Mo, Was very excited to be accepted anywhere. My cycle has been quite odd - held at Ivies, rejected at third-tier. I expected it to be the case with my interesting life story and professional work history. Denver is a great school and I'm honored to have been accepted so quickly by them. We'll see how the remainder of the cycle plays out. -Litigious

Rejects become holds?

Something interesting happened today. I was working on a pretty significant group of addendum to send to several schools but had already been dinged by W&M. I emailed the dean asking if they'd put me in a 5 day hold pending the new information and she replied "would be delighted". Will that get me in? Probably not. But I thought the Phoenix-rises-from-ashes maneuver was useful to know for those in similar circumstances.

Jim, You may be correct in your assertion. I'm still waiting on several more responses to see where I land. I found it suprising that Richmond didn't have any $$$ to share with me all things considered. Today, lo and behold, my theory about state schools was shattered. I was accepted by MSU. Ruins my theory that my softs are not that interesting to a state school. (I'm a public education basher because I went through the system...not a fan) Anyway, we'll have to see what the others have to say. More to post when info becomes available.

MSU

Your theory technically still holds because MSU Law is private, just affliated with the state school. THey are definitely still very much a private institution! Good luck on the rest of your cycle! You have some amazing options to choose from!

Come on Penn!

Update: Pulling out all the stops to get into Penn. Numerous updates to my application package sent, why Penn essay sent, personal letter to Dean Post pleading my case sent, additional letter of recommendation from a Penn PhD going out tonight. If I don't get into Penn I can't say I didn't try hard enough. Currently the lowest GPA/LSAT on the Penn waitlist but I'd argue I probably have the most interesting softs as well. I think most will know their fate before the end of May so here is to hoping for everyone's success in their law school endeavors.

Penn

If Penn were to accept me, I would go in a heartbeat. Thanks for the good wishes. Returning to reality, I'm struggling with deciding between Arizona and Ohio State. $$$, better weather, and healthier lifestyle versus familiarity (and family...kids in Ohio and Virginia). An acceptance at Penn would make this moot. You've appeared to have put a full-court press on Penn and withdrawn from your current acceptances. What's doing should Penn not happen? To be frank, we're both fairly distant from the school's demographics...but I wouldn't mind being an outlier. Best of luck in your endeavors!

What remains is to see if there is movement on the WL at UNC, Florida, Wisconsin and Iowa. Time will tell.

My decision
Thursday, March 04 2010 at 07:00 PM

I decided to stay in my occupation and only apply to Penn again this year. I can't justify leaving my legal/regulatory occupation for just any law school...it has to be Penn or nothing at all. Worse case, I continue to hire Penn lawyers and live vicariously through their JD degrees.
