Additional info & updates

Looking for any decent school that won't cause me to sell my soul to repay my student loan debt. Money is the biggest factor since I've already racked up a large bill.

Updates:

6/4/07

Deferred Acceptance from St. Louis granted, money rolled over

10/4/07

Accepted by phone call to Arkansas Fayetville, with a $19,000 scholarship

10/31/07

Talked to the assistant director of admissions at Phoenix Law and received an $18,000/yr offer.

Finished my applications!...and I'm exhausted. Filled out 19 total, and pretty much applied to all of the schools that I'm interested in (mostly state schools). Might fill out one or two more if I get fee waivers or if I get a better score in Dec./Feb. Also want to apply to Tennesee Knoxville but will do that after the Dec. test.

Let's see who says yes.

12/6/07

Got into KU!!! Got a phone call from the admissions office offering me a seat for the 2008 year. Was extremely excited as KU was one of my top choices. Went to the mail box 30 min. later and got waitlisted at OU...not going to let it kill my buzz though.

12/10/07

Received acceptance letter from LSU. Also got the KU letter in the mail. 5-0-1...so far so good.

12/13/07

Received a scholarship letter from LSU for $4,545/yr.

12/20/07

Received phone call from the Dean of Admissions at Nebraska with a "Christmas" acceptance.

12/22/07

Received acceptance letter from FIU at my home address. Included a nice personal note from the Dean of Admissions.

12/24/07

Called my roommate who is at our apartment in Tallahassee while I'm away on break and found out that KU gave a $12,500 scholarship for the first year, renewable for up to $5,000 for the second year. What a Christmas present!!

01/22/08

Rejected by Temple.

01/23/08

Rejected by Houston.

1/31/08

Rejected by Georgia.

2/11/08

Rejected by UConn.

2/13/08

Rejected by Kentucky.

2/14/08

Accepted by Ave Maria via email. $28,500 scholarship.

2/19/08

Admitted to UF!!!!!!!!!!! After being waitlisted last year and trying to figure out how I was going to pay for an out of state or private law school, the law gods hooked me up with in-state tuition! I feel incredibly fortunate and will work extremely hard when I get down there.

You too, good luck! You're already in two schools? That's amazing.

Yes, I feel that I'm out of W&L's range as well, but they emailed me and their application is free, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Let's see what happens. They'll probably have a massive influx of applications this year. Acceptance rate for '08 will be ~10%, haha.

Similar Numbers
Monday, October 22 2007 at 08:00 PM

Looks like we have similar numbers and a couple schools in common. I may retake in Dec. as well, but I'm a little discouraged as I only improved 4 points from my first practice (after 4 months of studying) and don't feel as if I have the time/resources to significantly change my results. Good luck with your schools!

First, congratulations on your results so far. 3 for 3 and money from everywhere, including the glorious University of Arkansas. Very nice. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. Getting wait listed at OU doesn't really surprise me though. I figured that would probably happen since I applied so early and that I would get in later in the cycle. Based on last year's numbers here and the data sheets from LSAC, it seems like a lot of people that got admitted were either using OU for a safety or got more money from somewhere else and went there instead. So really, I'm on track so far. Take it easy and I'm sure we'll be in touch over the cycle.

Yea I got a 160 :-D. Did your GPA go up? Congrats on your acceptances. Decisions in October, impressive. I'm still waiting to hear from my schools.

Congrats

Yeah, congrats to you as well. I got my actual acceptance letter yesterday. In case your curious, it states that they will consider us for scholarships at some later date.

Thanks for the congrats on FSU. I think you have a really good shot at both UF and FSU. Either way, it looks like you will have a lot of options to choose from! Good luck.

Congrats on all of your acceptances as well (and a lot of scholarship money too!) Which school are you leaning towards based on your acceptances so far?

KU

I used to live in KC and visited Lawrence often, it is a really fun town. I wouldn't say Tulane is a definite, but it is pretty close. I'm waiting on decisions at a couple other schools and notification of any scholarship offers from a couple schools that could impact my decision, but I'm not expecting anything that would change my mind.

Asian is not urm

I was just wondering, but...I don't think asian americans qualify as urm.

So you're definitely going to UF? Congrats! It's weird that we were in it together at the beginning of each of our cycles and now yours has come to an end. Good luck with everything!

Congrats on getting into Florida! I got in recently too. I visited the school today and really liked it, so there is a really good chance I'll be attending. Maybe I'll see ya in the Fall =)

FSU
Sunday, July 08 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the well wishes on Ole Miss, but it appears that I made it into Florida State today. I'm now leaning hard towards FSU. What are your thoughts on the school? I'm sure that it's great, and it will probably be where I end up now, but nothing beats the opinion of someone who has actually attended. Thanks again.

Thanks, and congrats to yourself! I am going to be traveling to Tally and G-Ville over the course of the next 3 weeks. It's a tough decision for me, but a good one to have!
