southern vs loyola

I don't want to stay in louisiana to practice I really want to go back to nyc... there is a huge difference in price though between about southern and loyola I haven't heard some good things Southern in terms of people wanting to practice outside of Louisiana

Southern

Hi...I will be attending Southern law next year...as far as job prospects...Southern has an excellent rep in the area of Public interest law...Plus they have a tuition reimbursement program for individuals who practice in the Public sector...I wouldn't recommend Southern to a person looking to get into Biglaw {it is not impossible}...What area of law do you want to practice?. Overall the tuition is very affordable, as is the cost of living in general, and I have been told by several practicing attorney's, and even a judge, that where you obtain you law degree is not as important as obtaining the degree...This is especially true depending upon what area of law you intend to practice. Good luck with which ever decision that you make...

I work for a judge who graduated from Southern and he said the same thing about where you obtain the J.D. is not as important as to actually obtaining the degree. So best of luck to us all!

I want to do sports and entertainment law I'm really leaning towards Loyola though it is afforable I've heard that as well that it doesn't matter about your law degree as long as you have one I do kind of want to get into big law so I'm confused

I'm REALLY hoping I get into Kent my file is still under review and the fact that I haven't been rejected yet makes me hopeful! If not it's til Loyola.. if I don't get into the summer program I'm not attending law school this year..

Big Law

If you are even considering big law, then I would recommend taking the LSAT again. If you are not attending at least a T2 school your chances are slim to none for "Big Law". I know some T1 graduates from the top of their class who can't find employment, Good Luck. I wouldn't attend a "for profit" law school, most are T4s and the tuition is too expensive. Why accumulated over 100k in debt if your only job prospects pay no more than 50k on a good day.
