Additional info & updates

I studied so much for the LSAT and took the exam in September and February. I studied on my own for the September exam and received a 145, then paid $1,300.00 for the Kaplan class and only improved by one point. Despite my hard work and thorough understanding of the LSAT, it did not show in my score.

Regardless, I hope a school will realize just how much I have to offer their program and provide me with the opportunity to attend in the fall of 2010.

Feel free to contact me!

8/27/10
Well my 2010 fall applicant cycle is officially over.
- A couple of days ago Charlotte finally sent me a rejection.
- I have yet to hear any confirmation from Dayton which is extremely dissapointing since I wanted to go there so bad. Hopefully they will sent me a nice rejection letter.. yeah like those exist.
- And I spoke with Ohio Northern yesterday. Although my phone call with Ohio Northern on Monday essentially said if one person drops in the next four days I'll be in, it seems that all of their seats remained full.

Thus I will be going to Cooley in January. I would rather start somewhere and hopefully transfer than go through all of this stress and nonsense again. I am so incredibly disgusted with the way admissions offices work and the fact that I put my life on hold for months just to hear a yes or no statement. I would die happy if I didn't hear "Thank you for your interest" one more time. Best of luck with all of your futures and I hope your outcomes led to a happier ending than mine.

8/19/10
Well orientation at Dayton and Charlotte have already begun so Im assuming I have been rejected. I called Dayton on Monday and they have yet to return my phone call with is aggravating. I hope both offices send me an email or letter confirming my rejection instead of just leaving a door half open.

However I did speak with Ohio Northern today and they told me they have had some movement and that they should have some additional information to me on Monday. Lets pray its good news.

7/26/10
Received a call from ONU today. They said their class is full, but they are selecting four people off the remaining waitlist in case if anyone drops. Basically the admissions woman said I'd be in if four people drop.

Delayed my admission at Cooley until January since I'm still waiting on ONU and Dayton and don't want to lose my deposit.

Can this all be over yet?

7/16/10
Hahaha denied from District of Columbia. Probably because I sent them a really rude email last week about how poor their admissions office works. At least I got my answer. Its the first denial I didn't care about. Now three waitlists to go!

6/25/10
Waitlisted at Dayton! They requested documentation for continued interest which I will certainly be filing out. Ah I hope this turns into an acceptance soon!

6/16/10
Some days I wake up and I'm so irritated that I don't know for sure where I'm going to school and other days I'm so over this process that I just want to say screw it. Why has this process been so hard? But seriously, if this is something I am really meant to do then why is it such a struggle?

Ohio Northern should be notifying me about the wait list status shortly and Dayton tells me "Oh it will be another 6-8 weeks" every time I call so I'm just waiting for a letter. District of Columbia seems to disregard every email and phone I leave them so I am certain I will not be attending there even if I was accepted because of the poor communication. If their admissions office is that bad imagine how bad the job placement office is.

I signed up for Cooley's July orientation, but am still hoping that by August 1st I'll know if I'm attending another school so I can get my deposit refunded.

Right now I am struggling to find an answer as to what I should do in my future because frustration has consumed me. Do I really want to go to law school right now or seek a career in PR and Marketing?

5/19/10
Just now received my letter from ONU addressed from May 3rd. Small envelope stating that I'm wait listed. My best friend from home attends ONU and left an empty bedroom in their house for me in case if I attend in the fall.

5/13/10
Today I sent in my seat deposit to Cooley (Lansing campus). They refund $500 of the $525 if you withdraw so I figured why not. I mean what's $25 at this point? I am more interested in attending Dayton, ONU, DoC, and Charlotte, but I want to confirm that I have a seat somewhere.

5/4/10
Found out via email that I am wait listed at Charlotte! Needless to say instead of studying for finals today I will be putting together another letter to send to Charlotte.

What a great week so far! Let the good news continue to roll on in!

5/3/10
Today I was accepted at Cooley with a 25% tuition scholarship for each year. My $500.00 deposit is due May 13, and if I withdraw I can get my money back as long as I withdraw by August 1st. Because of this awesome clause, I will more than likely send in the deposit as it gets closer to the 13th and hope to hear news from my remaining schools.

Since I'm an OSU Buckeyes fan moving to Michigan just might kill me, but beggars can't be choosers!

Does anyone have any insight about Cooley?

4/26/10
Received my small envelope from from Catholic today, denied. No surprise.

