Additional info & updates

In hindsight, I applied to way too many law schools - I was a little upset with my LSAT score, so I decided to be on the safe side and apply to a lot of schools.

I consider my applications to Yale, Harvard, and Stanford to be really expensive lottery tickets. I know I have a one in a million shot.

1/29/07: Received rejection from Harvard. As predicted.

I'd love to hear feedback from people with similar numbers on which law school they plan to attend - or which law school they would attend if they had to choose among the schools where I've been accepted. Thanks guys!

3/21/07 - Acceptance from Stanford!! !!!

Dean Faye called me on the phone - I'm in complete shock. Stanford was a long shot and I applied on a whim, pretty much convinced that I would get rejected. And after getting waitlisted at Penn and rejected from Yale and Harvard, I was just waiting for that thin envelope from Stanford to arrive in my mailbox.

Anyway, for anyone else out there who doesn't quite have the numbers to get into their top choice school, I hope this gives you some hope...

Yeah, I actually am a senior there right now. My name is Robby... do I know you? Thanks for your nice comments. You're doing pretty well in the admissions game yourself.

Hi- we have pretty similar numbers, but that 1 point extra of yours on the LSAT seems to have gotten you into a few more schools :) So far I think I'm leaning towards Georgetown from my list, even though UVA is ranked higher. I visited the campus last month and really liked it. Pretty neat to be right next to the Capitol. I absolutely fell in love with Northwestern, though, when I was up in Chicago. The people were really laid back and friendly. You should visit there if you get a chance. Boalt is a great option too, though!

If I had to choose among the schools where you've currently been accepted.... Berkeley, probably. But part of this depends on where you want to live. Do you have strong feelings about staying on the east coast? Do you like the idea of moving to California? If I was choosing between NYU and Berkeley, it would be a more difficult decision. I don't love NYC, but I've lived on the east coast for years and wouldn't relish the idea of leaving when I had the opportunity to attend a really good law school in this region. Then again, people seem to love Northern California once they move there. That was a very long-winded way of saying, all things being equal, I'd choose Berkeley among the schools you have listed as "accepted."
