Additional info & updates

05/22/09- Sometime earlier this month I was admitted off Vanderbilt's and Notre Dame's waitlists with scholarships. I've decided to go to Vandy unless Cornell comes through with money, however since that is very unlkely I'm going to go ahead and put up my little "A" for Vandy.
4/27/09- Rejected from Northwestern and being held earlier. I don't think I would've passed up Emory to go there anyway, mostly because living in a big city would be tough with my dogs. As of right now I'm going to Emory, although I would reconsider if I got into Cornell, Vandy or ND. Even if I was admitted to one of those 3 it would still take some $$$ to sway me away, which I believe is improbable coming from a WL candidate, so realistically I'll be in Atlanta this fall!
4/3/08- Got 9k/year need grant from GW Law and just received word of 20k/year at Villanova. I had it narrowed down to those two schools and Emory with Emory being a huge favorite. GW Law and Villanova both mentioned that more aid may be available later but couldn't be determined until after seat deposits. I don't feel like spending hundreds of dollars to find out I *might* qualifiy for more money. I skipped GW Law's ASD today after I realized that I wouldn't be going, plus with three dogs DC would be a hassle anyway.
3/28/09- Strange WL from W&M, although I was expecting it since it's been so long since I applied. No big deal though. Withdrawing from most schools, I'm pretty set on Emory unless I get off a waitlist.
3/12/09- Scholly at WUSTL via email
3/2/09- Dinged at Chicago via USPS. No big shock here.
2/25/09- In at GWU via email. Very pleasantly surprised I heard back so fast. Mentioned that merit aid would be distributed within the next couple weeks.
2/20/09- 78k total from Emory via USPS
2/19/09- Villanova via email (for ASW invite) and USPS, damn it took long enough! I'm still really considering Villanova as I'm from the Philly region and would like to come back here.
2/17/09- Dinged @ Dook
2/13/09- A couple days ago a got a ding at UVa via email but couldn't post due to "problem with sessions". $$ from W&L, they are one of my top choices and if I can get some need $$ there is a really good chance I'll go there.
2/6/09- WL at UIUC via e-mail. I would never have gone there anyway considering my other acceptances, but it still stings and continues to make me nervous about my application. I elected to stay on the waitlist because I'm a total masochist.
1/31/09- WL from Vandy even after interviewing. Pretty big blow, not many people are WL'd there with my numbers and it was one of my top choices including if I got into T14 schools- has to be because of my multiple (3) LSATs or something else with my application. Ugh, I'll still write a LOCI and stay on.
1/29/09- Got an offer for 20k a year from Wake. However, it also included an invite for a "scholars weekend", which I would have to attend if I wanted to be considered for a $$$$ scholly. Also mentioned that after several students are selected for free summer abroad programs in Venice/Vienna. The whole program sounds awesome, I've never visited Europe and have always wanted to. Wake Forest is a dream school of mine and I would have accepted this offer quickly if a Wake degree was portable to where I want to wind up working. Very generous and beautiful school. Also withdrawing from UConn for the same reasons, don't want to worry about finding a job back home after school. Judging by past years on LSN I may have been offered more money from UConn and Wake shortly, so anyone using my information to gauge their chances: be aware that I withdrew before such offers.
1/26/09- In at Emory via snail mail in a big, yellow envelope. I just noticed this has come exactly 1 month since applying, I wish other schools had such a quick turn around!
1/24/09-Rejected at GULC via USPS. Thought I would at least get PT.
1/23/09- WL'd at BU. I'm beginning to thinking my multiple (3) LSATs is weighing heavily on my admission decisions.
1/13/09- Deferred at Northwestern via email
1/12/09- Rejected at MIchigan via USPS
12/22/08- W&L via USPS, Cornell deferred to RD
12/20/08- In at Wake Forest via USPS
12/19/08- Rejected at Penn via USPS
12/18/08- In at George Mason via phone call
12/15/08- WL at Notre Dame via USPS
12/12/08- In at WUSTL via email
11/28/08- In at UConn via USPS
11/13/08- Finally finished up sending apps with GULC, Duke and Chicago out of the way. Decided not to apply to Harvard or NY schools.
10/25/08- Slightly disappointing LSAT, but I am largely satisfied. I'm in a much better position now than I would be if I had enrolled last cycle. Taking a year off was worth it (well, I guess we'll ultimately see at the end of the cycle) Decided to apply ED to Penn
10/21/08- I've sent out about 7 apps so far. Northwestern interview tomorrow, Oct LSAT results should be in by the end of the week
9/18/08 - Retaking test it Oct

