Additional info & updates

5-1-08 DePaul FTW

4-23-08 Apparently begging, pleading, and crying can get you a scholarship! It isn't much, but $8,000/year for 3 years is $24,000 less law school debt. DePaul is moving into the lead!

04-16-08 Rejected by Northwestern by status checker. Apparently they don't mail denial letters and at least in my case they dispensed with telling me what a great candidate I was. DIAF!

04-11-08 Deferred (which is what CK calls waitlisted, why?) by e-mail. Perfect timing. Seat deposits, away!

02-26-08 Accepted into IP LARC section via e-mail at DePaul. I refreshed the e-mail and looked in the header, but no scholarship offer.

02-12-08 Acceptance from Hofstra with 16,000 per year scholarship. Kind of trumped by Seton Hall's offer.

02-09-08 Checked the mail from yesterday about 12:30 AM this morning and found an acceptance from NKU (no mention of $$$, though I should qualify for full tuition per their website which would be about $33000 at today's rates) and a Tyvek bag with a DePaul Law t-shirt in it. I shook the bag upside down, but no scholarship fell out.

Checked the mail for today and found an acceptance from UofL with a handwritten note from the LGBT group's faculty adviser. $6000 scholarship for 3 years is a little less than 50% of 2007-08's tuition. The median grant is $5000 and 75% grant is $6500 so.

01-22-08 Large packet from DePaul with CIPLIT info in it. Mentioned that IP LARC section would be decided in Feb. I shook the envelope upside down but no scholarship offer fell out. (PS The scholarship from Seton Hall was actually two 10K scholarships. One was the Dorothy Day scholarship which is non-merit based. The other was a 10k merit based scholarship renewable with 3.1 at 10k, with 3.0 5k, and with

Well if they come and go then they will still say pending instead of deferred/WLed/accepted/rejected. Just did it for my own peace of mind so I'm not checking everything 24/7. The voicemail/e-mail I received didn't go too much into detail on the program, but just touched on a few things and said feel free to contact for more information. I'm assuming I will get more in the mail soon.

Are you considering Depaul without any scholarship? I was also accepted without any mention of $$$ which I think is a deal breaker for me. Seems way too risky to pay full tuition in a city where I'm going to be competing with 20 other schools.

Yeah, the scholarship offer kinda surprised me. It's contingent on keeping a 3.3 though, which could tough. Plus, living in Chicago is super expensive. Good luck on your apps! I'm sure you'll do well.

Ah, I see. Did they say when they would start sending out decisions?

hey, they made their decision to defer me on 3/19

I still have not heard anything from Kent. Part-time students seem to be an after thought based on how it is taking to get a decision from them.

The only school I'm really waiting for is Brooklyn, plus an updated scholarship award from Pacific (fingers crossed). Brooklyn is taking hella long, I emailed them a while ago, but received no response. The annoying thing is they keep sending mass emails about financial aid workshops out, which I mistake for an acceptance email at first....anyway....good luck...

I was deferred by CK in February. I think I received notice approximately 8 weeks after I went complete. Good luck with everything!

DePaul vs Loyola

Can you please tell me why you picked DePaul. I have a last minute decision to make between Loyola and DePaul and a very tough decision. Any input will be helpful thanks!!!!
