Extra Curricular Information

PM me for any info. I think I have great softs--but TLS and other sites make me think they're just "average" or "pretty good." Athletic ECs, several good awards, lots of honor societies / academic awards, several prestigious internships, lots of field-related work experience as well as regular work during undergrad, etc.

I can update once I know where I'm headed.

Additional info & updates

Dear Schools,

Boredom and a love for precision has caused me to update all your rankings to more accurately reflect your position in my life.

Duke: You're 28, Adrian Peterson's number, because you're fast. 21 hour acceptance? I'll take it.

Stanford: You're 51 because I was convinced putting Palo Alto's average yearly temperature would make you look tough. Instead, I'm just disappointed. Seriously--you aren't even in the 60's?

Yale: You're 1 because you're king of this city, you've always been king of this city, and you know it. Although, if this city is New Haven, Connecticut, it's really not that impressive.

Chicago, NYU, and Columbia: You're all 69 because I feel we both have something we can offer each other.

UVA and Penn: You're 101. Think Dalmations. Mostly this is because I can't tell you apart. You both have crappy LRAPs, you both hang out with Michigan, and you both probably wouldn't be here unless you paid for my application.

Berkeley: You're actually 13, but like any classy building, I put you as 12. You probably don't realize how badly I want to attend you, and you're prone to strange rejections in previous cycles so I can't count on you (note all the people in everywhere except Yale or Berkeley, or Stanford or Berkeley).

Harvard: You're the highest number LSN would let me assign you because on the first two days of JR1 emails, you've spited me. (Please call me, Harvard, please).

Mixed emotions depending on which school I'm addressing,
V6

Berkeley was all--"Hey why not?"

Dear NYU,

Somehow you convinced the hipsters I was rad enough for their neighborhood. For this I thank you.

Love,
V6

12 / 14 / 09,

Note: Penn clearly didn't read my original post.
Note 2: Withdrew from Penn

12 / 29 / 09,

Chicago acceptance. No joke here. Not that I didn't want to put one. Just very early in the morning and I'm uncreative.

1/29/09

9:41am: Jason Dugas from UVA calls, tells me I've been accepted with a 30k / year scholarship.
9:56am: Girlfriend informs me her ex boyfriend is going to UVA medical school next year. lawyerdoctorbrawl?

2/11/2009

Held at Columbia, withdrew as soon as I heard. Makes my decision that much easier, as I would rather live in the Bay Area than NYC, but might've felt a pull Eastward had I been admitted to CLS.

2/12/2009

$75,000 at Duke. Not enough to eclipse UVA, or even Berkeley at sticker given Duke's lack of LRAP. Quick withdrawal.

4/17/2010

Cycle over. Ironically, my one outright rejection was the one school I would've stayed on a waitlist for. Luckily, I loved Boalt when I went for ASW and won't be looking back.

If your profile is this funny, I'll bet your essays are great! Good luck!

Agreed!

Voided NYU and Columbia from my list too cause New York's just too impossibly expensive and overwhelming. Also, congrats on your stellar LSAT! With that GPA and even decent softs, I'm sure you'll do fantastically well.

congrats!

on duke from a fellow TLSer, doesn't it feel great?

Congrats!
Monday, December 29 2008 at 07:00 PM

Wow, Duke sure was quick! Congrats. :) If I'm getting the score I'm hoping for on Saturday, hopefully I'll know just as quickly. Good luck on your cycle!

Good luck!

Btw, I love your profile. Good luck on your cycle. Hopefully we'll both get more acceptances other than Duke.

Saturday, October 25 2008 at 08:00 PM

hey void, nice profile our numbers are similar (mine's a tad better) but your softs are better than mine lol - really hope we both have a great and successful cycle

great profile

I legit giggled outloud at your "dear law school x" notes. It's good to see someone putting a positive spin on all of this craziness. Congrats on Duke btw...I just submitted my app last week. I received the merit-based waiver but my LSAT is below the median (as they are for most of my schools)...keeping my fingers crossed on this one. Looking forward to tracking your cycle and I wish you the best!

status checkers...

...are unhealthy for me as well. And I nearly had an aneurysm for exactly the same reason.

Hilarious!

Even though my numbers are no where near yours. I enjoyed laughing my butt off while reading your profile. Good luck for Stanford!

what about NYU's neighborhood was it that you didn't like? just curious.

Duke
Monday, June 15 2009 at 08:00 PM

Completely agree on Duke. They respond to every message I send within hours, and they're blowing every other office out of the water when it comes to professionalism and kindliness. Good luck on the rest of the cycle.

Berkeley

Really?? I sent in the form for a Fee Waiver last week so I thought I would wait until at least this Wednesday to hear back and then apply. I dont think applying by the end of this week is too late.. Should I just apply now??

Thanks!

I know, you jinxed me you bastard! I am praying they get back to me by this Friday or I might just suck it up and pay to apply

Awesome.

Just wanted to give a seal of approval to your profile. VoidSix: Taking LSN neuroticism to a whole another level.

Nah
Thursday, August 06 2009 at 08:00 PM

It's more of a playful neuroticism in a joking way... I can appreciate that. Top choice? Yale has always been my #1, but I would be genuinely happy to go to any school on my list (except maybe Cornell)

Saturday, October 25 2008 at 08:00 PM

haha to be honest, i wouldnt go to Stanford or Yale if I got in for various personal reasons -- Harvard is my clear #1 choice, followed by Columbia. gl on your cycle!

Wednesday, October 21 2009 at 08:00 PM

Amused by your ADD INFO Jelouse of your stats (and ability to spell) Wish you luck (except to the schools I'm applying to, so take that as you will)

you're awesome

Thursday, April 02 2009 at 08:00 PM

were you under committee review at Penn? Congrats, btw, on the acceptances!

Thanks ...
Thursday, April 02 2009 at 08:00 PM

... for the info. Best of luck.

Saturday, December 12 2009 at 07:00 PM

god, you only got into uva because of affirmative action. dugas and friends found out that you troll tls for lupe fiasco and that pretty much did the trick for you guy. just thought you should know.