good luck on the lsat... i assume the schools are based on your whole range of possible LSATs. But hey! maybe we'll end up at temple together

haha

you keep pushing penn. I just don't know, the city has left such a bad taste in my mouth. If I go to a big city, I'm a huge chicago cubs fan, so I'd love northwestern above all else. My feelings for philadelphia are kinda like when you see a really hott girl, then here some gross, dirty story about her that ruins it, and no matter how much you try to look at how hott she is, you just can't get over the weird guys she hooked up with and the STD's she might possibly have. Does that make sense? It seems we have a couple schools that are similar as well, hopefully they stay on the list after you whittle it down. Also, don't take it personally, but I accidentally deleted your message on my wall when trying ro respond. I'm an idiot.

I have no real desire to practice anywhere. I'd like somewhere new, I think, and somewhere that's at least a decent sized city. Also, I have no desire whatsoever to practice big law. I'm leaning towards human rights law, I think.

AAAAHHHHHH
Sunday, July 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm sitting here on the lsac page, about to click to apply to the University of Michigan. As I was finishing up the application, I looked at their website, and seemed to fall in love with the school. Now, I'm considering checking the ED box. It suddenly seems like a great idea. I know its a rash decision, but I can't stop myself. I need someone to talk me out of this, but its 4 in the morning EST and everyone is sleeping. AAAHHH

I like how you are applying to 45 law schools, much more dedication tan i'll ever have

In the long run, I'm not EDing anywhere. We'll see if that comes back to bite me in the ass.

Sorry I didn't fulfill your amazing desires of LSN messaging fun... I got kind of busy at work... I hope you had fun being a LSN ninja all afternoon.

How funny...

I was just thinking about your little comment about clinking glasses in Harvard Yard today! Glad to see you around! Cheers for the facebook link but I'm not on there!

I let you down

I'm so sorry I let you down, Ginger-licious... I'll try never to let it happen again.

Northwestern Interview
Wednesday, July 23 2008 at 08:00 PM

Had my interview a month ago. Be prepared and it will be easy. You'll do fine.

Monday, June 23 2008 at 08:00 PM

I am applying for the 2010 cycle...i am getting a fat check in December from a settlement, and decided that it is probably better for my sanity to take the year off and polish my apps etc. I am sure you didn't mis-bubble :P kthxbai

woo!
Monday, June 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Looks like your LSAT went up! Don't think mine will get me into Harvard Yard but meh. Hope the Northwestern interview went well!

Congrats on the improvement!! :) I am hoping my year off will mirror the same success as yours. (i was planning on covertly stalking you by attending the same school-but u thwarted my plans sir!)

Ni!
Monday, June 23 2008 at 08:00 PM

Newp...I didn't take the LSAT - I think Unicorns are exempt :/ In all seriousness, prolly take it in Feb or June since I am not applying till next year anyway. How did the NW interview go?

Monday, June 23 2008 at 08:00 PM

Good to hear they like (as you called it)"walk" experience, I been walking for 27yrs, I believe i am qualified, lol. I am defending next semester-officially hooded on May 10th. So is Penn the top choice? U have no interest on moving out to the West Coast?

That you do....good job Just glad no one else from the AL East won it.....

