4/2/2009 email From Pitt

Greetings from Pitt Law! We hope this email finds all well with you. Our Admissions Committee is currently still reviewing your application to Pitt Law. We received your application fairly recently and we hope to have your decision sent to you soon. We greatly appreciate your patience and understand that waiting for a decision is never easy and we continue to take the review process very seriously. We value your genuine interest in Pitt Law. At this time if there is any further information you would like to share with the Admissions Committee please feel free to communicate that with us. If your plans to attend Pitt Law have changed or you have any other questions, please let us know. We will be in touch with you soon!

Charmaine McCall
Assistant Dean of Admissions

it seems to me that application is on hold for now..which I think is going some of my other application...I shall wait and see what happens

rejected at UI
wait list at St. Louis University (regular mail...looked like I got admitted ...but nope and Washington University at St. Louis (via email)

We appreciate your interest in attending Washington University School of Law. This year, due to a record number of outstanding candidates, we are currently over-committed with our offers of admission. For that reason, a final decision regarding the status of your application has not yet been made, and the Admissions Committee has placed you on our wait list. However, the Committee was highly impressed with your credentials and is hoping to be able to extend you an offer of admission in the near future.

I understand that you need to start making plans for this fall. Unfortunately, at this time, it is difficult to determine exactly when and how many candidates will be admitted from our wait list. Admitted candidates have until late spring to submit a deposit to hold their seats in the entering class. Even then, some candidates will decide not to enroll after they have paid a deposit. As soon as we know that we have seats available, we will immediately notify those applicants to whom we are able to offer admission.

As you can see, it could be a long wait before we know anything further. We cannot do much until accepted candidates let us know their intentions, and often, students who do submit deposits are on waiting lists at other schools. If it%u2019s any encouragement, we do anticipate taking candidates from the wait list this year. For your part, if you wish to remain on our wait list, please complete the %u201CWaitlist Form%u201D at http://law.wustl.edu/admissions/forms/waitlist.asp. If we do not hear from you by April 24, 2009, we will assume that you have already made other plans for the fall.

We appreciate your patience and hope that you will continue to consider Washington University School of Law as your school of choice for your legal education.

Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Services

I basically wrote them a letter telling them why I thought I would be a good fit for the school, what programs they had that I liked, and what I have accomplished since applying. For example, a promotion, good grades, etc. In my case, I started volunteering as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and I talked about that. I also talked about my promotion at work. If you are in school and got a good grade on a paper or anything positive you have accomplished you could talk about. Just have to make it somehow fit in with why you'd make a good law student. Hope that helps! :) It's also a very good idea to visit the schools if you haven't already. When you visit and you say you want to go there it means more than someone who just says they want to go there. Hope this helps! :)
