Additional info & updates

Applying to all three Baylor classes
Scholarship is total for all 3 years

11/12-Email me informing me that I was accepted to Baylor's spring class.

11/17-Received two decision letters today, both in small, business sized envelopes. Acceptence at Missouri and rejected at Oklahoma.

11/23-Received an acceptance from LSU in a small white envelope.

12/24-Accepted at Marquette via small, white envelope

12/26-Accepted at Miami, small, thick, cream envelope

1/7-Accepted at SLU by large, white envelope containing a folder filled with information

1/8-Accepted at Tulane via email.

1/14-Rejected at American, small white envelope. I wouldn't have picked it over Tulane anyway, so I'm not too bothered by it.

2/4-Rejected by Florida. I can't say that I'm surprised at all, but it is the first one that stings at all. Tulane is looking a lot more likely.

2/8-Accepted at Texas Wesleyan via large white envelope. Acceptance letter included a $35K scholarship over 3 years, $17.5K the first year and $8.75 for each of the next two.

2/9-I got an $18K ($6K/yr) scholarship from Mizzou as long as I stay in the top 50%. This one is really exciting and will make my decision extremely difficult. It would be almost half the cost of Tulane over 3 years.

3/5-Ending a very long dry spell, I was rejected from Baylor's fall class (no surprise there), but offered admission in their spring 2009 class if I am interested.

3/12-Accepted at USD via e-mail!!!

3/15-Accepted at Houston via small envelope and rejected at Case Western (WTF?) via small envelope. Offered guaranteed transfer admission at Case if I meet certain requirements though.

3/19-Accepted at Baylor for summer admission and waitlisted at KU. Those were the last two schools I had to hear from, so now it is time for the hard part.

3/26-Sent in withdrawals to a few schools that I know I won't attend. I've pretty much narrowed it down to Tulane and Missouri, but I'm waiting for financial aid info from USD, Houston, and Miami before I take them out of consideration. I visited Mizzou last week and head down to NOLA tomorrow for Tulane's visitation day. Hopefully my decision will be less foggy by the end of the weekend.

4/2-Received a small scholarship from Tulane which has made my decision for me. I'll be withdrawing from all other schools tomorrow and will be at Tulane in the fall!!!

Thanks--I got the acceptance letter by snail mail on a Tuesday after my status changed to decision on the previous Thursday, so pretty quickly. Also, the letter said nothing about the spring, just a form letter with a small handwritten note at the bottom. Good luck

Thanks! Acceptance was received snail mail just a few days after I went complete. It is for the Fall semester. Letter included $$'s and a handwritten note!

Miami
Sunday, August 19 2007 at 08:00 PM

I took the postcard saying I wasn't missing anything as an idication that I was complete, especially since it included info about my LSDAS report being there as well. I sure hope the deferral will turn out okay. Somehow this made me realize I was much more invested in going there than I thought I was. Good luck!

For the advice. I'm applying to 3 reach schools, Mizzou, KU, and Denver. You think FSU is more likely? I am not sure what t2 schools are worth the extra $, got any ideas? Thanks again and best of luck on the cycle, Matt

I am interested in staying in KA / MO area... some may call that crazy but for me it's home. Luck be with you

thats hilarious! i was wondering if there was anybody else on here from our school!! what is your major? wonder if we've had any classes together... looks like youre applying to some great schools! best of luck! are you on TLS? if so, send me a PM on there

thanks!
Monday, October 22 2007 at 08:00 PM

my lsdas gpa is actually exactly the same as my degree gpa (which i guess is pretty unusual?) so I'm really hoping LSU will show me some love. :) Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

UMiami

I KNOW!... and because of the way Miami just sends out a few decisions here and there every few days I check my mailbox eagerly every single day, only to get my hopes get smashed! Whats your first choice school?

Choices
Monday, October 08 2007 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I go to undergrad at UF and would almost definitely go if I got admitted... the only exceptions being for Emory or Washington & Lee.

Miami
Thursday, July 19 2007 at 08:00 PM

Yea we seem to be in some kind of application limbo. We aren't deferred and we aren't rejected... Pretty damn stressful :)

Marquette
Tuesday, June 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

Marquette is my number one because I want to practice in Milwaukee; outside of that there isn't much to say. I like the campus, met some of the professors, etc, but the programs aren't amazing and I'll probably get into some better schools.

