Visitor Comments
thanks for the heads up! some of my best guy friends were in Kappa Sigma at UNC...I'm a KKG. This waiting thing is killing me. I'm planning a couple of trips to visit a few schools in April. Keep me posted on how your apps are coming. Good luck!
Thanks for the kind words, I wish you all the luck as well.
The waiting should be over soon. I just want to know where I'll spend the next 3 (or more) years of my life! What is your first pick?
Arkansas would be nice...I've got a few friends at UAB and a couple at Mississippi College too. Although, since I'm out of state my chances are not that great. Realistically, probably Vermont or NESL. I've been trying not to choose and just see where I'm accepted first. Any idea what kind of law you're interested in?
I thought and thought about it, but in the end decided not to. I had already sent 12 applications and decided that was enough. Not to mention it was the most expensive school on my list and I don't think I could handle all that lake effect snow. Did you?
Any acceptances yet? I got mine from FCSL yesterday with a $5,000 yr scholarship. The letter was dated March 12...pretty quick turnaround. At least we know we're going somewhere!
I am going to visit MSU this weekend, so they are high on my list. I also applied to the part-time program at Denver. I visited Drake, William Mitchell, and Hamline last week and liked all of them. As you can see I have no idea where I will end up! It will depend how the waitlists turn out. I am sure with your numbers you will be very competitive at the schools on your list!
I think I may go visit in a couple of weeks, April 1-3 I think. I've heard good things about their facilities. They want a seat deposit by April 15 and I'd like to check it out before then and maybe buy myself some time to hear from a couple other schools. I'd prefer somewhere more established but living on the Florida coast for 3 years would be nice! Anyway, 1-1 so far...keeping my fingers crossed for Vermont, Valpo, Arkansas, and NESL. Hope you get some good news from FCSL this week...let me know!
Oh, and why didn't you apply to New England?
Feels good to have at least one option! Are you planning to visit? I'm headed down with a friend April 1-3. If you are thinking about visiting around that same time, let me know, we could all hang out!
I think you should definitely give it a try, things are looking good there for people with our numbers and its in a good area of Boston. Also, I hear Western New England is kind of sketch. Sounds good for that first week, we're trying to find a place to stay right now...having a hard time choosing between somewhere at the beach and just driving to visit the school or somewhere downtown. Let me know what you decide!
Good luck at NESL and Syracuse! Definitely keep me posted about NESL, we may also have to plan a visit to Boston!
BTW, I got an acceptance from Campbell today! 2-2 so far!
Definitely, that would be awesome! Do you have instant messenger? Shoot me an im!
Hey, tried to IM you ... I'll try again later.
hey, got your im...I was getting ready for work. Hope to hear from you later!
congrats on western with the scholarship to boot! looks like the cycle is being good to you so far.
No kidding - how does Indiana-Bloomington give me $$$, and Valpo WL me? You should consider waiting a year, re-taking the LSAT, and getting your apps in earlier. If you can get that into the 160 range, and get your apps out in December, you'd definitely give yourself a better shot (not that you don't have a shot now...). Good Luck!
Sorry to hear about NESL...oh well. I haven't heard anything from Arkansas...I saw where they requested my report from LSDAS but thats it. That seems kind of interesting that they would send out a letter like that, especially since they don't see anything but numbers unless they request your personal statement. Let me know what else you hear. BTW, I'd definitely choose 3 years at the beach over 3 years of snow also.
The first time I took the LSAT was completely cold...I'd looked at a test or two but nothing too serious. I took a Kaplan course this summer and it helped a lot, probably in just forcing me to study. The most important thing they taught me, and the info that really helped me the most, is that there are four wrong answers and one right one. Thinking about it like that really helped me. Good luck!
I recieved the same Hofstra letter about the new dean. Which totally threw me off...I saw a small envelope and of course I thought it was a rejection but it started out positively. Anywho, I guess I'll just have to wait. Best of luck!
Any new developments? No letter from Arkansas, or anywhere else to speak of. We're road tripping to Jacksonville this Sunday to visit and staying until Tuesday. Hope you are having a good week!
It's been going pretty good for me, about what I expected. I think I'm going to go to George Mason. What chapter are you from? I'm at Alpha-Iota in Chattanooga.
