Additional info & updates

05/27/08: officially rejected at Seattle.

05/18: surprisingly waitlisted at Pacific.. withdrawing anyway.

04/15: not this year for CUNY, Vermont, or Southwestern. Perhaps in a year or two unless I get into Seattle or Suffolk and decide to go in the fall.

03/27: status checker at Southwestern changed to say that I've been mailed an offer to be placed on the wait list.

03/24: waitlisted at Suffolk.

03/05: sporatically decided to apply to Pacific today. I found out that they might match AmeriCorps education awards, so why not?

2/11: ACCEPTED at CUNY! WOO HOO! big gray envelope in the mail.

2/4: waitlisted at Seattle, rejected at UB.

I'm so relieved that I still have a chance at Seattle, but now I'm hoping even more for CUNY, Suffolk, and Southwestern!

1/30: Seattle status checker changed to "decision mailed".. and says my file was last updated on 1/25.

1/17: rejected at Northeastern, small white envelope. The letter is dated earlier than the postmark date on the mail I received yesterday. Seems pretty inconsiderate to me.

Moving on...

1/16: still no decision news from Northeastern, but I did receive a weird letter from them today. It was in a big envelope from the office of admissions, with a "time sensitive" label, but contained co-op information. The letter was from the asst. dean of career services and the director of the co-op program, ending with "I hope we have the honor and priviledge of working with you for the next three years." It's odd I'd get that so close to when I should get a decision letter for several reasons, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

12/20: I'm complete at Southwestern according to their online status checker. It also says that my file is currently being reviewed.

12/13: I emailed Suffolk a couple of days ago to make sure that they had all of my materials, since I hadn't heard anything from them. They emailed me back today telling me that I went complete on Nov30th but they haven't reached a decision yet.

12/11: email from Seattle saying that I actually went complete on the 28th of November. Their website says I should hear something within 6-8 weeks after going complete, so basically, sometime in January.

-due to yesterday's acceptance, likely not applying anywhere else. dropping rutgers and albany.

12/10: ACCEPTED AT VERMONT!!!!! via email this morning. I don't think I can quite explain my excitement, but I'M GOING TO LAW SCHOOL!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!

-definitely withdrawing from Florida Coastal, no longer applying to Cal Western. I'll calm down before I make anymore drastic decisions. :D

12/07: email from Northeastern saying that I'm complete and should have a decision on or before January 15th.

12/04: pending at SUNY Buffalo

12/03: pending at Southwestern

11/26: I think I've finalized my list, for real this time. I have an extra safety or two on deck in case I find out in the next month or so that I might need them.

11/20: home for turkey, so I'm missing my mail for a few days. I'm expecting to hear from Florida Coastal any day now, and Vermont within the next three weeks or so. I keep adding and taking away schools on my list, trying to make up my mind where else to apply! Hopefully I'll decide within the next week or so.

11/15: pending at Seattle

11/14: applications now pending at Northeastern and Suffolk.

11/7: email from Vermont saying my file is complete (guess I jumped the gun, again!) and that it's been sent before the admissions committee for review. It says the review process begins Dec 1. I've also had snail mail informing me that all applications received before Dec 1 will have a decision by Dec 21. If that's the case, hopefully I will have some good news for Christmas!

11/6: Finally sent in my personal statement to Florida Coastal, and they've confirmed that they have it. Florida Coastal, Vermont, and CUNY have all pulled my LSAC files, so hopefully I'll hear back soon.

11/5: I've discovered that I'll need to spread my applications out a bit more than originally planned, in accordance with my paychecks! I might not apply to all of these schools, but I'm not really sure yet. We'll see.

In happier news, my main personal statement rough draft is complete! I have one more essay for both Northeastern and Buffalo and then I THINK I'm done with all of my essays.

10/30: applications now pending at CUNY and Vermont.
-CUNY requires an additional hard-copy certification letter that I now must mail in.
-Florida Coastal mailed me letting me know that I need to send them a personal statement for my application to be complete. When I know they've received it I'll change my application status back to "complete".
-email from Pacific with a fee waiver. I'm thinking about taking them up on the offer as the school has a good reputation and is located in the capital of California.

10/22: fee waiver from Suffolk! The school's high on my list so at the very least that's $60 still in the bank. I'm currently working on my essays and personal statement, with the goal of having all of these applications in by the end of the month.

Yes, UB Law is truly outstanding ! If you are a NYS resident the tuition is fantastic...even if you are an out of state student it is very reasonable. There are a lot of brilliant students from IVY LEAGUE undergraduate schools here along with a HUGE DIVERSITY of talent/majors in our class. Best wishes to you !

Good Luck

Hi. Even though I'm no authority, I'm almost certain you'll make CUNY and suffolk. From your stats, I'm actually a little surprised you got dinged at Buffalo. Did you write something to the extent of not really wanting to go to Buffalo in your PS or something? I'm still waiting for Buffalo's reply and getting quite anxious. With people like you getting dinged, I'm not sure bout my chances anymore.....Anyway, congrats in advance on your acceptances at CUNY and Suffolk!!!

Did CUNY send you a big package in the mail? How did they tell you that you were accepted?

just curious

Good job with getting accepted to CUNY. Did the school send you a letter saying you completed your application? Thanks

Congrats

Congrats on CUNY. I knew you'd get in.

congratulations!

congrats on CUNY! did you find the acceptance package strange? a basic letter and some forms about vaccinations!? sheesh. do you think you'll attend?

CUNY

Well I've heard good things about VLS, so it sounds like you have two good options (atthe very least)! I'm still waiting to hear back from a lot of schools, so it's difficult to say right now. CUNY contacted me today about being at the forums in Los Angeles this weekend so I am going to go meet them and try to learn more about the school. Are you in Cali by the way?

CUNY

Wish you the best... I recently got accepted to CUNY...I'm just getting people's opinion on CUNY...I'm seriously considering going there...

This cycle sucks. It seems like we both thought our 155's would carry more weight with the schools we applied to. Good luck next year!
