Additional info & updates

Visted GW and am now leaning towards Fordham.

4-26-06 Called UCLA to see if there was any problem with my application as I haven't heard a word. The admin women very curtly told me a decision had been reach and I would get it in the mail in a few weeks--- I asked if she could just tell me over the phone (rejection like band-aids should come off quickly) And she refused. It seemed totally unreasonable not to tell me---- although I suppose if it had been good news they would have sent me an email. right?

In case you are wondering I was very polite, I know better than to be pushy--- and to be honest she was so abrupt I did not have time to be rude even if I had wanted to.

on GW! I'm not sure if you have had your Northwestern interview yet but don't worry about it too much. Mine wasn't that bad at all. Good Luck!

sorry I am not that organized but I have been posting the decision as soon as I have gotten the emails-- I will go back and add the date. I sent most of the applications in early Dec.

nice job! UW is really my first pick, but I feel like my chances are really slim (considering my numbers). I'm glad to see that you made it in, it gives me some hope. Good luck with the rest of your apps.

Thanks

for your thoughts on UMich and UCLA. I think I'm going to try and get this essay together and send in the app, maybe they'll give money, though I seriously doubt it! But if I go for that scholarship, who knows. Anyway, I'm really waiting on Berkeley and Harvard, so we'll see. Good luck on UMich! I'm sure the int'l non-prof work will help a lot. I'm pulling for you!

Fordham

Congrats! If you decide not to go there though, please do those of us a favor who are still waiting on Fordham, and withdraw your application. Thanks. :)

Fordham v. GW
Monday, January 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, I know GW is better for policy than Fordham, but I'd rather be at Fordham in NYC than at GW in DC, just a personal preference. Also I ranked after the waitlist letter, so I was pretty annoyed with GW...haha. Also, I tried to narrow my schools by region (after looking at programs) and then tried to pick at least one reach and one easier school for each of those regions...so...Harvard/BU, CU/NYU/FU, GU/GWU then kicked in Mich and Penn. Berkeley should have been tempered by UCLA, but since I was accepted at Mich and i knew I would choose there over UCLA, I skipped it. Anyway, Northwestern is in Chicago and I am not so interested in being there, though it was on my original list. I didn't want to apply to too many and make my life more stressful. That's about all. Congrats on GW...been checking about UMich every other day or so...have my fingers crossed :) Good Luck!

Brilliant work on getting into some top notch schools. Do you think you'll go with one of the UCs if admitted? I think if I get into Hastings, then that's where I'll go, cost of living be damned. It looks like you might feasibly get into a better UC school so best of luck with that.

go to UW

UW has a MUCH stronger regional repuation because its by far the best school in the northwest. As far as summer jobs/internships go, think about how saturated the market is at GWU. You have about twice as many law schools on the east coast and GWU isn't even the best school in DC for jobs. Whereas UW law school you can get just about any law job in the northwest, and i think it will travel well down to the bay area. go UW!

I found out I was waitlisted on their website--- application status page. But I think I have lost interest in them--- everything I have read makes it sound like kind of a second rate school. UW and Fordham have been so nice and so communicative, hasting has been rather bureaucratic and annoying.
