Additional info & updates

Apps are to schools all over the place, I know, but there's a method to my madness.

1/16/08 - Finally starting to get most of my applications out. Who knows when I'll start getting some decisions, but at least it's a start.

1/18/08 - All my apps are in.

2/18/09 - Just got a fee waiver for Alabama via e-mail. Thinking about throwing an app their way, for shits and giggles.

2/19/08 - In at DePaul with $18K per year. I guess I'm officially going to law school? The GPA requirement is something I'd like to negotiate, but it's good to know that at least someone likes me a little.

2/19/08 - Also, I saw that my application with Tulane has gone in for review. Hold your ears, folks.

2/20/08 - In at Tulane via e-mail. Wow that was a quick turnaround. I guess they really liked me. Scholarship info is apparently in the mail. Definitely my top choice so far.

2/25/08 - Dean's scholarship for $20,000 a year at Tulane! I'm more than thrilled. Tulane just shot up to the top of my list, if it wasn't there already. Still waiting on that Florida decision, but this kind of money could definitely make me pass up in-state tuition.

3/22/08 - Got a letter from UF saying that all the spots for fall 08 had been offered and that i have the option of going on a waitlist. Considering Tulane's offer, I'm not sure I'm gonna place myself on the WL. A little disappointing/perplexing, but such is life.

4/15/08 - Tulane, it is. See you guys in the Fall.

4/30/08 - Notified by e-mail that I'll be receiving an acceptance packet in the mail from Chicago-Kent. A little late in the game, don't ya think? It's immediately going in the trash unless there's a full-ride attached with it.

5/05/08 - Got $20K per year at Chicago-Kent. This means that this scholarship is equal in money to Tulane (with a slightly more stringent GPA requirement). If the tuition was significantly cheaper at Kent then I might be tempted to head up to Chicago, but it's almost exactly the same. This makes it official: I'll be joining the Tulane Law class of 2011!

5/23/08 - Letter in the mail from FSU saying I have been accepted. I didn't even ever go complete there. I apologize to those who really want in: I didn't mean it, I promise! Financial aid is on the way, apparently, but I'm not sure even a full ride would pry me away from Tulane.

you should add a few more T2s to your list as safeties. UM and Stetson might be good if you plan on staying in FL.

I've seen you on LSD and just wanted to say not to feel too bad about your LSAT. Perhaps you can take a summer school class quick to hopefully help the gpa out a bit?

We have really similar stats and both go to Florida, goodluck on your cycle!

Your choices...
Sunday, July 22 2007 at 08:00 PM

I just looked over your choices again and I think you did a great job of picking schools. Not only are they all great schools (I think) but you canvased a great range for your GPA/LSAT. If you have a good cycle you could really have a tough choice ahead between a lot of great schools!!! (and when are you sending apps out, BTW?)

On Tulane. We've got pretty similar numbers and the school is a top choice of mine b/c of their comparative/international program's rep. I just got an e-mail about a week ago that my file is complete. The website says the file is eligible for review but no word past that. That's great you had such a quick turn around...I'll hope for the same!

I'm stunned that you were WL at UF. That stinks!!!

UF Waitlist letter

Just wondering what size the envelope was that your waitlist letter came in and what did it look like? I'm scared to see what is going to be in my mailbox!

Yeah, that scholarship from Tulane is awesome. I hope you really like NOLA, I've been a few times and I thought it was a great city with tons of personality. It seems like it would be a great place to spend 3 years. :-)

hey

Glad to hear they dropped that charge (I remember you first talking about it on LSD...such BS). You think you're going to end up at Tulane?

uf
Friday, May 11 2007 at 08:00 PM

we were in pretty similar shape when it comes to UF. I'm a florida resident, didn't go there undergrad. I had a higher lsat than you but slightly lower grades. I had an underage drinking ticket, but for some reason UF wanted extra documentation about it and I never sent it to them, so i guess I'll never hear from them. Congrats on Tulane, honestly I'm curious as to why I haven't heard from them yet. Good luck in New Orleans though, it's a cool place.

Waitlisted at UF
Wednesday, January 09 2008 at 07:00 PM

I ended up getting waitlisted as well. I'm going to Case Western, probably even if I do get in off of the waitlist. Kind of a bummer though!

Tulane v. UF
Wednesday, May 03 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'll most likely end up at UF. If Tulane had given me the kind of money they gave you, I'd probably have to flip a coin or something. It'll be nice for me to get back to Gville after a few years away. There's no way I can go to FSU--too much garnet and gold splattered all over that town.

Congrats on the Tulane decision and the sweet scholarship. See you there in August.
