12/31/10 - I was deferred from Columbia ED on December 16th at 4:45PM via email. To be honest I am very surprised and am not entirely sure what went wrong. My application was a bit rushed and my essays were not as polished as they could have been. Overall I am discouraged but will not be giving up! I plan to rewrite my essays, update my transcript (putting me at their 75th for GPA) and I have even lined up some fairly prestigious volunteer work. I'm also going to send some extra apps out. At this point it is pretty late in the cycle but if need be I will wait an extra year - I am young and there are a lot of things I would like to do and see before committing myself to a career.

12/13/10 - NYU Admissions are you reading this?! I ask because I received a fee waiver in the mail from NYU today! I was ecstatic and will be putting together everything tomorrow and hopefully having my app out by Friday. Thanks NYU! :D

12/08/10 - Well it's been nine days since decisions were first released so it seems like we should all be hearing back within the next week. Having not heard back yet I'm kinda getting into panic mode but keeping confidence! I'm hoping that the reason I haven't heard a decision yet is because I went complete so late. All decisions I've seen so far were dated 11/30 so I'm inclined to think that in actuality only one round of decisions have gone out. I suspect we might be hearing some decisions today or later this week though that might be wishful thinking.

11/23/10 - Columbia ED app was received and is pending completion. Supposedly the typical days to hear back on CLS ED are December 1-2 so I expect my next update will be in about a week! Once I do or don't hear back from CLS I'm going to send out my app to NYU. Don't have the money to send out a $92 app if its gonna be unnecessary unfortunately. Got a couple of good fee waivers including Virginia and UCLA I believe but I'm not sure how I feel about traveling that far so I probably won't take advantage of either.

10/30/10 - Hmm... it's been quite awhile since my last update. Took the LSAT in June and canceled, knowing I didn't do well. Quit studying until September and PT'd average was 174 at the end of the month. Nailed 6 or so 179/180s. October results are a 172, not too bad! EDing to Columbia and I'm pretty hopeful! If I get deferred I'm going to go for T6.

Somewhere during my senior year I decided to do an extra year after realizing I was a bit behind on credits so I will be applying in Fall 2010 instead of Fall 2009. Didn't study much for this year as my UG classes were very tough. I also decided to up my goals at this point and to shoot for CLS, especially after seeing the school and how nice it is!

02/28/09 - Just started my profile... I'm currently a Junior, preparing to apply to Law School next semester.

My dream schools are Cornell but I don't know if that is realistic. I cold tested first time at a 161 or 162 I believe which isn't bad. I've studied for a few weeks now and am averaging in the mid-160s, with the occasional low 170s on practice LSATs... Ive managed a 178 and 175 at different points but I think those mightve been outliers. Im hoping to do at least as well as the low 170s in June.

Good luck on CLS- you have an excellent shot with your ED!

Thanks bro...

...hope to see you there as well! Though I think you have a much better shot than I with the 172.

Thanks

Thanks man, I definitely hope so too. Your 3.8 makes you a little more stable in the ED pool since that's over their median, whereas mine is very slightly under. And seeing as how in your info you mention NYU and the $92 fee, are you sure you don't have a hidden NYU fee waiver (doesn't show up until you have to submit, but you CAN get to that point without actually submitting the app)?

Best of luck homie

Hey twin. Only my stats were fudged and still are lol. I'm sure you're a lock ED to Columbia! Maybe I'll see you in NYC next fall.

Good luck with your ED at Columbia! I know how hard the waiting game can be. I thought about applying ED at Columbia too, but decided to take my chances. Maybe we will see each other in the Fall. (and yes, some people have read your additionally information, but you can keep venting anyways)

I'm sorry about the news with Columbia. I think this is all a bit more of a crap shoot than we are sometimes led to think. When you mention re-working essays, do we mean your personal statement and a "Why Columbia?" or what?

WTF?

Sorry about CLS man. Same thing happened to me. Hurry with those other apps. Late apps can be a death sentence.
