Additional info & updates

I'm applying in the 2008-2009 cycle.
I'll be taking the LSAT in October. . . eek. My LSAT practice test scores so far have been: 153, 158, and 167. All have been timed.

Got my LSAT score back. It's not good, but not bad either. I decided not to retake and I'm not going to post it either. The number makes me sad. I'm not retaking it because the circumstances that I took it in the first time (my dad went into the hospital the Monday before the test) are still going on. Way too much stress to deal with a retake too.

The numbers next to the schools are Chiashu (2007) percentages, though I think the percentage for UNM is off, but oh well.

11/25/08

I'm not applying to anymore schools. I'm done. Of course, I told myself that a few applications ago...but I am honestly done this time. This is my final list. I think it's an alright list. Good mix of safeties, reaches, and targets. Hopefully I'll get in to most of them! I'm getting anxious for news especially since I've seen that people have already been accepted to Mizzou, Marquette, Michigan State, DU, and probably others.

12/12/08

In at Michigan State via email!

12/14/08

In at Marquette via snail mail! One of my top picks.

12/15/08

Checked mail, big white packet from SLU. Took the mail long enough, but yay! I can stay instate now. And received a nice holiday card from Marquette.

12.19.08

In at Quinnipiac via email! And Michigan State (through snail mail) is offering me a $15,000 for my first year. Suddenly, my dad loves Michigan...

12.29.08

Roommate told me yesterday that I had two regular sized envelopes, one from Quinnipiac and the other from Mizzou. Got into town today, found out that I was accepted to Mizzou and that Quinnipiac was offering a $16,000 scholarship for my first year. Yay. Fantastic day.

5 for 5 so far. I wish the other schools would just let me know so I could decide. I'm looking at you, Penn State, Northeastern, Temple, Denver, Case, and UMKC, yeah, you've made decisions on other applicants, make one on me and let me know! Thanks.

01.07.09

Status checker for Denver says 'Decision Processed.' How cruel! Just let me know if I'm in or not. At least I'll be finding out soon from them, or at least I hope so.

01.14.09

Email from Penn State. In! However, I still haven't heard from Denver. Sheesh, it's been a week! Is the mail really this slow? Ugh.

01.15.09

Haven't actually received mail from Denver saying that I'm in, but did receive an email from Denver's Career Development Center that said 'Congratulations on your recent acceptance to University of Denver Strum College of Law.' So I'm assuming that means I've been accepted. And I withdrew from UMKC because there is no chance that I'll be attending there over Mizzou.

01.16.09

Rejected from Northeastern via small white envelope. Boston is way too expensive anyway. It just would have been nice to have the option. Oh well. Got a large white packet from Denver and Marquette today. Yay.

01.25.09

Uh-oh. Status Checker for Temple has gone to 'Decision made' I'm sensing a rejection will be coming soon.

01.27.09

Got into Case Western via email. Pretty happy about it, I expected to be rejected or waitlisted. Yay for applying early!

01.30.09

Stupid Temple. Got my rejection letter (snail mail) today. Ugh. Oh well.

02.09.09

$18,000 from SLU today. In a big white envelope. Yay! Still think Mizzou is where I'll be next year...or rather in August I guess. Going to withdraw from Penn State soon.

02.12.09

$4,000 scholarship from Marquette in the mail today. Nice, but unfortunately, not enough to put it in Mizzou's price range.

02.16.09

Just received deferral email from Lewis and Clarke. Basically says they won't let me know if I'm on a waitlist or rejected or possible accepted until April/May. Ugh.

02.26.09

Big white envelope from the University of Oregon! Would love, love, love to go, but so far away and the economy is a bitch (meaning, no money for out of state tuition.) Oh well. Love Mizzou still.

03.17.09

Happy St. Pats! Withdrew from Penn State and Michigan State today. Will withdraw from the others...soon.

03.27.09

Withdrawn from Case, Quinnipiac and SLU. All great schools, just not right for me. Still like Marquette, Denver, and Oregon a lot, so hanging on to those for a bit longer. Will probably withdraw though after I visit Mizzou's Admitted Students Day and give them seat money, but just...not yet.

04.03.09

Attended the Admitted Students Day. It was okay, I guess. Just a mingling thing. Paid the seat deposit yesterday. Will be withdrawing from the other schools.

Thanks for the well-wishes. I'm only now starting to go complete at schools, so I don't expect to hear decisions for a while. Good luck to you!

Saturday, October 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

Good luck to you too! I'm going to do my best to update my status through the process. I've got 2 more schools to apply to, but I'm holding off until next week because I'm officially going broke applying. Do you have a top 3?

Denver & Marquette
Thursday, October 16 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey. Denver sent an email, but I have also heard that you get some snail mail too. Marquette was snail mail, and the dean wrote a note about the bottom, which gave it a nice touch! Good luck on your cycle.

hey thanks! I was sent an Email

Top 3

SLU, Mizzou and I've actually heard good things about Suffolk. My dream is BU, but I know that's a LONG shot.

Friday, April 25 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! Would love to end up in Denver one day, but doesn't look likely for law school. Even with the scholarship, UGA is STILL cheaper. They're both great schools though. Good luck with your cycle!

congrats!

on msu! we're applying to a few of the same schools. marquette's should be coming any day now!

Thanks!

Definitely is a relief. Congrats on Michigan State! This waiting game is killer. I'm skeptical about Depaul now b/c someone with my numbers got waitlisted. I hate this website b/c it kills my positivity.

SLU

Way to go on SLU! I'm getting so nervous. Did your status change to Decision mailed before you found out? Have you made a decision yet?

Fee Checker and Congrats
Tuesday, October 07 2008 at 08:00 PM

For the fee section on the online status, who knows the significance. I noticed the other day that it was added to my online status but I just like to get my hopes up. Also, congrats on your five for five so far.

Thank you!
Tuesday, January 29 2008 at 07:00 PM

And congratulations on your acceptances thus far! Do you have a favorite of the bunch?

Probably Michigan at this point with all things considered. I'm still waiting to hear back from some schools and see what kind of financial aid package they offer, but thus far I'm loving the Wolverines :)

Decision
Monday, February 11 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! I'm torn between the scholarship with John Marshall and Marquette being a better school overall. I want to see if Marquette offers any scholarship in February before I make a final decision. Your cycle is going fabulously so far! Let me know where you end up!

Yeah.

That fees section added onto all the status-checkers at the same time, since they all seem to work from the same template. I wouldn't read anything into that.

Very excited about the Wake thing. I've already booked my flight for a visit in a couple of months. Things have definitely taken a positive turn since I started out with Denver rejecting me. Congrats on having quite a few good options accept you already and best of luck on the rest of your cycle.

I'm going between Michigan, Harvard, and NYU right now. I'm still waiting for money to come down the pike and we'll see what happens :)

thanks. i've gotten a lot of congrats on the UWisconsin acceptance...ultimately, i think i will choose tulane, as wisconsin doesn't seem like they will be giving me any scholarship money, but i am still going to visit the school next month to give it a chance.
