Additional info & updates

Okay, so here it is!!! After SIX LONG MONTHS of waiting, I am done with my cycle, and very happy to say that I'll be at Michigan this fall. My cycle went as expected, really, and I have no complaints (although it would have been nice to get off one of those ridiculous holds!). Best of luck to anyone going through this crazy, crazy process. It can be extremely hard at times.

GO BLUE!!!

~*~

Applying to a bunch of reaches but hoping I get through!!! You never know unless you try! Go big or go home!

11/19 - GEORGETOWN!!!! A great first acceptance! It's wonderful knowing that at least one of the T14 wants me!!! Thrilled!

12/10 - TEXAS!!! Yay, I was jonesin' for another acceptance after Gtown, so this one hit the spot. :)

12/11 - FORDHAM!!! I am in love with NYC so it's nice to know I have that option.

12/22 - Scholarship offer from Texas, 20k for the first year, 10k each year after.

12/23 - BU!!! Early X-mas present in the form of a phone call congratulating me on my acceptance. Merry Christmas to me! :)

1/12 - VANDY!!! Got back after 2 weeks of vacation to find a huge box from Vandy waiting for me. Alas, even with the great news from Vandy, I was still painfully aware of the absence of a certain purple package...no acceptance from NYU so it doesn't look good. Kind of sad, since it was definitely my top choice but it was definitely a reach so...oh well, I've still got some great schools to choose from! Also, the acceptance package from BU came with a sweet hand-written note. Nice touch, BU, nice touch ;-)

1/16 - E-mail Hold/Deferral fromMichigan :( I happen to think this is indicative of what the rest of my cycle will be like...disappointing. First no NYU acceptance, then the Michigan deferral, next...more heartbreak. But, again, I looove the schools I've gotten into already and consider myself super lucky, so no matter where I choose to go, I'll be quite the happy camper this fall.

1/27 - GW!!! In via e-mail

1/29 - MICHIGAN!!! Yaaaaay for another T-14 acceptance! I'm so psyched. Didn't get the mail yet but saw my status change to decision and checked the Admitted Students website. Super happy :)

2/2 - Fordham scholarship offer of $10k/year

2/3 - And the slaughter officially begins. Put on hold today at Northwestern, which to me, is good as a waitlist since they don't make a decision until around April. Also went to decision mailed today at Chicago via their status checker, which means either a rejection or a hold is on its way. Surprisingly not too upset about it; I wasn't really excited about either of these schools anyway. Life goes on! :)

2/5 - Another hold, this time for UChicago. Came with the option to send in another LOR, updated transcript, or a choice of 3 essays. Mailed 2/3. Expected an outright reject, so I'm not bummed.

2/11 - Sent LOCIs to Northwestern and Chicago.

2/17 - How many holds can one girl get? Third hold, this one from Columbia. Surprised, was expecting outright rejection. Sigh. Anyways. Moving on.

2/20 - Waitlisted at Duke. Wouldn't have gone anyway.

2/25 - 7.5k/yr from GULC... i dunno :-/

2/26 - Another WL, this time at UVA. Another school I didn't want to go to, but applied because I had a fee waiver. Hey, I've had no rejections at all so far! W00t! :-P

3/6 - Wooooow, beautiful offer of $20k a year from Vandy...puts them near the top of my list....

3/25 - First rejection of the cycle via email from Harvard. 100% expected. I had almost forgotten that I applied! Lol

4/1 - GULC upped my offer to 12.5k/yr but it's still not enough...it sucks because I reeeeeeaaally wanted to be in DC. Bummed :(

4/6 - Got 10k/yr from Michigan after visiting for Preview weekend this past week. Absolutely LOVED it and was super impressed. Wasn't considering Mich AT ALL due to bad weather/me being a city girl but am now 95% sure that I'll be there this fall. Their scholarship amounts to more than GULC's once you factor in cost of living, plus it's higher ranked (top 10) and had less of a cutthroat, super-competitive vibe. Feeling real good right about now ;-)

4/14 - Waitlisted at NYU. As expected.

4/20 - Waitlisted at Columbia. As expected. Just two more schools to go and I'll officially be a Wolverine :D

4/23 - Flat out reject at Chicago. Kind of stings.

4/24 - Rejected at NU. Stings the most. Oh well. Ann Arbor here I come!!!

We have almost identical numbers (mine being fudged up a bit higher). Same URM, too. It will be interesting to see how both of us do.

NICE