In at Duquesne!
It seems like that's the case in some circumstances (maybe most). All of the attorneys in my office came from families who paid for them to go to college. None of them worked through undergrad, and they did not have to work while studying for the LSAT. Being an attorney is actually some of the assocaites and partners first "real job." Additionally, their parents also paid for tutors and prep courses. I'm not sure if that is indicative of anything, but it is nonetheless material for an interesting perspective. However, this does not explain those who are just damn good test takers, or that are good with the material asked on the LSAT. It just busts my ass sometimes when an attorney can't understand concepts like why an engine needs oil...
In at Loyola...this cycle is going much better for me than I expected. Where are all your acceptance letters?
Yes, Blueprint is an in-class course. They offer an extensive course that lasts over 2 months (2-3 times a week for 4 hours per time), and they also offer compacted weekends only version. I haven't taken a 2nd practice yet so I can't tell you exactly how much I've improved, but after only 2 weeks of the course I'm already able to easily answer a lot of question types that I had trouble with on the first test.
When was the letter from Samford postmarked?
It took about 6 weeks.
of quinnipiac and hofstra? I saw your repsonse to someone else and you mentioned briefly that you were considering hofstra and quinnipiac. I could use some comments/insights regarding these schools. lemme know thanks
I was deferred in late Feb. and was accepted on Friday.
for the input. congrats on SU. so this probably means hofstra is out for you
What is taking everyone so long????
Yeah, you should probably work on that spelling before you go to law school. I'm going down to New Orleans this Saturday-Tuesday to catch some of the jazz fest and visit the school...I'll probably make a decision after that. What about you?
any new developments? looks like the cycle is over for me. I wish I had applied to a few different schools now. Still thinking Syracuse?
looking like loyola unless i get off the vermont waitlist very soon. the visit was great, the university is in a really pretty area and im very interested in the international programs they have. hope you hear from your last few schools soon...keep me posted!
i would bet that you will get off of samford's waitlist. if you get in do you think you will go there or would you still go to Syracuse?
Samford may say that there class is full but there big seat deposit is due june 15th and I gurantee several spots will open from deposits not paid. As far assitting out a year being sound, i don't know.. i know i couldn't move to syracuse, too cold and yankee for me though i'm sure it's a good school. If that was my only other choice I might wait out a year but I must say that I did sort of like Florida coastal and think i could have been happy there.
did you get an email from coastal upping your scholarship offer? before that, loyno and fcsl would cost about the same and going to loyno was a no brainer. but the loans and interest are staggering, and knocking $30k off that is a big deal. so confused....any new developments for you?
i thought for $30k i'd give it some thought, but i know my job prospects will be much better coming out of loyola. after all, that is what will be paying back all those loans, regardless of where i go. so, still set on loyola and getting pretty excited about it. good luck on cumberland...staying down south was part of my decision too. i just don't think i could hack it in the cold and snow with no sweet tea. whats the deal with hofstra and bama?
Awesome man it's a really good school and glad you can stay in state and be closer to your folks. I'm going to be new to Bama but I've been down already and liked the Birmingham area a lot. What kind of law are you looking to go into? Have you thought about housing stuff yet? Throw a party or something at home this is your best law school news yet. Congrats again and look forward to meeting you in the fall.
Thanks bro. I'm working for Powerscore now, so let me know if you end up retaking it and want help. AEKDB
I knew you would get in. Our #'s are almost identical and spots always open up. I will probably end up seeing you in the fall, are you definately going to Cumberland?
Congrats on Cumberland! I know you are excited. It seems like everything is finally falling into place for all of us. I can't believe you still haven't heard from Bama and Hofstra...crazy! I have some friends in B-ham so I might make a couple visits up that way...keep in touch!
I should know in the next 2 weeks whether I'll be at Cumberland or LSU. Are you looking for a roomate? I'd would prefer to have one that is a law student and save some money not having to pay for a single so let me know if you would be interested.
yeah, I'll be going to LSU. I visited today again and that locked up my decision. Good Luck at Cumberland, it's a great school and I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
Don't know too much. I know Springfield is a bit of a rough area. I heard the school was nice, but have yet to visit. They are low on my list, although with a 149, I am not in a place to be too picky. Still, they are 9/10 on my top choice list
