Additional info & updates

Iacta alea est, apparently. Best of luck to all of us.

11 Dec: Transcript processed. Still waiting on my letters of rec.

23 Dec: With personal statement polished, my apps are off. Now the waiting game begins. I'm applying toward the later half of the cycle for many of these schools, but I'm hoping the fact that my letters of rec are, near as can be told, already scurrying towards LSAC, will help me go complete in time for things to still turn out ok.

02 Jan: Received everywhere. That's a start.

08 Jan: Letters are in and being sent off to all of my schools, so hopefully I'll have some completes to look forward to in the next week or two. In other news, NYU sent me a fee waiver today, and as I no longer have to choose between applying and eating I decided to jump on top of the opportunity.

26 Jan: Duke sent me an email notifying me that my decision is in the mail; UVA did the same a few hours later. Hoping for the best.

29 Jan: In at UVA! Ridiculously excited right now.

30 Jan: Picked up my Duke acceptance packet that was lying in the mail room since last night. Fairly large folder with lots of material. Duke's acceptance has UVA's beat hands down aesthetically.

31 Jan: Complete at Harvard. Hey, at least they managed it within a month.

1 Feb: Large folder, so I'm told, from NYU--was sent to my home address rather than my school address. Acceptance letter is dated 25 Jan.

5 Feb: At decision for Georgetown via status checker.

8 Feb: Acceptance at Georgetown in the mail today, small white envelope.

13 Feb: Acceptance folder in the mail today from Columbia. Letter dated 6 Feb. This is where I was aiming when I started this whole process, so I'm beyond happy right now.

19 March: WL at Michigan. Never wrote the optional essay, so not the biggest surprise in the world.

3 April: Wailisted at U Chicago, Letter dated 23 March. Sad, but expected after their acceptances stopped going out altogether early in March. On the plus side, got a letter from UVA offering 15k a year, which makes things a bit more difficult.

16 April: Waitlisted at UPenn by email. Probably not staying on, all else considered.

22 April: Finally got the Harvard WL. Probably gonna stay on, but am already gearing up for being part of CLS '10.

3 May: Got an email from UChicago last night asking me if I was interested in being considered from off the waitlist. I replied that I'd be interested if financial aid was still a consideration. Acceptance call this afternoon, no word on what financial aid looks like at the moment. -- info is supposedly in the mail.

25 Jun: Ouch, and I almost made it through the cycle without an outright rejection letter.

In spite of your split (nice work on that by the way), I declare you the closest thing I have found to my numbers twin for this up coming cycle (except that haasi guy, but he seems awfully confident). I'll be curious to see where you end up; do you have a first choice?

Way to go!

I realized I have not yet signed your page. Good luck this cycle! The new policy is surely in our, retakers, favor. With a 10 point jump I doubt they will even look at the 170. BTW, will you be writing an addendum for that?

Wow, nice scores!

Out of curiosity...

when were your test dates? And when do you plan on completing your apps? What's your first choice? I bet the perfect score the second time around is impressive enough to the adcomms. Any particular reason you aren't applying to Stanford and Yale? Come on, you could get in if your soft factors are at all good.

I see...

Care to elaborate? I mean, I know New Haven is cold, but if you went Ivy for undergrad you've got to be used to the weather up there. Is it just a crappy town? I admit the only time I've been there, I was about 12 years old...

Hey

Hey buddy... recognized the log-in name. Kick some ass... I'm sure the insanity will begin soon enough!

Thanks, Gyges!

How's your cycle coming along? Have you gone complete yet?

T to the G!

I see you've sent the beasts off... enjoy the break, and don't fret too much about waiting for things. We can keep each other quasi-sane. I won't see you in BC, will I?

Stressful Weekend

Good luck on your Duke and UVA letters! I don't think I would have made it through the weekend wondering what they said.

congrats

on the stellar lsat scores (both are stellar, btw). did your duke e-mail say something like "let me know if there's anything i can help you with?" then it's an acceptance, no doubt. i bet uva's is an acceptance as well. congrats!

Thinking of retaking

What's your advice on how to improve your score. Obviously it can be done. Congrats on the great cycle.

Congrats on Columbia. You are an LSAT machine. I can't remember, is the Ring of Gyges cited in Republic or the Nicomachean Ethics?
