grant. I found out about it after checking my status on the Financial Aid Student Toolkit and so I gave them a call to see what exactly it was. They said it was basically a "congratulations on getting in all your financial aid documents early" grant that was given out to all graduate students who submit their fafsa, need based form, etc. on a first come, first serve basis until the funds run out. They apparently do this every year, so it is theoretically possible to get the grant all three years.

Wow... Congrats.

On both UF and FSU. I got my acceptance call from FSU yesterday and I am going to visit both schools soon. I am still pulling for UT and UF. Where do you think you might go?

UNC
Wednesday, December 12 2007 at 07:00 PM

I am considering UNC, but probably prefer Maryland. They are both identical in rankings. Although I wouldnt pick a school simply because its ranked highest, I want to attend a top 50. I really dont want to bash UNC too much, but several people weere rude to me. Also class sizes are much larger than maryland. Now for the positives; although I like Maryland (the school) better, I would get instate tuition at UNC and the raleigh/chapel hill area is unbeatable. So basically at this point I have to see how much financial help Maryland will give me. I would suggest applying to Wake forest too and they give a lot of money out. Its about 70 miles west of UNC. Good Luck and dont worry too much about your LSAT.

Congrats on a great cycle. That UF acceptance is great. If you think you're headed to UF, could you please withdraw from UNC?

YES!

Lol, yes there is a chance of me staying at UF! Haha, way to go, Gator, as I see that\'s what you\'re doing, as well. Shoot me an e-mail whenever.
