Additional info & updates

$$$ are 3 yr totals.

01/26/09 - Duke status check went to 'under review' today.

01/28/09 - Scholarship letter from Miami. Typical Dean's Scholarship. It's about 2/3 tuition.

2/20/09 - I received an email from Cornell today because I left one of those questions about criminal records blank. I hope they don't think less of me for that mistake. On the up side I don't have any criminal offenses :)

2/27/09 - Got my new LSAT score. I hope it's not too late for those 4 points to make a difference. This kinda makes up for Michigan's rejection earlier in the week. I was bummed at first but God has a plan :) FYI, I wrote had a DS and the 2 permitted optional Mich essays and a targeted LOR from a Mich Law alum.

03/03/09 - Got the Woodruff callback. Flying to ATL in 3 weeks. I reaaaally want to get into Emory and can't afford to get in without $$$. I didn't get any of the merit aid that others did so this is my only hope. Came across three other Woodruff nominees all of whom have better grades than me and only one of whom is straight out of undergrad (but already got into HLS). That must have been a KILLER recommendation letter. Thank u :)

03/05/09 Cornell requested fall grades so I emailed them over. Just found out that Brooklyn requires an international student form. Gotta send that over so I can be complete. Got my itinerary request from Emory ***big cheesy smile***

03/06/09 - Full scholly from Howard. Sah-weet! Officially going to law school!

03/07/09 - Got a voicemail from Dozo saying they want a phone interview. Why? I dunno.

03/09/09 - WL @ BU, not sure if I want to pursue it because I need a full ride and it's not likely they would give me one. Decision @ GULC....

03/11/09 - Lovely embossed wedding invitation looking acceptance letter from GULC. Interviewed at Dozo today for about 1/2 hr. We talked mainly about my UG experiences and goals. She didn't have a prepared list of questions but was flipping through my packet as we were there, searching for questions. She also wanted to know where else I applied and where I ranked Dozo as well as what my deciding factor among schools would be. I told her scholly $$$. Hint hint :) She did assure me that there was nothing wrong with my app and the adcomms just wanted to 'get to know me better'.

03/17/09 - Decision at Duke. Apparently if I don't get an email within the next 2 days, there is a ding on the way in the mail. Acceptance from Fordham via email. Just checked the status checker and it is indeed updated. Yay!

03/24/09 - Haven't gotten the official letter yet, but I'm in at Dozo with a Nathaniel Gates scholly that covers tuition. Strangely enough they called my international address to relay this info and not my local telephone number. So my mom called and said a school that 'sounds like Cornell' is giving me a full scholly. lol. I didn't believe that for a second :) I ended up calling back the same adcom who interviewed me. She told me they were very impressed by my credentials and the official letter was on the way.
***Excited to be gng to ATL tomorrow!***

03/30/09 - Woodruff weekend was AMAZING! We were wined and dined and shown so much love from faculty, past & present Woodruffs, adcomms and current students. The other 13 candidates were really awesome and honestly had me wondering how I ended up in their company. The Dean said the group was so accomplished that she couldn't foresee having a decision before late Mon/early Tues after which time we would have 24-48 hrs to respond. Lo and behold, I got a call around noon on Sunday to say I have been WOODRUFFED! So exceedingly thankful to God for this opportunity. At this point, it looks like Emory. Thank you Jesus! Shoutouts to the 5 or so other TLSers that were among the Woodruff finalists. Esp. MHP, glad you got it! :)

04/01/09 - Vandy's not making anymore scholly decisions till April 15th and GULC just emailed me a $20 000 yr offer. I still can't afford it. In a way I'm grateful that's all they're offering because if they had given me a full ride I would have an agonizing time choosing between them and Emory especially once COL is factored in.

04/13/09 - Committee review @ Penn. I think I will wait to see what Penn and Cornell results will be. I know I'm going to Emory regardless but I'm curious to know the outcome. Withdrawing from everywhere else.

04/22/09 - Chancellor's scholarship from Vandy. Thought I had already withdrawn...

Was sifting through and came across your profile...awesome acceptances. Now that you've accepted at Emory, though, don't you think you should probably withdraw from all the other schools your sitting on?

Hey , I haven't received my official scholarship letter from Emory yet. Once I do I will withdraw from the other schools. As a potential lawyer it's wise to wait till I have a binding document right? Don't worry, I'm not the type to hold up space from other candidates unnecessarily.

Thank you
