Hey, We have nearly identical numbers and apparently similar interests. What attracts you to California? I want to move there SO bad, but i got into Miami for now, as well. It's nice to have a solid backup in the bank isn't it? Let me know how everything goes for you, Good Luck!

my mother and you would get along. i on the other hand feel there are bigger fish to fry. pepperdine didn't offer me any money, so the acceptance isn't that great although i have heard stories of rich families in malibu taking good care of the law students... who knows?

  • loyola v kent
  • Thursday, March 16 2006 at 07:09 AM

it's like temple v villanova. 2 years ago temple was ranked higher than nova but nova is historically a tier 1 school. in chicago, loyola is until very recently considered to be the better school. kent is up and coming but they still don't have the alumni base of either loyola or depaul. if i had to choose, it would probably be loyola for me. i would choose loyola because they have a higher starting salary, higher bar passage rate, and a much lower attrition rate. i think kent is rising in the rankings because of their new facilities. when villanova finally completes it's new building they will likely vault back into the top tier. in philly, temple is the coveted school because of in-state tuition. in chicago, all the schools cost the same. i also think loyola will travel better than kent. heck, depaul will probably travel better than kent because of it's ip program. it's a toss up for me because i would like to practice ip in chicago. if i don't get into depaul/kent/loyola i will likely take my best offer and attempt a transfer. oh, forgot about nd/uiuc. those are probably 5/6 of the most coveted sheep skins i would like to see on my wall.

check out the new data for loyola. i predict they might overtake kent in april. they have beaten kent in every category.

- higherlearning
  • i can't understand it.
  • Thursday, March 30 2006 at 06:26 AM

i'm looking at my copy of usnews and loyola beats kent in nearly EVERY category: smaller size, higher bar passage rate, attrition rate, and higher salaries. the only thing kent has is selectivity. 26% to 36%. oh well. i know you could care less any way. ;-) so how's the cycle going? having a hard time choosing between these great schools? i know i am. if you get into hastings will they be your #1?

- higherlearning
  • sorry...
  • Friday, March 31 2006 at 09:13 AM

...about hastings. on an upnote though, i know several ppl who got in off the waitlist last year! on another note, if you don't mind my asking, how did they let you know? (i'm still waiting to hear from them...). good luck!

I got waitlisted at loyola last friday. Hastings will be taking forever, because their applications were still being taken up until march 1st. Ridiculous! PS: does NTM stand for Next Top Model... like the Tyra Banks show! haha

I only paid fees at UOP. They are giving me money and it's in an affordable area. It's also close to home so that I won't have to be worrying about travel costs in addition to tuition. Plus, they were friendly as hell at the admit day and they will hold my hand the whole way, which is what I want. How about you? looking fierce, next top model.

You and I have almost the same exact choices...I was wondering what school you are leaning towards. I am still hopeful I will get into somewhere I have been waitlisted for, but until then I am going back and forth between Santa Clara and the PT program at USD. I live in San Diego now, and it is an amazing city - great night life, perfect weather, beautiful people...but the PT program was not my ideal situation.

i went to a tour in dec and went to the first admit day in march..nice campus, facilities are a little old, but the outside is fairly visually appealing and you definitely cant go wrong with the city