4/23/10
Talked to Dayton yesterday and they haven't reached a decision on my application. He mentioned that they are behind schedule so if anyone else is waiting on Dayton just be patient. My conversation with him is only making me more excited and less patient lol.

I wasn't able to schedule an appointment since no one will be in the office but I am still going to go down and check out the school and see if it feels like "home."

4/21/10
Evidently my file at Charlotte hasn't been in review all long. As of today my status says "File Complete and in Review."

I'm contemplating setting up a tour at Dayton this weekend just to give my name a little more exposure. I'll let you know what I decide.

4/20/10
Catholic mailed a letter today. Anytime a ticker doesn't say congratulations I know it means bad news. But nonetheless, I hope to attain some good news.

4/19/10
No new news, but I am seriously dying for some. A professor of mine pulled a huge favor and has set up an interview with a huge PR firm in DC for me but I feel uncomfortable moving forward until I've heard back from all of my schools. Any suggestions?

Cooley told me last week that they sent a letter so I should receive it soon. They also informed me that the Ann Arbor campus is full and has a waitlist already established.

4/16/10
Received my small white envelope from Elon yesterday. Rejected. I'm shocked I wasn't at least wait listed.

4/14/10
Still no letter from Elon.

I emailed Cooley today since they have yet to notify me if they received my application. Poor communication drives me nuts.

District of Columbia has sent my application into the committees hands and I hope they like my essays. I really tired to be unique and focus on my interest in pro bono work. Time will tell.

For some reason my intuition is holding out for a North Carolina school or Dayton. So with that being said, here is a quote from Kim Basinger.
"I feel there are two people inside me -- me and my intuition. If I go against her, she'll screw me every time, and if I follow her, we get along quite nicely."

4/11/10
Today is my birthday and I just checked my online status for Elon and I think I may have found some great news! Under fees it states first deposit and second deposit. I cant remember if those line items were always there or just recently added with the "decision rendered" so I'm excited but worried (especially because once I was rejected from OSU and Akron the first and second deposit information popped up). Also, it hasn't stated that a letter has been sent so I'm kind of confused.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it! I know my LSAT is low for Elon, but I have lots of leadership experience which is something they are passionate about.

4/9/10
Denied from Cleveland State snail mail (small envelope).
Denied from Ohio State via email.
"The decision is not intended to discourage your interest in pursuing a legal career." Who says that?

4/6/10
I HAVE A FUTURE! Yes! My Appalachian School of Law status officially states, "Congratulations! You have been accepted!" Such a feeling of relief! It is amazing. No more wasting time on dumb job applications and interviews for jobs I have too much pride to take.

My Elon application is also complete and officially in the committees hands! I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed!

4/3/10
Could this process be done yet? I just want to know where I'll be living in August! I'm way too much of a OCD planner for this process, lol.

3/31/10
Denied at Capital (small white envelope).

Applied to Cooley today, I'm hoping for some scholarship money since my index is over 195. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I fractured my foot Monday evening and spent most of yesterday at the doctors. In addition to that, my rejection, and course work, this week has upgraded from a bad week to an awful week. Is it Friday yet?

3/29/10
I should be receiving a letter from Capital today about my decision. However it all depends on how efficient campus mail decides it will act today. Last week I flipped out on campus mail because they had been putting my letters in other peoples mail! Who knew that putting someone's mail in a designated mailbox was such a difficult task.

I don't have a chance of getting into OSU but I've yet to receive a rejection. I'm shocked that I wasn't thrown out of the pile as soon as they received my application a month ago and saw my LSAT. Maybe the person checking my application has dyslexia and they think I scored a 164 :)

3/26/10
Most of my applications moved into review this week. Ah the anticipation is killing me.

I've noticed a common trend I'm contemplating, so if you have any feedback feel free to leave a post. I've noticed that those of us who have scored under 150 on the LSAT but still have a strong package, seem to have applications that are in limbo. It takes a significantly longer time for us to hear back about our acceptance, and some of these schools do not even have anyone registered on a wait-list yet. Has anyone else noticed this?

3/25/10
Capital status checker says, "Review Complete & Decision Rendered" I'm pretty sure that means rejected, but I'll see once I receive the letter in a couple of days.

3/24/10
I am so glad that I've found this site because it has provided me with encouragement to apply to additional schools. I decided today that I am also going to apply to Appalachian School of Law and the University of The District of Columbia. Wish me luck!