Miami Acceptance
Thursday, July 19 2007 at 08:00 PM

I just got accepted by Miami! Expect to hear from them soon! Good luck :)

Congrats!
Thursday, July 19 2007 at 08:00 PM

I will more than likely be at Admitted Students day also. Send me an email before you head down and maybe I'll see you there.

Any idea as to what school you're leaning towards?

Tulane

Congrats on your Tulane Acceptance!! I just saw your post about LSU on Top Law Forums and looked you up just in time to see you update Tulane. Best of luck to you there.

Congrats on Tulane!

KU
Monday, May 14 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm more than likely going to KU unless Florida or Florida State accepts me. My decision is very laregly a financial one, so I was thrilled to get money from Kansas. Is Tulane a definite?

Thanks, and Congrats
Sunday, August 19 2007 at 08:00 PM

So, you're headed to Tulane!? Yeah. I'm hoping for some more good news from Suffolk, Rutgers, and Villanova. But, we'll see what happens. I'm very excited about the possibility of moving to New Orleans! Congrats on all your acceptances, and good luck making your final decision.

:)
Monday, July 23 2007 at 08:00 PM

youre telling me! i was so relieved. at least now my anxiety attacks about admissions have temporarily resided. i can only hope my cycle will continue to pick up and be as successful as it looks like yours has been thus far! congrats again on all your schools! still thinkin' tulane is where you'll end up?

UF

UH
Monday, June 18 2007 at 08:00 PM

Hey there, this is Brain Age from TLS. Congrats on the Missouri scholarship :) Have you gone to decision at Houston? We applied at about the same time. The wait is killing me!!

Mizzou
Saturday, February 09 2008 at 07:00 PM

As an undergrad at Mizzou, I can tell you the community (both the University and the town itself) is fantastic. It is a wonderful atmosphere. As for the law school specifically, I was very impressed. The classrooms are in top-notch condition and everything looks very professional. I have heard nothing but great things from current lawyers in Missouri (whether they attended MU or not). I'm actually not sure what my top choice is at this point. Of the schools I have been accepted to, I am leaning toward SLU. The high cost is a bit hard to swallow, but I grew up in St. Louis, I have a connection with an alumni (who is currently running for MO Attorney General), and I just love the city. But, I still haven't heard back or visited quite a few other schools, so it's hard to say what my clear #1 is.

Are you a LOST fan??? If so, 162 and 3.25...hope that helps

Case
Monday, October 08 2007 at 08:00 PM

Yeah man, Case is starting to frustrate me as equally as Miami was. I actually thought I was going to get an acceptance via email on the first day that I saw on LSN that they had started accepting non-ED candidates! I didn't write the why Case essay though, did you>

I chose to stick with them as Tulane prides itself on NYC and Miami Alumni groups which will not help me when I get to actually looking for work back in Dallas where I am from.

UH
Monday, June 18 2007 at 08:00 PM

I have no idea, to be honest. The admissions folks said they'd like to have all EA decisions out by the end of this week. But they also said we could be waiting an additional week "or so." Did they tell you anything different? I'm really getting ansy.

On all of the accceptances. Looks like we were both given the yes from San Diego the same day...so far I've only head back from 2 and am anxiously waiting the results from Tulane where I'm in review as that's my first choice behind Gtown (where I WILL be rejected). Good luck with some tough decisions!

Congrats!

Tulane
Thursday, February 08 2007 at 07:00 PM

Hey, thanks for stopping by. I emailed them a couple weeks ago asking them if paying the whole seat deposit at that time would be helpful. The response was a nice, no, but we like how serious you are about Tulane. They then said 3,500 was the max that would go out for the second round of need based/merit scholarships and that they would go out in a couple of weeks which is exactly what happened. Good luck.

Congrats
Thursday, February 08 2007 at 07:00 PM

Good job, man. Nice to see they came through for you. If you have any questions about New Orleans, you can contact me if you want another opinion. I have a brother and best friend that live in the city and I frequented it since high school. Congratulations again.
