Additional info & updates

12/28/09 - Just got my LSAT score. Pretty thrilled, all things considered. Hopefully I now have a better chance than I thought at some of these schools.

12/31/09 - In at UVA, I think. I went onto the status checker to see if they had gotten my LSAT score yet, and I was shocked to discover that it said "Congratulations, you've been admitted to the Class of 2013". But so far, no e-mail, mail, or phone call...I thought they do one of those to notify you that you got in. So I am afraid they may have made a mistake...it says they made a decision on 12/30, only 2 days after getting my LSAT score. Could that be right?

1/4/10 - Applied to Harvard. I know it's a long shot and I wasn't planning on applying, but I figured what do I have to lose? Thanks to the person on here who encouraged me!

1/5/10 - Went complete at Georgetown. Hopefully that means I will hear back soon. LSAC is still dragging its feet sending out the rest of my reports.

1/15/10 - Received e-mail from Duke saying I was on the "priority reserve list." I don't know if that means I was waitlisted or just deferred away from priority track. I hope this is not a bad sign...I figured if I got into UVA so fast I'd get into Duke.

1/29/10 - In at NYU! Got the purple envelope in the mail today. Sent application on January 1st and went complete on January 20.

2/5/10 - Finally went under review at Georgetown. That took forever! I also went to complete at Stanford yesterday, after they finally received the Dean's certificate from my undergrad institution.

2/9/10 - Got my Yale application in, finally! I hope applying so close to the deadline doesn't hurt me...they say it doesn't. Also, I went under review at Penn today, and realized I went under review at Harvard a week ago, on 2/2.

2/11/10 - Went complete at Harvard. I'm a little confused, since I was told on TLS that you don't go complete until after you have a JR1, which I have not had and have not been contacted about. So hopefully this is not a bad sign. If it meant rejection, why wouldn't they just reject me now?

2/18/10 - In at Columbia! Can't believe it! I apparently got a vomit-colored envelope in the mail today, which my roommate confirmed was an acceptance because I couldn't wait.

2/22/10 - In at GW with $30,000 for the first year, renewable every year if I maintain a 3.0 GPA. Also, they offered me free housing for the first year. Man, this is tempting. Am I crazy to consider it?

2/23/10 - In at Georgetown!

3/2/10 - Georgetown sent me an e-mail inviting me to apply for merit aid. Struggling with how to respond to specific questions - I don't know if I am comfortable proposing a dollar amount, as they suggest. Also, I went complete at Yale today, so the rejection letter is probably coming soon. I hope it doesn't come on my birthday (Saturday).

3/11/10 - Dinged at Berkeley. A little bummed, but I probably would not have chosen it anyway. Note to future applicants: apply early! It seems to make a huge difference, looking at LSN profiles from last year.

3/18/10 - $10,000 per year award from Georgetown. On the high side of what I expected, but probably not enough that I can justify going there, as much as I want to.

3/19/10 - Arrived back from UVA ASW to find a letter from them offering me $25,000 per year. The decision just got more complicated.

3/22/10 - Dinged at Stanford. Not surprised, but disappointed.

3/26/10 - Withdrew from GW. It was tough, because I love DC and they made me a great offer, but in light of UVA's offer it just didn't make sense, and I didn't want to hold onto the spot out of fairness to other applicants.

4/6/10 - Received small merit scholarship from NYU. $10k for the 1st 2 years, $5k the third year ($10k if I do public interest my 2nd summer). Obviously not as big as UVA's, but at least it's something. In my heart, I think I want to pick NYU, and this makes it a little easier to justify. Note to other applicants: I wrote to them last week to tell them about UVA's offer, and I think that may have helped, since I didn't get the original e-mail about Dean's scholarships and thought I was out of the running.

4/12/10 - Found out I'm not getting any grant $ at Columbia. This may make it a little easier to justify picking NYU over Columbia, which is kind of how I was leaning anyway.

4/13/10 - Georgetown doubled my scholarship to $20k per year after I told them about UVA's offer. Now this is getting complicated...

4/16/10 - Dinged at Yale :( Totally expected, but still a bummer.

4/17/10 - Waitlisted at Harvard. Probably the same thing as a ding, but it feels better.

4/19/10 - After much agonizing and obsessing, I decided to go to NYU. UVA's offer was tempting, but I just decided NYU was the best fit. If any other DC-area people are attending NYU or thinking about it, I'm trying to put together a happy hour sometime this week.

Wondering why you're not applying to Yale and Harvard with your scores? You have a great LSAT and GPA, and sounds like you have work experience to back it up as well. BTW, I got into Georgetown with worse numbers, so you should be in there. Send in the rest of your applications, fool! :)

Congrats LSAT

Congrats on your LSAT score, twin. Those schools should be a shoe-in for you with that score.

Hey sorry I'm only now getting back to you. I definitely don't ever remember my GULC app being "under review," and I'm a pretty neurotic status checker. It just went straight to "decision rendered."

Thanks, and congrats to you too. I wanted to go to this upcoming one but it overlaps with NYU's which fits my schedule a little better. I definitely want to get out to one later in the spring.

Haha this is honestly going to be the toughest (albeit most awesome) decision of my life. How does one choose? And I wouldn't worry -- I predict that you get at least one of YHS. Your #s beat mine and you seem to have some pretty awesome softs!

Thanks!
