Additional info & updates

4/11/07 - I just started my account today after coming across this site and the message boards.

I'm taking a Blueprint prep course now and doing very well. I scored a 156 in my first practice test, and I'm now shooting for a score of 170+ when I take the actual LSAT in June. I'm applying for fall '08 admission.

I finished my undergrad in 2003 with my final gpa just above a 3.0. My major gpa was somewhere between 3.2 and 3.3, and I did show improvement in my grades over the last few semesters. I made the President's List in my final semester.

Since graduation, I've been working in marketing / communications. I first started at a mid-sized law firm in downtown LA, moved to an engineering firm on the westside for a few years, and as of January I'm now working downtown again for a very large law firm.

I'm happy and relieved and motivated to be going through the whole process with my girlfriend (soon to be fiance). We're hoping to move up to the Bay Area, and so we're focusing our applications on schools there. I recognize that some of the schools I've listed are long shots, but we'll see how I do on the test.

4/30/07 - Took my 2nd practice test yesterday with Blueprint and scored a 167. Not too bad, an 11 point improvement in less than a month. I wasn't able to even get to 1 of the 4 logic games, too. Given that I have a little over a month of class left, I'm looking forward to boosting my score even further.

6/12/07 - Just took the actual test yesterday, and I feel pretty solid about it. My most recent practice tests have been a 164, 174 and a 166, so I'm confident that I should at least score in the mid 160s.

My final cumulative GPA was also a 3.0 with my major around a 3.2. If you can score above a 170 you will be in pretty good shape to compensate for the GPA. Also, don't make the same mistake i made this cycle and apply early. And by early i mean in october or november. Good luck!

I wouldn't even consider Golden Gate...they are currently on ABA probation because their pass rate for the bar exam was disturbingly low.

I made a 155 on the lsat and I have been strongly considering waiting until I have taken the test again ... which would likely be in September. I am wanting to take a prep course (which I was unable to do before I took the test last time) to see if I can at least get into the mid-160's, which I think I am capable of doing. Are you finding that you are improving a lot with the prep you are taking? Is that a in-class instruction course? I'm just curious to get some thoughts from someone who is doing what I am thinking of doing. Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I actually called them after checking out their website. They only offer the courses in California, Texas, and NY. I'm near Atlanta, so that doesn't do me any good. But I guess they have some self study that might be helpful ... I think that I'll check that out. Comparatively speaking, they seem like they might have the most to offer ... Testmasters looks good too. Thanks again.

Very similar stats as me and a few of the same schools. Good luck, I'll be keeping up with you

which coast?

If you're going east, I really like Rutgers as your option. In case you didn't know, if you sign a 12-mo lease in NJ (law students have this option in their new dorm, too) they'll give you instate tuition starting for your first year. With your scholarship, that makes total costs really low.
