I decided to take two years off after undergrad to get some experience in the law field, prepare for the LSAT and narrow down what schools I'll be applying to.
10/3/08: Updated transcript in LSAC
10/10/08: Waiting for 3rd & final LOR , should have by the end of next week.
10/20/08: Sent off my final LOR from an attorney at work to the LSAC. Ready to start submitting my applications.
10/27/08: Received Northwestern Fee Waiver (Wasn't expecting that one, but definitely exciting)
10/28/08: Received UVA Fee Waiver (wow...wasn't expecting that one either..just as excited)
Received noticed from LSAC that final LOR was received.
I'm making a couple of changes to my personal statement and I'll begin submitting applications this week.
10/30/08- Wash U fee waiver in email
11/7/08-Began submitting applications...and so the wait game begins.
11/9/08-Nice surprise when I submitted my app to BU. Learned that my application fee had been waived.
11/18/08-Some apps already being reviewed. YIKES...I guess this is where things get interesting.
11/19/08- Fee waiver to U Mich today. What a surprise. This is great since I was just considering taking a risk and applying anyway! I don't know fee waivers don't guarantee admissions, but hopefully one of these great schools will take a chance.
11/20/08-Found out about my first acceptance via UGA status checker!
11/22/08- Great interview with NU alum. Happy I went. Very...informational.
11/30/08-Finished last of applications. The wait continues.
12/03/08-Status changed to under review at Duke and U of I. Yikes...the serious wait begins.
12/06/08-Received a letter (via snail mail) from Georgetown, stating that I was being put on hold for another review and should have a decision by mid-February. Whew...still ,that's so much better than a flat our rejection. I would be more than thrilled to attend if I were accepted and I'd be close to home.
12/17/08- Date of U of I @ UC status checker changed to today's date. Hoping and praying that means some positive news before Christmas! If so, it'll hold off my obsessive compulsive status checking til after the New Year (...perhaps)
12/22/08- Got accepted into U of MD via regular sized envelope that read "Congratulations" on the outside. Whew...I would have been some kind of disappointed if it had been a rejection after that. Nevertheless, YAAAAY, this'll hold me over til the new year and allow me to stop compulsively checking my status checkers.
01/08/09- Yipppeeee...In at U of Ill. at UC. My status checker changed to "decision, letter mailed" today. This evening I received an email from the assistant dean, Paul Pless. So far, the schools with fee waivers have been in my favor. Hope it continues.
01/09/09- Admitted into the CLEO program today. Going to accept it and attend. Yaaaay. 2009 is shaping up quite nicely so far.
01/13/09-WOOohooo...in at Boston U. I just got a call from a 617 number on my cell. I typically don't answer numbers I don't know, but something told me to. Happy I did. This week just got so much better. Also received acceptance package from Boston College this past Saturday.
01/14/09-OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG....That's seriously all I can say right now. Received a big envelope in the mail from UMich yesterday. That still didn't register. Opened, saw the word "Congratulations!" and dropped the letter in disbelief. I read the letter countless times to make sure I wasn't interpreting my acceptance wrong. NOPE, it's REAL!!! This process has officially been much more than I could ever imagine.
Just checked my status checker and found out I've been accepted into Villanova.
01/16/09-Just found out I have a full tuition scholarship to U of Illinois. That's great. But now I'm torn. :-(. That's going to make decisions a whole lot tougher. I'm going to have to wait til I see what other schools may offer.
1/21/09- Just received an email from Dean Clifford at 3:30, congratulating me on my admissions to WashU. Yippee.
P.S. Just received a call at 4:30 from the Dean at Emory, congratulating me on my admissions plus my a full scholarship offer from Villanova in the mail. Whew. The blessings keep flowing. Thank you God. 2009 is shaping up nicely.
02/02/09- Two dean cert forms later and I'm FINALLY complete at Cornell. I'm not complaining...just stating the facts. Happy I'm finally complete.
02/05/09- Just got an email congratulating me on Northwestern. YIPPEE!!!! Thank you...I was feeling sad that I hadn't heard from any schools in a couple of weeks.
02/11/09- Emailed acceptance from Wake Forest. Plus a scholarship offer for 3 years each. Not too shabby at all. Also, waitlisted at Georgetown. I'll withdraw soon. They were my dream school when I was in undergrad, but I've fallen for a few other schools since then, so it's all good.
2/19 or 20th or something like that--Waitlisted at Indiana at Bloomington. Maybe because I never RSVP'd to any of those invitations to interview?? LOL, Sorry about that. Oh well. I'm good.
2/26/09-*Crickets*...all quiet on the western front. It's been 2 weeks since I've heard about any acceptances. It's been a good cycle, so I'm not upset. I'm pretty certain I know where I'll be in the fall (as long as the money situation works out) and I'm pretty excited about my decision , so I'll begin withdrawing from most of the schools in the next few days so I can free up some seats for applicants waiting to hear back. I was curious about some of the schools I haven't heard from, but if I'm already sold on one school, I guess that's really selfish to hold out right? I thought so, I'll do my part. It's been fun.
3/3/09- In at USC via snail mail, letter dated February 27. Yay West Coast.
3/12/09-Received Scholar in Law Award at Wash U. Yaaay. But uh oh. Now this is making my decision much harder. I'll have to keep thinking and start making moves this weekend.
Good Luck to everyone this cycle!!!
4/8/09- Tomorrow I will withdraw from all but two of my remaining schools, although I'm sure I will end up at UMich.
4/9/09 - In at Cornell today via email...now to withdraw from most of the above schools.
4/27/09- Sent in my seat deposit to UMich last week and withdrew from all other schools. Looks like I'll be a Wolverine come the fall. Go BLUE!
