LSAT- 158, 165 (162 avg.)
GPA- Really took a hit from some ill-advised community college right after high school- LSAC has it 3.47 (!) but degree granting GPA was 3.98, I'm assuming an addendum explaining this will help come decision time... Same with LSAT- I tested 163,164,170,172,172 before my 165 (and after the 158), so that's going in the addendum, too...

BTW, I'm old. 30, to be exact. Go Non-Trads!!!

Additional info & updates

Trying to discern the meaning of statistical tea leaves as I get a final list of schools together to apply this fall. In the meantime, studying economics at me alma mater...

Registered to retake the LSAT on Oct. 1, 2005. Not happy about the 158 but hopefully I'll get that score up a bit in October. If I can score mid-160s, I might consider some more Top 50 schools...

Michigan native, former Asquared resident- what will it take to justify applying to UofM (besides a 170 and some $$)?

Considering Canadian schools as well (my significant other is a resident alien from the snowy north), though this site apparently doesn't collect info on canook schools...

7/2005- Got email invites from Denver and Ohio Northern... Encouraging as DU is in my Top Five. Maybe after a better LSAT score more will be on the way?

7/27- Invites from Pierce and Seattle...

9/06- Invites from TJ, Cooley, Denver (again), Willamette... Scored a 170 on a p-LSAT Saturday... Woo-hoo!

9/17- 172 on PLSAT.

10/26- Fee waiver from Temple. So I guess I'll apply there.

10/28- Fee waiver from McGeorge. This is getting ridiculous with the large number of schools I'm considering...

10/29- Fee waiver from George Mason. Don't think I can ever bring myself to move to Virginia...

11/04- Fee waiver from Washington and Lee. Meh.

11/06- Invite (but no waiver) from Cardozo. Think I might have to pony up and apply there.

11/08- Fee waiver from Cardozo.

11/17- Fee waiver from Michigan, via email.

12/3- FIRST ACCEPTANCE!!! Colorado. 8.5"x11" manila envelope.

12/10- Acceptance from San Diego. Slightly-larger-than-letter-sized yellow envelope marked "first class"...

12/24- Got acceptances from DU and McGeorge. DU- small white envelope, McGeorge large white envelope. Personal note of congratulations from ADA at McGeorge, plus offer to pick up the tab for all books first year. huzzah.

1/6- Full ride (almost) at Willamette. They offered me $23,000 per. That warrants a visit, at least. HOORAY! (first full ride)

1/11- FINALLY granted a fee waiver from Davis, two months after sending in my app and one and a half months after receiving a "complete notice." ARRGGGG!!!

1/21- Bad news: rejected by UM;
Good news: Got an offer for $17,400 from DU...

2/2- Phone call from Lewis and Clark!!! I'm in!!! The lady I spoke with said my admissions packet should be arriving in about a week. Awesome!!!

5/14- Well, I'm signed up to attend SCU next fall with a 3/4 scholarship BUT... After missing the deposit deadline with CU- for financial reasons, i.e., I'm broke as a joke- I'm having SERIOUS second thoughts about leaving Colorado for California. CU has withdrawn their admission offer but I've requested I be placed on the waitlist anyway, on the off-chance they'd be willing to admit me twice in the same year! Hopefully they will. Though SCU is giving me a truckload of $$$ to go there, CU is such a great school that I feel like a real dumbass for not ponying up the $200 for first deposit. My sweetie lives in Colorado and it's going to be real hard leaving her, too. So, the SCU opportunity- and it IS a GREAT opportunity for me, given my subpar LSAT performances- is kinda bittersweet.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone.

UPDATE: With Hastings, I'm now 0-3 with the UC schools. They all cost too much anyway!!!

5/29- After failing to send in my CU deposit due to extreme brokeassed-ness, having my offer withdrawn, and then pleading to get back on the waitlist, I have been RE-admitted for next fall. So now I have a really great problem- choosing between two top 100 schools that both want to give me money! Oh, the humanity!
Going up to SC next week to check it out again, but it's going to be hard to turn down CU twice!

6/5- Colorado it is. Go Buffs!

7/22- In at Colorado but may be considering a last-minute switch to USD. Depends on a scholarship offer. Waiting...

7/26- I am really f-ing lucky to have the chance to do this. I am moving to San Diego in two weeks and will be attending USD this fall. Fo weal.
Respek.

Thanks for the encouragement. Maybe I'll be seeing you at DU in 2006!

Wow. I'm totally impressed. I'm sure your mailbox is going to be full of acceptances!! Hopefully you'll be happier with the LSAT results - although you'd probably be considered even now for the top 50s with your GPA, awards, ECs and work experience. Good luck!

I'm looking at Ottawa and Windsor because of the joint degrees. Which canuck school are you going for? (btw, the deadline for Ontario schools is Nov. 1 - not sure if you knew)

You can go law school anywhere in Canada and be fine for practicing anywhere else. You only write the bar for the specific province after you've articled for a year in that province. So really, you have three years during law school to decide where you want to be.

I checked their site and I couldn't find anything about a joint degree with Econ

Powerscore
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Powerscore. I took the eight week class. It helped a lot, though obviously I wish I would've done as well on the real thing as I was doing on the tests we had in class. But the seven points does make a difference, hopefully. They're one of the best prep courses to take for the money, which is pretty steep. Same as Kaplan, though, and I've heard some bad things about their courses. Of course, it helps if you are willing to neglect all of your other responsibilities for a couple months and get yourself fully immersed in LSAT madness...

Congrats!! Did you end applying to Canuck schools at all?

Naw...
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Me and the wife have been having, um, PROBLEMS, and it turned out to be too much of a hassle to get everything together in a reasonable way. So, no. There is still a good possibility that I will move up north after graduating from an American school/ practicing a few years. I can't take the way this country is heading politically and, in the wake of the Canadian Supreme Court's decision protecting orgies and group sex, well, how can I resist? ;) how bout you? Did you get in anywhere yet?

good times with that outrageous law. just a little disturbing... still waiting to hear back from all the cdn schools (Alberta, Windsor, Ottawa). I think I'm heading south though..more chance of moola.

On the contrary...

... I wasn't kidding. If consenting adults can't shag each other's partners in properly seedy sex clubs, the terrorists win. Seriously though, Canada seems to have been reining in the nanny state impulse more successfully than the US govt in recent years.

Um...

... no. Sorry.

To wit:
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

I use this site to gauge my own chances for admission to various schools, but the indexing feature uses only the LSDAS GPA, not my degree-granting, so unless I use the latter GPA, this site is kind of worthless if I am operating on the assumption that my addenda regarding earlier college work is accepted. And yes, I AM operating under this assumption. So, again, sorry if this screws stuff up for everyone else. I'm betting it really doesn't, though. I am one user out of several thousand on this site, and I just don't think I'm messing up the curve all that much. Anyways...

Kudos!

Think the two of us have the greatest recorded difference between UGPA and LSDASGPA on LSN. That took more effort than most folks realize! ; - ) Congrats on your acceptances thusfar and good luck on your pending apps.
