Standardized Tests can suck it...hoping that my strong GPA and extracurrics will give me a shot at some of these T-20's.

12/17: waitlisted @ both BC & Cornell today. Totally understand Cornell- but BC...really? It must be because I don't own any Ralph Lauren. I'm convinced.

1/5: waitlisted @ UCLA....I hope this is not the start of a bad trend. (Berkeley- please give me some lovin')

Thanks! To be honest, I'm not quite sure. I have pretty good softs, I was involved in a lot of different things on campus. I don't know how heavily your personal statement is weighted, I think mine was decent, but it wasn't about any life changing experience or anything. I also included a "Why UCLA" statement, because I am very familiar with the school and did a program there for 6 weeks and fell in love with it while I was there. Hope that helps! Good luck!

Retakes
Saturday, January 19 2008 at 07:00 PM

If you're hoping to reach anything in the T14, I would definitely retake. Most people I've talked to in the mid-160s seem to've received at least a couple points improvement in subsequent tests. As far as which test, I signed up for the June 2009 test. I think I'll do better when I don't have the stresses of school and (more) work. Hope that helps.

UT

Thanks for the kind words! Yes, getting into UT was certainly a surprise considering my LSAT score. I had advisors telling me similar things... like to not apply to UT or even GW, both of which I got into. So, don't be discouraged and don't be afraid to "reach" a bit. My "softs" aren't great... I think I had average/good LORs, PS, and extra-currics. To help your chances at UT, apply non-binding early decision. I was basically deferred off their early decision list (though they say its not a deferral, but rather just a switch into the regular applicant pool), and was subsequently accepted. Good luck!!!

I have a good feeling about Berkeley for you. I am also a public interest person, so Berkeley is up there for me, too. Good luck.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the support. Here's to hoping that schools realize that GPA is pretty important too lol. I really don't have any huge preferences right now... I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much for a lot of the places I applied to, hoping that I can get surprised and not let down. Keep in touch!

Thank you!

Thursday, June 25 2009 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! Similar numbers?!?!?!??! You almost have a 4.0...I'm sure you'll end up in the T20 somewhere...Good luck...What is your top choice?

Congrats!

Hey congrats on UT!!

Thanks!
Wednesday, October 07 2009 at 08:00 PM

Thank you! congrats to you as well! We will see, I'm here in San Francisco and would ideally love to stay around here. Looks like you are set up for a great cycle. I wish you all the best!! :)

Thanks!
Thursday, March 19 2009 at 08:00 PM

UT is pretty much my top choice! I'm retaking the LSAT in December so I'm hoping to get a high enough score to be considered there and hopefully it'll help that I'm a Texas resident. Other than that I'd be excited to go to the West coast, specifically any schools around San Francisco! What about you? What are your top choices and how high is UT on your list? Also good luck on the rest of your cycle!

Cornell
Friday, October 24 2008 at 08:00 PM

I saw that my status checker changed to "Decision." Still waiting on the letter... Good luck with all your apps, you're off to a great start!

Cornell
Monday, February 23 2009 at 07:00 PM

I got my deferral notice from Cornell via snail mail =( And I'm definitely considering Fordham, but I have to wait on the completion of my cycle before I can make anymore solid decisions. How about you and Fordham? Seeing as you got into TX, I guess Fordham's off the list?

Monday, February 23 2009 at 07:00 PM

Do you know if Fordham will offer aid (merit or otherwise) if we weren't offered any in our initial acceptance packet?

yeah
Monday, February 23 2009 at 07:00 PM

except the UTX, of which im incredibly jealous. my next one should be my ED at UCLA, but I'm expecting a WL or rejection due to my numbers. Did you hear back from Cornell/deferred like everyone else?

BU!!
Friday, October 24 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats!! :D

BC

Hey there!
Tuesday, July 08 2008 at 08:00 PM

We are indeed numbers twins! More like fraternal twins? Haha. But, in all seriousness, I have actually been watching your cycle secretly (that sounded pretty creepy...I apologize). Huge congrats on UT and Fordham and the other sweet acceptances! This whole waiting for FR/not FR is making me ancy. But I hold out hope for us. Here's to an amazing rest of your cycle!

Congrats
Monday, November 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

Hey, Thanks and Congrats on your acceptances/scholarships as well! As of now I'm leaning towards UT, but cracking the T14 would be unreal. Pray for me for Berkeley as well haha...your top pick?

Hi!
Friday, October 24 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for your message. You have so many good options, I bet you nag Berkeley. I don't really have a top choice as of today, I'm kind of in between schools. I am really waiting for that one acceptance to come through that will really make my cycle!

congrats
Sunday, February 08 2009 at 07:00 PM

on UT! judging by your cycle so far, i'm guessing you're seriously considering UT? i just got in! are you planning on visiting the campus anytime soon?

Tuesday, January 19 2010 at 07:00 PM

Wow we have really similar numbers and softs! Congrats on Texas - I hope I receive some of the same results from my top schools.

hey!
Monday, February 23 2009 at 07:00 PM

Congrats!

Decision
Monday, November 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

So have you decided on a school yet?

Texas
Thursday, October 01 2009 at 08:00 PM

Yes - I went to ASD and fell in love with Austin and the school - everything just seemed to fit. I expected the faculty to be brilliant but in addition, they genuinely seemed to care that students had the best law school experience possible. I'm generally pretty skeptical but they certainly won me over. I can't wait for school to start!
