2/24/06 - deferred then waitlisted G-town. Small envelope, snail mail.

2/28/06 - My anxiety got the best of me and I called Berkeley. The woman I spoke to was very nice. Now I get to sit in Purgatory and fight to get off the waitlist. :(

I wouldn\\\'t be too worried about not being complete yet. It doesn\\\'t seem like they\\\'ve sent out that many acceptances yet and I got in right after I went complete, which makes me think they just send out the complete notices when they get around to it, and not when your file is actually complete. The email I got from them saying I was complete said, \\\"Given the large number of applications we receive, we request that you refrain from requesting status checks or otherwise contacting us unless the matter is urgent,\\\" . . . . . so I probably wouldn\\\'t contact them to see what is going on till the end of the month or so. Also, UCLA didn\\\'t send me ANYTHING until the acceptance email. Good luck! It doesn\\\'t look like you need to be worried.

yeah, I don't know why it is taking them so long. well, maybe I know why my app is taking so long (i have things on my resume that suggest that i am either far-left leaning and far-right leaning respectively). all i can think is that we made it through a first pass and that cant be so bad

NYU sent me a complete email pretty quickly. Congrats on your UCLA acceptance! I would love to have a CA school accept me...

I feel your pain - they sure are slow right now!! I hope they start making decisions one way or the other soon, with your high GPA you have probably a better chance than me, good luck!!

Heh. I'll ask her to put in a good word for you. Well, I would if I could, at least. Good luck - with your GPA you have a great shot at Boalt.

I was deferred to the regular application cycle as well... I fear that I'll have the same fate as you. Isn't it a total crock of ****?!?

Thank You!!

That was a lucky break for me. I know what you mean, I have been to Berkeley several times. The view, esp when the fog comes into the bay covering the bridge is awesome! But I am beginning to fall in love with the law quad at Michigan...

I am surprised

with your high gpa Boalt is waitlisting you. But given this yr's applicant drop and uncertainty there will be much movement in the WL I bet! So hang in there! As for me, I am leaning more towards Michigan for personal reasons so a withdrawal from Berkeley is more than likely... So there is one potential space to help out.

Yep, there is literally nothing we can do. I called the admissions office and said I had written 2 additional essays and had an alum write me a reccomendation -- they told that none of them would be read if I sent them in. They'll tell us May 15th whereabouts on the list we are, but thats about it. Ugh!!

i sent them a letter of continuing interest emphasizing that they were my first choice, since it probably won't hurt (and pretty much every book says that you should keep updating your file to show interest)...overloading them with additional info will probably just piss them off. good luck and keep me posted!

no IDEA what is taking them so long! I kind of hope it's that they can't decide about us, which is far better than an automatic rejection, right?
