Additional info & updates

SENT = Date I applied via LSAC
RECEIVED = Date report was requested from LSAC
COMPLETE = This is the date of my LSAC report being posted, in the absence of a school notification, or the date that I have received an e-mail from the school indicating that my file is complete.

5/3/08 - Nice. I get a rejection letter from IU-B after withdrawing in writing 5 weeks ago...

3/27/08 - I guess it's decision time. I withdrew from MSU and sent in my deposit to OSU. It feels really weird (but good!) knowing that I have made a final decision...

3/26/08 - Waiting for IU-Bloomington has kind of gotten on my nerves. I applied the first day applications were accepted. If they don't want me, they should just say so. So, I have sent a withdrawal via e-mail.

3/25/08 - Well, MSU really wants me! On top of the scholarship, I now have a free laptop! Too bad I already bought mine!

3/18/08 - E-mail notification from Moritz that I got a $9,500 leadership scholarship, renewable yearly with a 2.5 GPA. I'm not sure about the details, or if I have any merit scholarships or aid on the way, either. It's still good news!

3/17/08 - I withdrew from U of Arizona via snail mail. I was really disappointed they didn't have stipends to come visit, it would have been neat to see the school.

2/5/08 - Re-withdrew from Regent via snail mail. I hope they get it. There was no automatic scholarship information, so it's not even worth it if I have to apply for scholarships!

-The same day of my 2nd withdrawal, I receive an email informing me that I received a $24,000 scholarship, renewable yearly if I maintain a 3.0 GPA.

2/2/08 - Oddly enough, I received an e-mail from Regent University notifying me of my acceptance, even though I have snail-mailed them a withdrawal a couple of weeks back...

1/23/08 - Withdrew for Indiana University-Indianapolis via e-mail.

1/22/08 - Received a nice rejection letter from ND via snail mail. I really, really, really, really wanted to go to ND, so it's kind of good. I know that I couldn't have afforded the huge debt load without a scholarship!! (That's "glass is half full" me!)

-Received MSU acceptance and scholarship information via snail mail. It would be really sweet to see them rise from Tier 3 to Tier 2 this year!! MSU is now my fallback school, now. The scholarship is for 100% of the tuition, renewable with a 3.00 GPA. (I calculated the scholarship by multiplying $1,031 by 88, the maximum credits of the scholarship.)

1/12/08 - Mailed Moritz Scholarship and Specialty Awards applications to OSU.

1/10/08 - Turned in FAFSA.

1/9/08 - Withdrew from Regent (via snail mail).

1/6/08 - Withdrew from Chicago-Kent via e-mail (as preferred per the website).

12/20/07 - Snail mail from Chicago-Kent with scholarship information. I received the full tuition for the first year ($33,570), and it is renewable for $20,000 for my second and third years conditional on my GPA being 3.250.

12/18/07 - Accepted via snail mail at U of Arizona. The Dean's Scholarship is for $15,000 the first year, and $13,000 the 2nd and 3rd years (if in good standing).

12/17/07 - Accepted via e-mail at Chicago-Kent. It said a letter is on the way.

11/08/07 - Got a call from OSU Moritz Law. Within a day or two, got a letter in the mail telling me I've been accepted. Woohoo! I hope I get some scholarship money!

10/26/07 - Acceptance letter from IU-I, and the scholarship is renewable for all 3 years (if 3.4 GPA).

10/22/07 - E-mail from Chicago-Kent that I am complete. I may be notified within 2 weeks, or maybe two to three months. LOL Quite a range.

10/12/07 - E-mail from Notre Dame announcing that they received my application and will have a decision in about eight weeks.

10/09/07 - Phone call from Indiana-Indianapolis that I've been accepted. Not my first choice, but I'm going to law school next fall! :D

10/09/07 - E-mail notifying me that I'm complete at University of Arizona!

9/27/07 - Got a really lengthy e-mail from OSU Moritz Law thanking me for applying. They will not be requesting reports until October 15, and will not begin reviewing them until mid-December.

9/19/07 - Got my check back from Indiana Bloomington!

9/11/07 - The weirdest thing happened. I got an invitation to apply and fee waiver from Indiana Bloomington in the mail yesterday... But I already applied. Today I got an email saying that they received my application and check and will be mailing it back to me! That's helpful!

9/1/07 - I just sent in my first 3 applications! Ah, it feels good!

7/31/07 - Finally! My killer LOR from the Honors Director and a professor I worked closely with throughout my entire college career.

5/16/07 - Transcript processed by LSAC.

5/1/07 - Got my Clergy/Spiritual Adviser LOR form for Regent filled out. (Hoping I don't need it!)

2/22/07 - A killer LOR from a political science professor who informed me that I was one of around 5 students to ever get an A+ in one of his courses in 20 years!

11/29/06 - A decent LOR from the guy I did research with at the National Center for State Courts.

11/13/06 - A decent LOR from an employer who commented on my organizational/analytical skills.

10/20/2006 - Got my LSAT score today. My goal was a 161, and I got a 162. I was quite pleased! That makes me a touch competitive for my reach of Notre Dame. We'll see...

10/13/2006 - LS Forum in Chicago. 2 schools gave me fee waivers... All you have to do is ask, it can't hurt. That'll save me a little bit of dough. :)

Thanks for the good luck wishes. I am from N. Indiana and have been living in Indy for several years. I am settled here and I love the city. Because I plan on practicing here, it just makes sense to stay. Plus, due to my financial situation, I am not really in a place to relocate. It is a great city, though!

Have you heard anything from Michigan State? They told me it only takes a couple of weeks once you go complete, and I see you went complete in Sept.

Gotcha, I love dealing with the admin offices... MSU said they forgot to mail me their postcard. Good luck with Northwestern; I grew up across street from their main campus, that would be a great deal.

congrats on INDY

good to see somebody else interested in Ohio State. I visited a couple weeks back, I really really like it. Life for law students in Columbus sounds awesome.
