Additional info & updates

1/6/10 - Behind the eight-ball, but I'm filling out these apps like crazy. Having taken the LSAT in December and working more than full-time, I gotta roll with the hand I'm dealt. Oh well...more schools to come.

1/10/10 - Whoohoo! I think I'm done. Now comes the crazy waiting game. We'll see what happens.

1/25/10 - Well that was fast! I received a voicemail message from MSU Law congratulating me on my admission to the school. Apparently materials are being mailed and should make it to me before the week is through. It'd be nice if there's some scholarship dollars included, but it's nice to be accepted. Hopefully a sign of good things to come.

2/1/10 - Another voicemail, this time from UNL. Pretty excited about this one. With the relatively low cost of tuition and decent employment numbers, Nebraska would be a solid choice for my little family. Like MSU, more info is due to come in the mail. I also saw that my decision letter from DePaul is coming.

2/5/10 - My wife called me at work and informed me that we had received a bunch of mail. I of course asked her to open the envelopes and see what the decisions were. I'm in at Marquette and Texas Tech! Waitlisted at DePaul. Fabulous Friday!

2/8/10 - In at KU Law. I'm very happy about this. Was told in my acceptance letter that I'd be notified if I'm selected for a scholarship. I'm going to start calling admissions offices this week for some follow-up questions.

2/16/10 - Received a fat envelope from Drake today. I'm in. I was informed that I'm "eligible" for a $17K per year scholarship. The details around this are vague however. Looks like I may have to submit more info to find out the actual amount being offered.

2/19/10 - I got a funny email from WVU today. It alerted me to this Class of 2013 site they had. It talked about all this helpful information we'd be able to apprise ourselves on for the upcoming school year. The thing is I haven't received any notification of my acceptance prior to this. Upon my reaching out, the admissions assistant confirmed that I'm accepted.

2/23/10 - Received word from both Colorado and Cincinnati Law today. I was dinged at both places. Not a total surprise. Feels kind of strange since I've been so fortunate up to this point. The double whammy wasn't great but it's cool. I still have good choices.

2/26/10 - Waitlisted at Oklahoma. Kind of bummed about that. Thought I'd be a shoo-in with my acceptances with Kansas and Nebraska. Right now however I'm having a hard time not thinking about Texas Tech with their relatively low cost of tuition. I'm just past the halfway point now in my cycle. It's made for interesting mail. It'd be sweet to get into one of my reach choices.

3/2/10 - In at Gonzaga and Louisville. Waitlisted at Penn State. Gonzaga threw some dollars at me, making them a serious contender. Currently they're probably my top choice along with Texas Tech. I might have to visit both of them, but we'll see what the rest of the cycle brings.

3/24/10 - Saw that I was waitlisted at Memphis today. I laughed. Getting ready to go out to Lubbock for Admitted Students Day. Unfortunately Gonzaga's is on the same day. Since I have more questions about TT I opted to visit them. However, I'm still looking into doing an individual visit at Gonzaga early next month.

3/30/10 - Dinged at UW. Would've been awesome, but I can't say I'm surprised by the decision. Visited Lubbock on Admitted Students Day. I liked what I saw. The faculty were cool and the students were very candid about what to expect.

4/14/10 - Keeping Zag and TT as my primary options. Letting the others fall by the wayside.

Thanks, good luck with your cycle too (especially UW, I love Seattle). Welcome to the waiting game of checking status checkers everyday. Which Senator did you intern for?

Good luck with your cycle! Anywhere in particular you are dying to attend?

I decided to apply to Marquette because it's close to my family and I like the Milwaukee area. I could really see myself going there. Now if only they would let me know if I'm in or not...

Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement. Hopefully they won't keep you waiting too long. Remember, it's really only the first one that counts, after that it's all icing on the cake!

Congrats

KU

Thanks! I have heard nothing but great things about Lawrence--I'm excited to visit. And congrats on Nebraska and MSU! I'm from Michigan so if you want to know anything about the area, let me know.

Congrats

Congrats on KU!!! Did you apply for fall term or summer start? Also, I am current undergrad student at KU if you have any questions about the town or school don't hesitate.

Yeah their tuition is pretty great. *If* I get off the waitlist it will be hard not to go, but I have been here for three years so I would like to go somewhere else to change things up. Plus, Me and Lawrence don't get along very well, so signing up for three more years would be a hard thing to do. Yeah OKC scholarship is a nice alternative, but I would be to nervous of future job prospects to actually attend. I would probably go the Washburn route before OKC. It is nice to be wanted though! Your gonna have to make some tough decisions soon, but a good problem to have! GL

Tech

Tech isn't really on my radar at the moment unless they can offer me some kind of major financial aid between now and the end of March. Congrats on KU!

looks like you're killing it so far. keep it up!

Just FYI...

Lubbock is awesome and Tech's law school is very up-and-coming. IMO, it is a much better option than Gonzaga...

hey

Just wondering if you made a decision yet? I had the same top choices as you (Texas Tech and Gonzaga). I visited Lubbock and was quite impressed by the school, but ultimately decided on Gonzaga since I am already in the area and want to practice up here when I'm done. I think Gonzaga will be better in that regard than TT. How about you?

yeah

I agree that the MBA program at TT was an attraction. I definitely considered it, but with my family it just made more sense to stay in the area here and go to GU. Anyway, good luck with school. TT seemed like a top notch school and I'm sure you'll do well there.
