I saw someone on here who found out because they called her Dad who was an alum. But, I just sent you an email.

Thanks!

on Columbia. I'm actually surprised (no offense) that they accepted your numbers. Nonetheless, you're on track for awesome things - Good luck!

saying "no offense" doesn't make it not offensive.

Sorry

didn't mean to be offensive, I was just surprised because your numbers simply aren't reflective of theirs. Please don't be offended, I was sincere when I congratulated you. I think you're on track to great things, as your acceptances to top schools indicate. Again, sorry, congratulations, and good luck!

Congrats on NYU and Columbia. Makes me feel hopeful. Can I ask what types of soft factors you have - work experience, volunteering etc?

Columbia and NYU

Congrats on Columbia and NYU. (The rejection from Rutgers Newark is hysterical.) Like you I am a nontrad ("89" is my grad year from college). Do you think there was any one thing or things in your application (i.e.--personal statement, extracurriculars, etc) that swayed Columbia and NYU?

Honestly

I think it was a combination of factors - work history, personal statement, and some really kick ass recommendations. Clearly, as in the case with Columbia, they apparently really took that in to consideration. Plus, the first time I took the LSAT, I did much better. I think part of my mediocre showing this time around was just lack of practice with standardized tests (I graduated undergrad in '97 and haven't taken one since). I made sure to send a copy of the first tests results (yes, I still have them) and explain why I thought I hadn't done as well this time. I think it just goes to show that some schools pay attention to EVERYTHING you send them and really try to give you a fair shot. Rutgers, however, can still just suck it.

I can't believe they rejected you. I am sorry. I think your numbers are great and much better then some of their acceptances! With your numbers, I would have thought you were a "shoe in" for Rutgers. I guess it just goes to show that not everything is guaranteed. Did they give a reason as to why you were rejected? I only ask because my apps to Rutgers are still outstanding and my numbers are not quite as good as yours.

I didn't post my LSAT because they are so bad. Well not as bad as some, but lower then I would have liked (high 140s). You are right about Rutgers though, it was probably a blessing in disguise for you, Columbia and NYU are great schools and can open many doors for you. I wish you lots of luck with law school and with your career.