3/23/10
Every morning I check the mail, my email, and then the online applicant status pages. No new news, but I suppose no news is good news.
CUA has completed organizing my information, now its judgement time. Hopefully it will work in my favor! Eek!

3/22/10
I've decided not to participate in the AAMPLE program.
No new updates. This process is testing my patience...

3/19/10
Was accepted into the AAMPLE program for Charlotte, Phoenix, and Florida Coastal.

3/18/10
Received a large packet from Capital today and got really excited. Unfortunately it was only a view-book.

3/17/10
Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Denied from Akron via email.
I went on an awful second job interview today. Conclusion: I really need to get into law school.

3/12/10
Denied from Case via email.
I guess having your parent attend the program means nothing.

3/10/10

Hello! Thank you for the well wishes. I understand that I only have a slim chance at Case, but at this point the rejections are not phasing me haha. Good luck with everything.

Tuesday, February 09 2010 at 07:00 PM

Good call on not doing the AAMPLE programs. I did one at FCSL last year and it was a total waste of time and money. It made lots of people angry. Good luck on your cycle...the wait is killing me too.

Monday, March 08 2010 at 07:00 PM

I belong to a local sorority, Gamma Kappa Pi, and I'll definitely keep my Dayton status updated (possibly by the second at this point, lol) also good luck at CUA!

AAMPLE
Tuesday, February 09 2010 at 07:00 PM

Hey the AAMPLE program was around 6 to 8 weeks from what I remember. You take two classes (at FCSL we took Negotiable Instruments and 4th Amendment) and the classes are online. You meet in a chatroom once a week for each class. The last week of classes you go to the respective school and take the test at the actual school. Something like 30 percent passed when I did it. Everyone felt ready for the tests but its pretty much a sham. It costs $3000 and you have to make at least a 2.5 average in both classes. Needless to say it was a wasted amount of time and money. Hope that helps. Tell your dad phi alpha ha.

Capital
Tuesday, May 05 2009 at 08:00 PM

It said Decision Rendered I believe. I was never that interested in going to Capital in the first place. I was digging through some old files and found my letter where they sent my status application stuff and I only checked it once. Hope all goes well for you the rest of the cycle.

Tuesday, May 05 2009 at 08:00 PM

What do you think your number one is right now?

Monday, January 25 2010 at 07:00 PM

Hey, all it said was "Review Complete & Decision Rendered", they don't seem to update their mailing status or fees either...

to answer your question, I applied from October 2009 to March 2010

Capital

My status checker said "Review Complete and Decision Rendered" and I got the letter in the mail 2 days later. Good luck.

Cleveland State
Sunday, January 24 2010 at 07:00 PM

Cleveland State was one of the first schools I heard back from. I think I sent my application around January 5th and got the acceptance and scholarship info about a month later. I'm about 90% sure I'll be at Capital so I am planning on withdrawling from most of my other schools today.

Good Luck
Monday, February 22 2010 at 07:00 PM

Good luck on your process. I understand how it feels to have a low LSAT. DO you have any real safety schools?

Dayton and OSU
Thursday, February 11 2010 at 07:00 PM

Hey there--OSU took about 11 or so weeks to get back to me after I applied. Dayton was more along the lines of 4-5 weeks. Good luck!

Says decision rendered and under status it says waitlist. They called and asked if I would interview, I called back to schedule it and they never returned my call. I didn't follow up because I had already decided against them, then the waitlist came.

Thursday, December 10 2009 at 07:00 PM

one thing i realized is that this whole process is annoying as hell. in terms of cooley they are the only school i got into so far and i found the best way to communicate with them is to actually call admissions office and ask for your person. say you have questions about your application. it worked for me, i get a response from them the same day usually. the good news though is that you have a good gpa that will def help

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually planning on calling them tomorrow. I mean I could see them holding out if I was waitlisted or something but in reality I haven't heard anything which I think is a bit ridiculous. If was not a Dayton native, I would have pulled my app a long time ago, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt I guess.

My status checker changed to 5/3/10 but still said application complete. I got a waitlist letter today. I have to send a letter of continued interest if i want stay on the wl and i would know by the 31st of the final decision. I figured I'll let you know just incase ur status date changes.

