Additional info & updates

Will update profile near the end of my cycle! You will get a full snapshot of the experience...

My gpa according to LSAC is not stellar b/c of retaken courses. Had two semesters with personal incidents that greatly affected my performance. They are obvious when the grade trend is observed.

I hope everyone exceeds their own expectations this cycle... :-)

3-22-2009: Sooo I have been silently observing my cycle for the past 3 months waiting for rejections, acceptances, and waitlists. My interest is waning as the waitlists pile in, though.

I was semi-happy to be waitlisted at UWisc (My top choice and super reach) I really hope God makes a way! I will write a letter of interest that will hopefully garner a little more attention from them.

Unfortunately, I need to notify most schools I have been accepted to by mid-April. I don't expect to be off the waitlist/rejected by then.

Was surprised to be waitlisted at Denver... o well. DePaul is the choice as of today if things don't change.

I will be attending their Black Law Student Association's banquet.

Still waiting for a response from two of my top choices-- IUPIU and Tenn...

I may withdraw my Howard app, there are JUST NOW telling me my file isn't complete :-/ Three months later!

4-10-2009: Was just notified that my app is complete at Catholic :-/ Weird. I thought it was incomplete b/c they said I need to have my degree conferred on my transcript a couple mos ago. I never fixed the situation, b/c it should have noted that on the transcript as I graduation 9 mos ago.

Waiting on decison letter from IndyU-Indy. It says on the status checker that I should receive it in a couple days. It also notes that I may be eligible for a Summer program. Don't know what to gather from that, but am looking forward to my letter. It is in my top picks pool, and I didn't expect to wait this long!

Goin to Miami in a couple wks to hang. I have friends at UM now, so I will probably sit in on a class or two.

Seat deposits for many schools are due April 15th... SCARY! So many decisions to make :-/ Help!

Still in review according to status check for UT-Knoxville .... hmmm

4-15-2009: Yayyy! In at IUPUI just in time. Seat deposits for most of my acceptances are due today, and IndyIndy is my first choice. It's only 2 hours from my hometown (Chicago), and my boyfriend is waiting on hearing back from their med school. It just makes the most sense for me! I knew back in August that I wanted to go here... yeyah

Of course, I would love to get off the waitlist at UW-Madison. Maybe I will hear something before IUPUI seat deposits are due. UW-Madison was considered a reach, so if I don't hear soon... I'm going to continue on with plans.

My decision from UT-Knoxville is supposedly in the mail. It's weird b/c seat deposits are due today there.

I believe my cycle has gone pretty well. I wish I would have applied a tad bit earlier to more super reaches, as I only took a few chances. My LSAC recalculated gpa made me feel that every law school was somewhat a reach. Anywho, I would have applied to SMU in October. I didn't end up applying there at all. O well.

Hi. Yes I am originally from LA. I really like Chicago. Everyone keeps telling me that it's a great city and the law schools will definitely get me where I want to go. I got rid of all my D.C. area schools because when it came down to it, I just couldn't see myself there. No, I am not retaking the LSAT, I've come to accept my score although I think I can do a little better. I am still in undergrad and I want to get my apps out by the first of the month so I have no time to study and I don't want it to affect my grades. Good Luck to you though.

I am taking a real estate law class right now. REITs seem really interesting. Is that the type of law you are interested in?

Friday, June 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

No, I am not applying to Howard. Other than a couple of outlier schools, my applications will be focused in Southern California and Chicago.

Friday, June 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

Good luck with that. I initially wanted to retake, but I didn't have time to study and I heard that the earlier you apply the better chances you have of getting in. Looks like you have a lot of choices already, you'll probably get into a lot of them.

hey

Hey! Yes, I applied to start in January. I'm looking forward to it, it is definitely one of my top choices. Just waiting to see if they'll offer a little money now... Good luck to you this cycle- I'll be watching :)

sounds good.. the sooner the better.. (but you already know that) + it sounds like you have a plan. Im anxiously waiting on Pace U. to let me know when I can interview... and still waiting to hear from a handful of schools to tell me that im complete. I think that by late December I should hear something from someone for the better or worse.. ill be watching your profile..(let me know when you get your score!).

Don't let a low lsat hurt you. Have a strong app and you can make it happen. Good luck.

I just recieved my acceptance letter from Catholic and I'm still waiting on Howard. Catholic's comes via email first followed by an acceptance package. Maybe we will be classmates! Good luck to you with the rest of your cycle too!!

Congratulations!!!! DePaul is the clear frontrunner for me this far as well. You should be receiving the t-shirt in the mail soon, if you haven't already. Are you planning on visiting? Would you go to DePaul over Howard?

Friday, June 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

The answer to your question should be in your mailbox

Tuesday, March 24 2009 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on DePaul!!! Kick ass school

Ya it's tough....money is definitely nice, but I think the overall value of the education is what's most important. I can' pay back loans at all if I cant get a job. Plus I'd be able to save some money by living at home for a year. But if Northwestern accepts me I am THERE!!!! lol
