Additional info & updates

Huge list of info, but it might interest future 0Ls?:

4/4 Haven't updated in awhile buuut..

I visited NYU this weekend and was really impressed. I was offered the AnBryce today and will be taking it! I am incredibly grateful and never ever would have expected this at the start.

Thanks for the continued support and advice I've gotten along the way!!! :)

2/18 Chicago scholarship info via email

2/17 Duke scholarship came via snail mail :)

2/5 DLS via status checker (yesterday or today?) at Stanford. Not surprised, but somewhat disappointed. About done with acceptances/rejections now, just waiting for scholarship info!

2/2 Held at Columbia- BOOOO.

1/24 Going crazy over my lack of VCE from Columbia.. doesn't look good :(

1/10 Held at Harvard (Seriously proud of not getting dinged.. is that sad?) and IN at Chicago!!

12/28 Scholarship info from Michigan via snail mail

12/21 In at Boston via phone call

12/17 In at Northwestern via email- wasn't expecting a decision so early!

12/13 In at Cornell with invitation to apply for scholarship (via email)

12/11 Received my purple envelope, it's official at NYU. Really wish this process weren't so long..

12/3 "Decision mailed" in NYU status checker.. guessing such an early decision means I'm in, 'cause otherwise I would be very sad and very embarrassed.. lol

11/22 In at Michigan via status at decision and logging into admitted students website :) ...and package in the afternoon. Dad says it looks nice- can't wait to see it, Michigan has been really impressive thus far!

11/19 In at W&M via status checker :)

11/9 Had my Northwestern interview-- nothing unusual

11/8 In at UVA with half tuition scholarship!! Question is.. can I go back? hmm.

9/24 In at Duke via email :-D Feels amazing, and Duke is one of my favorites!

Waaaiting.

UVA scholarship

is the $62,000 that you were offered at UVA what they put on the acceptance letter? They offered it to me as well, but didn't say how much it was exactly. Congrats on Northwestern!

Friday, October 01 2010 at 08:00 PM

lol, you're right! He's rooting for Chicago or NYC (of course I would love those acceptances!). If I decide I don't want to go to UVA, I can hopefully use them to leverage money elsewhere. The more I look into UVA though...

Thanks! Congrats on your acceptances so far, too!

Howdy! I noticed we got into Chicago on the same day. Pretty exciting! I hope we both fair well in the upcoming Columbia craze.

I'm very interested to see what Chi gives us TFAers... it says 30k, but is that per year or for all 3 years? I must know!

oh man. 90k at Chicago would make my decision for me. for real.

Friday, October 01 2010 at 08:00 PM

hmm not sure what to make of you getting 30k and another tfa getting $0... I hope they don't make me wait too long for the package.

Saturday, February 26 2011 at 07:00 PM

Fellow TFA alum applying. Congrats on your acceptances thus far & good luck with Harvard & Columbia. Where/what did you teach?

Saturday, February 26 2011 at 07:00 PM

Elementary in the Bronx. Now at a charter.

Wednesday, September 15 2010 at 08:00 PM

@ the poster above: Yeah it was definitely a generous offer, but Cornell is more expensive than UVA so the total difference between the 2 ends up being about $15K- I would rather take UVA for the minimal price difference :)

NYU

Congratulations on making an excellent choice. That's a great deal of money you got there. Well done!

Saturday, October 09 2010 at 08:00 PM

Congratulations on NYU! That's really really fantastic!

Friday, October 01 2010 at 08:00 PM

Congrats!! So happy for you. Sad we won't be classmates, but what an incredible opportunity for you!

Friday, October 01 2010 at 08:00 PM

ideally Chi would be more affordable - still in negotiations. Will probably end up in Chicago at one or the other. Visiting this week, so I guess I'll figure it out soon!

Wednesday, September 15 2010 at 08:00 PM

To the above poster: I don't think that the TFA name by itself helped me get in- I pretty much got in where my numbers said I should. That said, it did help in other ways- fee waivers, having something substantial to write about in my personal statement, etc. I don't think these are good reasons to do TFA- and not in the "zOMG you don't want to help the children!" kind of way but in a "I think it could be a bad personal decision" kind of way. If you want more info/have questions about TFA, feel free to send me a message!

As a late response to your question, I am not only leaning, but have accepted my Chicago offer. I hope you enjoy NYU. Good job on the full tuition scholarship! Truly incredible!
