Additional info & updates

I don't think the numbers should matter all that much. I have two excellent recommendations and some way above average ECs.

12-05-05: Marquette University -- First acceptance....apparently I will be going to law school next year. It's a safety school, but it's good to know that I wont be part of the 50% of applicants that don't get in anywhere. Update: $13,000 a year in scholarship money.

12-09-05: Georgetown University -- Went to 'Decision' on the online status check...crossing my fingers, but still a little pessimistic. :( ::Update:: Rejection letter received 12/12/05 in white envelope.

12-12-05: University of the Pacific --Acceptance via a large envelope sent priority mail. Received 12/15/05

12-15-05: Santa Clara University--Deferred...Not Surprised given I fucked up on their application and put down another law schools name in my personal statement.

12-16-05: University of Pennsylvania--Letter received at permanent address. So much for aiming high.

12-27-05:George Washington University-- Letter received at permanent address in small windowed envelope.

01-13-06:Northwestern University--E-mail telling me my letter was posted online. This repeated rejection thing is getting kinda hard.

01-18-06: University of Michigan--Letter from my own institution
rejecting me. Dated 01-13-06. Gonna finish my WUSTL APP now.

01-27-06: Waitlisted at Indiana-B. Not received until (02-17-06)

02-03-06: University of Houston---E-mail telling my letter of acceptance is on the way. Yay for breaking up the rejection pattern. : )

02-15-06: Called Indiana-Bloomington to ask what's up. Told me that my letter was sent a while back. They are sending a new letter to me. Called WUSTL and expressed my interest in the school. A note to that effect was added to my application.

In other news...apparently I'll be graduating with honors...all ya need is a 3.2...go figure!

02-17-06:Requesting that my application be re-reviewed at denial schools. Got nothing to lose and I'm not gonna just lay down and die.

02-23-06: Accepted at University of Pittsburgh. Not surprised. The legacy factor may have helped. Update...03-03-06: Awarded $12000 a year in scholarship money. Update 03-23-06: Negotiated scholarship award to $15,000 a year.

02-24-06: Rejected at George Mason. Took their damn time.

I agree with you on the numbers thing and wish you well. We have a couple schools in common.

It was a thank you note from Mich, not a rejection. My roomate called and I just assumed it was the rejection.

Actually I didn't get email from them. The guy just woke me up and in my groggy state told me that the official acceptance was placed in the mail today.

Good luck

I'll be watching your profile as well. Congrats on that first acceptance!!

Good luck on GULC!

I hope that you have better luck than I did on GULC. Your URM status may give you the edge you need to get in. On another note, it took a solid week for my letter to arrive after the online status check indicated a decision had been made on my file. Best regards.

Thanks

Thanks man. I've decided to stay in-state because I applied to a joint-degree program that appeals to my interest in public policy. I hope you get into GULC!

Numbers shouldn't matter much, but...

I think people use this site to get an idea of where they should apply. I know when I was making my decisions, seeing people with similar numbers and soft factors helped me decide. I think you should reconsider posting your numbers. They shouldn't be so important in admissions (if you assume they are, which I do) but the reality is that they are and that is what many people use this site for.

huh?

50% of applicants don't get accepted anywhere?

Will be blessed with your presence next year?

Hey
Wednesday, November 02 2005 at 07:00 PM

Well, so far all I have gotten are rejections, but I'm not letting it get me down. I still have a ways to go! How are things with you?

Thank You!!!

The feeling is just wonderful having that first acceptance!
