Additional info & updates

I'm finally done with all of my applying, and now it's time for the waiting.

Sent: When I submitted app through LSAC.
Received: When school requests report.

12/29- Accepted at Mizzou. It's one of my safeties, but it's nice to be in somewhere and in-state tuition doesn't hurt.

01/02- Complete at Vanderbilt today, and also received my HawkID today. Finally a place with a status checker to obsess over.

01/08- Complete at Minnesota and Illinois.

01/10- Finally WUSTL requests my LSDAS report. I was starting to worry a little when I saw people who submitted after me had their report requested.

01/19- Complete at SLU. I'm glad to hear anything from one of my school, since it has been awhile. Waiting is no fun.

01/25- Accepted at Iowa. Yay, the first of my target schools. Notified by email at around 5pm, more information to come in a few days.

01/26- In at SLU, notified via snail mail. Acceptance came in a large envelope.

01/31- Called Notre Dame today to confirm that I was complete, so I probably went complete earlier than this but who knows.

02/08- Accepted at UIUC with $15,000/year. Came in a large white envelope. The letter was dated 1/31 so it took a little while to get here.

02/12- Accepted at WUSTL by email. Yay!! The email said I'd be notified about scholarships later.

02/16- Scholarship letter from Mizzou offering me $8,000/year as long as I stay in the top 50%. I'm in-state so that's pretty nice.

02/20- Aw, deferred from Minnesota on my birthday. Not really too big of a deal though. I'll probably just end up withdrawing. For personal reasons I'd rather go to WUSTL and I'm already in there. Plus after a week of really cold weather in St. Louis I'm not sure I'd want to handle the weather in Minnesota.

02/22- Well I'm not a 1843 Scholar Finalist at SLU, but they did give me $22,000/year.

02/28- Received my scholarship award from WUSTL in the mail today. Yay for scholarships. They are giving me $16,000/year. The letter was dated 2/23.

03/05- Rejected from Notre Dame today by mail. There goes my rejection free streak. However, seeing as there was about a 0% chance that I would go there at this point, the rejection doesn't hurt too much. Now all that's left is to be waitlisted or rejected from Vanderbilt.

03/11- I feel like my law school decision got more difficult this weekend. I went up to Illinois for the Admitted Students Day and I was really impressed. Prior to this I was pretty much decided on WUSTL but now I'm conflicted. I was impressed with the faculty and administration I met, and the students were really friendly, helpful, and it seemed like the school had a really nice atmosphere. They had a reception at night, and after that I ended up hanging out with a bunch of current 1Ls and had a great time. I hate decisions, maybe WUSTL's Admitted Students Day will bring me back to their side. Other than that, in the next few days I plan on withdrawing from places I know I won't attend. I've kind of been putting it off.

04/08- Got my waitlist letter from Vandy yesterday, and with that my cycle is over (since I won't be staying on any waitlists). I'm glad to be finished, and have decided to attend Washington University. In the end living in St. Louis pushed it ahead of Illinois.

Good job, MO kid. Those numbers should land you most of the schools listed. You wanting to get out of MO, I take it?

It's a presumptive ding on my part, based on the short, cold wording in the email. I've completely gone out on a limb here with no positive proof, however my woman's intuition is strong. I wasn't expecting much out of them anyway. If I get an acceptance, I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'll let you know, though.

I think so right now, but I think will be happy at any of my prospective schools. How about you, any favorites?

Congrats!

We have similar numbers...AND I got a deferral letter from MN today too...bummer! Good luck with the rest of the admissions cycle though!

slu vs. MU

if you were to choose between SLU and MU...which would you choose? I'm thinking MU because it's in a nicer area, ranks higher than SLU, and cost of living is lower. I just don't know though - SLU has its high points.

Thanks...

Appreciate the advice about sending MN a letter of continued interest...I'm not sure if I have any clear-cut favorites right now; I'm still waiting to hear from some other schools that I've applied to, which could totally change which way I'm leaning...you have any favorites at this point?

Congrats!