ONU
Monday, December 21 2009 at 07:00 PM

Yeah I saw that. But they one thing I have learned is not to always trust the numbers law schools put out, esp employment #s. Plus they raised tutition by 12.5%. It was 27,500 a yr, now its just shy of 31,000. That's not including COL. I've been having several discussions with the lawyers I work for, they just don't know how someone can afford it. 150,000 in student loans (which can't be discharged) It sucks so bad too cuz its such a dream killer. As much as I want to study and practice law, I also don't want to go 150,000 in debt (plus 17,000 I have from undergrad/grad) and end up struggling to find work like so many law grads are now. =( Sorry for the doom and gloom post, its just been on my mind so much lately. I've given up on Dayton, just gonna wait for the letter.

Monday, December 21 2009 at 07:00 PM

I'm honestly not sure. ONU was my second choice, but with the rising cost of tutition, the shaky legal market, how can one justify going 150,000 in debt. But at the same time, how can you give up on a dream you've had since you were a kid. It's definetly a difficult decision.

onu
Tuesday, May 05 2009 at 08:00 PM

to be honest, i haven't checked status checkers in a long time, including onu. I just got a letter in the mail one day and i thought it was a rejection but it was a waitlist notice. I also sent in an updated transcript to UD and they said that my application was still with the the review comitte and that i can expect to hear something pretty soon but who knows.

ONU
Monday, December 21 2009 at 07:00 PM

Schools update
Monday, December 21 2009 at 07:00 PM

that's just insane. I haven't even called Dayton since last month. I kept getting the same response every time so I just gave up with them. As for a game plan, I really don't have one. Still trying to figure things out as I go I guess.

Tuesday, May 05 2009 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, my status checker says waitlist accepted as well. I am pretty sure that it means that we have both just accepted the waitlist offer. Right now I am still waiting on UD. I am still in reveiw. If that doesn't come through then I am bound for Ave Maria and I will be pretty happy there. What about you?

just saw what you wrote on corey's page. That kinds sucks, accepted the waitlist offer, generally thats not what it is suppose to mean. I guess that also means they "lost" or "misplaced" my letter. Honestly its June and I haven't heard from them, doesn't give me a lot of time to find a place esp when I have litteraly no money. And besides I really really want to go to Germany in Sept for Oktoberfest and see my almost 3yr old niece and my new baby nephew.

As far as ONU goes, i received everything you did. I am going to hold out for UD as long as I can but as of right now I will be enrolling at Ave Maria in the fall. It is located in Naples, FL. I just want to know something. That link you sent me was awesome and according to that chart, I have about a 50-51% chance of getting in so I don't know what to think haha. Thanks again!

Dayton & ONU

I completely know how you feel. I still haven't heard anything from Dayton. When I call I get a different answer every time - "Your application is with the admissions committee, and they are in the process of rendering a decision," "The Dean of Admissions has it in her possession, and she will be making a decision on it shortly," the list is endless. I talk to the same lady every time, and she assures me that decisions are made in 2-6 weeks, at the max 8. It's been quite a bit longer than that, and it's been even longer for you! UD is my #1 choice. I went there for undergrad, and really hope I get to attend law school there as well. I'm just tired of the waiting. I talked to ONU yesterday, and they said it would still be a few more weeks before any decision was made. I thought we were supposed to know by June 15th, and before that May 31st, but oh well. I think I'm going to start applying for jobs because I'm getting pretty nervous. I don't want to be without a job come Novemeber, and my loans are due. Good luck with everything! Hopefully we'll both find out about Dayton...some day.

Accepted at UD

When I called today to check my status, they said I was Accepted! :) The letter I got in the mail today, though, said Waitlist. So, I called into to check what I had been told earlier -- and there was no mistake! Apparently, there was some kind of computer error -- and I think this might be what happened to you too -- since we have very similar numbers. So, call in on Monday. I hope you get good news too!

yeah i got waitlisted too. My guess is that they will wait and see how many people pay the seat deposit that is due on July 1, and then see how many people turn in the blue sheets and then go from there. Fingers crossed!!!!!

Good luck with your cycle! I have decided to attend Ohio Northern next fall. I was accepted to UD and will let them know next week that I plan on not attending. Hopefully they extend acceptance to you. Good Luck!!

Girl, I completely understand. My top choice is Samford but I am waitlisted there. However, Dayton was second so I went and checked it out and found an apartment. I dont see how these schools expect people to wait till almost the day of classes to notify us, then expect us to be bright eyed and ready to dive in to first year studies...I mean...you'd think they'd try to be slightly more aware of the transistion process!! Just hang in there...I am keepin' my fingers crossed for you!!