Cool, thanks, I'm all about leadership. I can totally talk about how I resolved the fight Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Delta got into over whether there should be tongue involved in the kissing booth at the charity carnival we ran (of course you know what side Kappa was on)

Monday, June 23 2008 at 08:00 PM

How anxious are you right now to hear?? Gosh, I am nervous for you, although I am pretty sure your cycle will be totally smooth, I just want your cycle to start already!! GRRR (re-reading that, it almost sounds like I am your nervous bf talking about your "monthly-cycle", lol)

Cornell
Monday, May 12 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hope to see you in Ithaca next year. We can make fun of crunchy hippies together.

Yea - only three
Monday, May 12 2008 at 08:00 PM

I am only applying to those three schools. I got into Fordham last year, and I know I'll get in again this year. I almost gave them a seat deposit, but thought I could improve my LSAT score and maybe get into Cornell and/or Northwestern. Cornell waitlisted me last year with a 166, so hopefully an EA application with a 167 will let me slip in. Northwestern is pretty much out - I had hoped for a higher retake. At the same time, I just visited NU and I didn't really like Chicago. NU is a great school, but Cornell is closer to family/friends. It is looking like my top choice. I hope to get in!

so, neurotic as I am, I'm definitely going to be watching to see when you hear back from Penn... when you do, PLEASE post it right away! I may or may not have applied ED too... *cough*

Sunday, July 20 2008 at 08:00 PM

still says under review. he said the letters won't be going out until the end of next week, so you may not even hear until the 8th

hey
Monday, January 21 2008 at 07:00 PM

hey just saw your comment! good luck to you too!! hope we both make it to Penn! But, i'm actually scared because a few ED people have been accepted already, and usually the school send out acceptances on the same day right?? i'm abroad, so it's even harder waiting for the mail to come all across the pacific ocean :( well good luck

Bro...
Monday, May 12 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on WUSTL. That's definitely a great school. I'm not sure where you plan on working, but I'm assuming that it's back in the Northeast. You know where to go to lock down those firms (wink, wink). At any rate, I found it slightly funny that I doubled those applications the day before hearing from Cornell as well. I found it less funny when I realized that I spent 236 bucks... Also, apparently all the other schools fall into the 'bust' category.

Congratulations!
Wednesday, September 17 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on WUSTL!!

hey
Monday, January 21 2008 at 07:00 PM

sorry to see the rejection at penn there.:( i also applied ED, almost identical numbers. now i can assume what's waiting for me too. when did your status change?dec 16th? anyways! dont let this thing get to you, you will get into a fine school no doubt!

Thanks!

If I had to bet, I'd say BU waitlisted you for yield protection, not 3 multiple LSAT scores... FWIW.

Sorry about BU and GT :( Their loss!

Congrats on Villanova!

Sunday, August 31 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, it's getting to be a bit much...

I'm not sure
Sunday, July 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm not sure how I feel about my cycle. I've still gotten into some great schools, and I know I'll be happy at them, but I'm a little disappointed on all the waitlists. I'm going to be riding the Michigan and Vandy ones hardcore. With the small amount of money WashU gave me, I'm not going to waste a trip. I sent them a scholarship negotation email, which I think they just threw away and laughed at. But if they reup the scholly, I'll visit on my own time later. How about you?

Emory
Wednesday, October 31 2007 at 08:00 PM

Emory was my super reach. But I will definately come visit. I just love Atlanta. Looks like I'm stayin in VA

Thanks!
Wednesday, September 17 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thank you! I am likely deciding between Cornell, BC, USC, and I think I will ride out the UCLA waitlist. You have some great choices as well, and that scholly at Emory is bomb.

Sunday, June 22 2008 at 08:00 PM

Whoops- anonymous^^= me

Sunday, June 22 2008 at 08:00 PM

I guess, in a way, I have been babied- I got a full ride for undergrad, so I am graduating debt-free. The idea of having 2 degrees and not owing a penny for them was just too much for me to turn down. Also, I want to practice in the state of Kentucky, and UK tends to do very well here.

Unnniiiie!
Monday, June 23 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey! So whats the final verdict? You have some REALLY great choices! :)

Congrats!!
Monday, June 23 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey hey hey! So excited to hear about Vandy! Congratulations!
