Additional info & updates

01/22/09 - In the end, like so many others before me, I didn't end up applying this cycle. I got accepted into one of my top choices for grad programs, and will be attending the London School of Economics (LSE) this fall for an M.Sc. Best of luck to everyone else in their cycles!
______
24/10/08 - Well got my Oct. LSAT back and I'm not surprised with the number I got. Am I capable of doing a lot better? Yes. But I knew coming out of that test that it was not my best but I certainly wasn't going to retake in Dec. So we'll see how things work out. I've got a Northwestern interview scheduled for next week and I plan on submitting my app's anyway since I have a strong UGPA. We'll see how the cards fall.
________
07/08/08 - My academic summary is up at LSAC now and the numbers are official. I expect my LSAC gpa to go up once my final summer transcript is sent in, pending my final grade in my last course
_________
24/07/08 - Updated my GPA. I won't submit my transcript until I'm done my summer courses but I think this might (hopefully!) be how LSAC converts my GPA over. We'll see.
_________
03/07/08 - Just got my LSAT today and I must admit I was shocked to see the 159 staring back at me. The very worst I thought I could have done was a 165. I've already registered for October and plan to overcompensate for the mark which is no way a reflection of what I'm capable of doing. I know I could alter my school list to be more 'realistic' but I don't believe in working that way. I'm going to do the best that I can in October and re-assess again at that point and write the best applications I can. I'm leaving all my numbers and info up as they are because I don't really think I have anything to hide. I'm going to try, try again. What more can you say. Others who are in the same boat - please shoot me a comment or a note and let me know how you are going about things!
_________

Completed first year of university abroad, when I returned to Canada I wasn't happy in the program or at the university so I moved to London, UK and worked there for two years, the majority of the time as an admin asst. in an international loss adjusting firm. Moved back to Canada and transferred uni's and programs.

Since my first year, I increased my average by roughly 10% so this affects my gpa. My current average is 84%. My LSDAS gpa is just a rough estimation at this point. Most if not all Canadian universities consider anything above an 80% to be an A. Other than that, all I know is that I'm in the top 10% of my department of my university, no idea on rank or overall rank.

June LSAT :(

Hey, Ijust wanted to say I\'m in a very similar situation with the LSAT, I had been testing around 167-170 and was also shocked to end up with a 159. I was aiming for a lot of the same top schools too. Good to know I\'m not the only one, and I\'m sure October will be better for both of us. Good luck!!

Are you applying to Canadian schools as well? I know you said that your SO was not big on the States, but you seem to be applying only to American schools.

And the waiting game comes upon us again!

Hey Meggo
Saturday, July 05 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey Meggo -- We both took the June and October LSATs... I scored 1 below you in the June LSAT (158) and 1 below you in the October LSAT (162)... (I'm ak362 on the boards, but I've stayed away for the most part) Anyway, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck this app cycle...

Hey
Friday, September 28 2007 at 08:00 PM

Well, I'm glad that you are OK with your score. It's not a terrible score by any means, and you could definitely get into some good schools.

You need to add one or two.

Hi
Thursday, March 19 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hi, I'm new to this and since you discussed GPAs, can you explain to me how to figure out my LSDAS GPA? I've already graduated and sent my complete transcripts to LSDAS but I'm not sure where to find their calculation for my GPA. Thanks! (Also, I want to apply to a lot of the same schools as you!)

LSE!!!
Wednesday, March 10 2010 at 07:00 PM

Good luck on LSE! I got accepted into their Diploma for Graduates in Finance a month ago (since I don't have much math on my transcript), and I'm going to finish it and, like you, apply for the MSc if I don't get into a top-tier law school. Which MSc did you end up doing, and do you have any tips on getting into the full-time program at LSE?
