Additional info & updates

04/23/2010: If you are indeed attending law school this year check this out http://www.abajournal.com/weekly/article/law_students_plan_website_to_publish_better_law_school_employment_stats

03/02/2010: I'm not going to law school this year regardless of any remaining decisions. I will keep this updated though for the benefit of future law school candidates! I have already started working on my masters degree! Good Luck everyone! ADVICE TO FUTURE CANDIDATES: study early and hard for the LSAT, the score means everything.

03/02/2010: Called UB to find out what was going on my application still said "complete" and they were not responding to my email. When they pulled up my application they found that I was rejected months ago but they mistakenly didnt send out anything. He said my GPA was fine but my LSAT score was in the bottom 10% of the incoming class. Every school stated that this year they've had a record breaking number of applicants with only few seats. It's unlikely that I will be attending law school next year, but may attend later down the road with more money saved to cover the costs.

02/23/2010: I emailed University of Baltimore, to inquire on the status of my application. No response yet.

02/03/2010: Samford status just changed to your file is under review.

02/02/2010: I have decided not to attend Thomas Cooley

01/29/2010: Talk About a Dream Crusher! READ THIS: http://www.abajournal.com/weekly/article/cornell_law_school_officials_expected_more_applications_but_not_a_52_spike

01/29/2010: Baltimore must be thinking hard on this one...I'm Confident!

01/27/2010: Florida Coastal status just changed to your file is under review.

01/27/2010: Sending out my FASFA for the remaining schools today!

01/26/2010: The decision of the remaining schools will determine whether or not I choose to go to law school or get a job and go part time for a masters degree. I will only be attending law school if I get into a school high on my list, due to the economy and future employment prospects.

01/22/2010: http://www.abajournal.com/topics/ check out this regarding Law Schools inflating employment numbers, and the hard life of paying back student loans for newly graduated attorneys. (see comments) -Makes me wonder if I should go part time and work through law school.

01/14/2010: Rejected at LUNO, I'm just glad to have a decision back! I originally only applied to LUNO to see if I could possibly get a scholarship as this site shows they generously distributed in the past. I fooled myself on that one! Can I have my app fee back? lol

01/07/2010: Wish I had applied to some cheaper schools....really counting on UB!

01/02/2010: So according to http://www.top-law-schools.com/third-fourth-tier.html, University of Baltimore is a tier 4 school, rankings are a joke.

12/30/2009: I'm topping off my cycle with 3 more applications, one more long shot and two with a decent chance. (all have no application fee)

12/18/2009: I should have a letter from LUNO any day now...maybe it came today!

12/16/2009: I compared St. Thomas, Nova, and Florida Coastal and decided not to apply to Nova or St. Thomas.

12/15/2009: I'm curious how Florida Coastal, Barry, St. Thomas, and Nova compare. If anyone has any insight as to the environment of these schools or school itself, please share!

11/30/2009: Finally got some action! I got into Cooley, decision was mailed. I'm relieved to have my first acceptance and ready for more to come!

11/17/2009: My applcation is complete at the majority of the schools, but this site will not let me edit any date other than the sent date.

11/06/2009: Pretty shocked about being set aside for a later "re-evaluation" at Barry, which is my last choice of the three Florida schools.

10/23/2009: I've decided to cancel the December LSAT, apply to all schools listed above in the AM.

10/20/2009: I'm going to submit my application to the University of Baltimore tomorrow and see if I can make it in with my current score.

10/18/2009: LSAT score is a 145, This is the lowest i've ever scored (counting practice test). I've ordered the Power Score Bible's and signed up for the December 5th LSAT.

9/27/2009: I'm waiting for the September 26, 2009, LSAT results before I apply.

Good luck on your Dec 5 LSAT...keep pushing & I'm sure everything will turn out fine

applying early
Saturday, October 17 2009 at 08:00 PM

After your comment I went back and looked at last year's cycle of applications and your absolutely right. I think I will take your advice and apply early (next month) like I had originally planned and once my grades post in Dec just have LSAC update the schools w/ new GPA. Besides, even w/ 2 more A it still would not make a huge difference w/ my GPA so might as well apply early & see what happens. I'll be watching your progress & routing for you :o)

I wish you luck in your applications. I am a firm believer that the schools consider an applicant in totality and no single factor holds a decisive key.

Good Luck

We have similar numbers and I just wanted to wish you good luck. Hopefully we both applied early enough that there is a chance. I'll be keeping track of your account. Good luck to you.

yes, most schools gave me a deadline, like 3 weeks after i got my acceptances. after that, there is no guarantee that my seat is held there. so, i was risking it if i waited past the deadlines. all scholarship money is kept though regardless. good luck!

Congrats to you also with Cooley. It's a nice feeling knowing that we can now go to law school in 2010. Hopefully we'll both get some more acceptances.

I saw you applied to William and Mary. I was just curious what your status checker says? Decision pending? or just awaiting review? Thanks!

congrats on cooley, and good luck with your remaining apps! I'm applying to a lot of the same places and similar numbers. I visited barry and I thought it was a pretty nice place. I have a friend who goes there and likes it too. Do you have a top choice? What are your thoughts on Cooley?

Tuesday, May 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

I haven't visited Fl Coastal, but I have heard good things locally about it. I know it has a competitive sense to it like cooley though, but the people who make it through seem to do fine. How long did it take for you to get a decision from cooley? Since they are totally off lsat/gpa I'd hope it doesn't take long.

Actually, John Marshall and Jones just recently obtained ABA approval status so that's a plus!

Part time v. full time
Saturday, October 24 2009 at 08:00 PM

I'm working full time and going to graduate school part-time right now, and it sucks. I was the kind of student in college who needed to immerse myself in my studies, and working full time and school part-time makes me feel very spread thin, like I can't give either work or grad. school my full attention (and I'm not exactly in the most rigorous grad school program right now either). Some schools have flexible schedules where you can maintain a part-time job or internship while working. Anyway, just my two cents. I think if you can do it full time, i.e. if you don't mind the debt and living off of loans for 3 yrs (which i will be doing), then I say go full-time. But if cost really is a huge factor, than part-time isn't a bad option, just be prepared to be extremely busy, and probably very stressed. My dad went to law school part-time and worked full-time and my mom said she barely saw him for those 4 years of their marriage. Just some things to consider. Anyway, good luck with the rest of your application cycle, hope you end up somewhere you want to be!

Monday, September 28 2009 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the comment. I was glad to get an acceptance from MC and now I know I am definitely going somewhere. I've heard a lot of good things about the school. Good luck to you!

Sorry you cycle didn't work out so well. I certainly feel your frustration. ONU seems to be my last hope.. maybe they will grant us both some good news.
