Additional info & updates

In @ Rutgers Newark via email, Temple via status checker with snail mail and email to follow, Minnesota via telephone call from dean, and Illinois via snail mail. Rutgers and Illinois both had scholarship info in the acceptance packets.

Heard from Berkeley about being sent to committee review...wasn't dinged right away, and this is worth celebrating. Not expecting an offer of admission, but it feels nice to have made it this far.

Dinged at NYU - saw this coming a mile away, but applied for the heck of it. Also dinged at BU and UT-Austin. Ouch. I was expecting waitlists there, after my awesome WL track record. =)

EDIT: Thanks to everyone for the congrats on Berkeley!!! What a day yesterday was. I got the email while I was online buying a salad for lunch in Manhattan...and I literally yelled out some choice words in the middle of the place and proceeded to cry. I got absolutely no work done for the rest of the day. I'm still in complete shock!!!! Berkeley was my number one....and it actually happened!!!

EDIT: I was accepted to Fordham today via snail mail (2/21). I was originally on the waitlist, but it was very short lived. I didn't do anything to get off it, either...no visits or LOCIs. Very unexpected!

What's with the three ED's?

Wednesday, December 03 2008 at 07:00 PM

NYU was binding ED, Cornell, UT-Austin, and BC were non-binding early action...but I had no way of specifying that.

That makes sense. Sorry, if my question sounded rude, I really didn't mean to be--was just curious. Best of luck with the rest of your cycle. Congrats on Rutgers, BTW, many of my co-workers went there and loved it.

hey, congrats on the great looking cycle. I hope mine even begins to look this good :)

No problem...it didn't seem rude. I know everyone is super anxiety ridden about this whole process! Two rejections on Fri...BU and UT-Austin, after being deferred (I listed it as WL). Bummer!

Thanks for the congrats on Rutgers and the congrats in general! I am very excited about Rutgers...went to the Admitted Students Day and was very impressed!

wow 24k at Rutgers?? Thats awsome, they only gave me 6k per year. Good work on G-town, they rejected me outright.

Congrats! I've been following your comments on TLS, and I'm really happy for you. Gtown was always my first choice (although Michigan could overtake them, haha), so I know how it feels to score big! Good luck there!

Congrats, Izziesgal! You are having an amazing, star studded, and thoroughly enviable cycle! See you on TLS

Hey congrats on Cal. Can you withdraw from the other waitlists you do not plan to attend, i.e. Wisconsin, so seats open? Thanks!

Wednesday, December 03 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats. When I withdraw from Wisconsin, I will be sure to tell them that Bob Dole would make a great replacement. =) Good luck to everyone!

I wish! No, I was rejected at Berkeley unfortunately (but not surprisingly). It's great that you were accepted though- it really shows that they do look at the whole applicant and not just the LSAT score. I'm actually hoping to attend Vanderbilt if I can get off the waitlist. I'm currently a 1st grade teacher, and Vandy is one of the only schools to offer a joint JD and Master's of Policy in Education, which I'd absolutely LOVE to do. Congratulations on your great cycle and enjoy 3 amazing years at Boalt!

CONGRATS!

Wow. CONGRATS on an amazing cycle. Berkeley is so impressive and is my dream school. I'm actually applying to the next cycle and was wondering if you had any advice for a future applicant? Do you think you had any particular softs that stood out? Thanks for being an inspiration to all us out here!
