Extra Curricular Information

I should definitely update this.

Since I have nothing to put here yet, here's the greatest joke ever:

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel hanging out of his paints. The bartender looks at him and asks, "You there, what is that hanging out of your pants?"

The pirate responds, "YARRRRRGGGHHH, it drives me nuts!"

Also, Staci's my hero and Shantal should ask Dave (Matthews, not the creepy Jew) for a letter of recomendation.

Additional info & updates

----------- The Introductory Rant:

So, I've decided that it was so much fun getting rejected the first time, that I'm going to have at it again this cycle.

First, if you're wanting to see what exactly you get when you apply late and with a lower than stellar LSAT, check out my adventures in the 2004-2005 cycle:

http://lawschoolnumbers.com/display.php?cycle=0405&user=moot

The story: I received my decline letter from UC-Berkeley sometime in early April; which basically crushed me. Berk was not so much my reach school as it was my dream school. I was seriously at the point of stalking Boalt Hall. I read their law review, perused faculty profiles, waded through volumes of information on their website, and even sent flowers to them (ok, kidding on the flowers, but you get the idea).

After forcing myself back onto my feet, I decided I could do better on the LSAT. I retook in June, 05 and came back with a respectable 172.

So, after much soul searching, I'm reapplying for the 2006 cycle. What the hell, right? I'm at the point of knowing that I will regret delaying a year, but I do not think I would regret it more than going to a school I'm just not that excited about.

So, Geronimo.

----------- The Yale Sux Rant

If anyone is reading this and has the distinct pleasure of also reading through my old profile, I think I deserve a certain explanation for my seemingly hypocritical stance on Yale.

As I stated in the Moot profile, I have no particular beef with Yale itself; rather, I am frustrated and perturbed by the system that we have all so quickly bought in to. Just weeks after reviewing my new LSAT score, I was accepted into USC and W&L. Did my somehow answering an additional 8 questions correctly truly change the quality of my resume? Did I, in the course of a mere 6 months, become 8% smarter as I climbed from the 91st percentile to the 99th? Of course not. Thus, while I will refrain from directing my anger at any particular epitome of my disdain, I have no intention of backing down from my opinion of the larger system.

Also, and this is purely for the sake of argument, Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia is excellent.

Round Two

I'll be joining you in a second round of applications. Just curious - why are you only listing your higher LSAT score? Won't many schools average the scores?

To answer the question: From what I have garnered from xoxo, LSD, and various other Law School resources (am I obsessed yet?) there are a couple factors in my favor and one major one against it: First, the bad news: 1) Regardless of whether a school considers the 172 or the 168, they must report the 168 to USNews. The good news: 1) I (and youre in this same boat) do have a pretty significant split, and that works in my favor. 2) I'm writing the addendum and I'm confident in my ability to explain. I know I have more reasons somewhere, and I'll post more when I think of them. Also, and only for the time being, Im still basking in the latest score, so just me live in my illusion for a few more weeks ;). / Matt

Bask away in that LSAT score - you deserve to! I'd like to hear more about your addendum. I don't really have an excuse for doing so poorly on my first LSAT - other than I've been out of school for a long time.

I hope you get accepted to Yale, then you can send them your rejection letter. Best of Luck this cycle! Yale Sux. and UGA(my UG) sux too.

LSAT retakes FTW.

174 or 172?

Hi Bartelby, The top says 174 but the blog part and the other account say 172. I was just wondering which one it was. Second, are you applying this cycle (2006-2007)? If so, you should know that this profile is listed under last year's cycle. Third, good luck-you have an awesome GPA and kick ass score, be it a 172 or 174. Sarah
