Work as paralegal in NY corporate law firm

All money is for the total amount over three years

**11/13: 8 complete apps, waiting on BU, GW, Fordham, IU, and Gtown

**11/26: I got nervous waiting for decisions so added UW and Emory

**11/28: Phone call from U. Minnesota. I'm in! I can remember how to breathe again.

**12/4: complete everywhere but BU, GW, IU, Gtown, Emory, and Wisconsin

**12/13: Status checker at Fordham says "2nd Evaluation". The admissions office said I am in a holding pattern, having made the first cut but will be reviewed again. Finally complete at GW; they operate on an odd schedule.

**12/14: Dinged at UVA, no surprise there

**12/15: Admitted to Temple. A very nice admissions package including a scholarship on the basis that I stay in the top half of the class.

**12/17: Admitted to BC via snail mail. Their package is well prepared and very informative. Deferred at Cornell which is as positive as I could hope for.

**12/19: Official deferral letter from Fordham arrives in the mail. Honestly, the deferral letters are sometimes nicer than acceptance letters. "You are great, but..."

**12/21: Deferred at Penn, which is better than the rejection I expected.

**1/2: Acceptance phone call from Emory. I missed it because my New Jersey Transit train was 45 minutes late. I now have real geographic diversity to choose from.

**1/3: Attended IU recruitment event with alumni and professors in Manhattan. I assume that means I will be accepted.

**1/8: Received Emory acceptance package. More colorful than stately. I will have some reading to do.

**1/22: Finally received notice of completion at Wash U. Seems sort of ridiculous given that I submitted my application three months ago.
Vanderbilt's waitlist letter that was mailed on the 15th finally arrived. I'm not surprised but still disappointed. This was a small stretch school.

**2/4: Mixed day. I was accepted to Wisconsin (thin envelope) and was dinged at GW. I thought I would be waitlisted, but oh well.

**2/20: I apparently went to "2nd evaluation" on this date at Fordham. Whatever that means. It is now the 26th but have not received a letter or anything else yet from them.

**2/29: Waitlisted at Fordham according to the status checker. Waitlisted at BU via USPS.

**3/4: My application is complete at IU via email. WTF? I was told I would have a decision six weeks ago. They do not have their act together.

**3/5: Rejected at Penn. I can't say I didn't expect it. But given that I graduated from there as an undergrad I had a secret hope it would work out. Oh well.

**3/13: Accepted at Indiana via email. Official letter coming via USPS.

**3/20: I've decided not to stay on the Fordham waitlist and therefore am effectively withdrawing my application.

**4/5: Waitlisted at WashU, that took so long for that?

**4/19: Finally rejected at Cornell. Encouraged to apply to transfer next year, wtf?

Decision: I will attend BOSTON COLLEGE in the fall.

Hello, numbers twin! Your list looks great -- I'm excited to see how things go for you this cycle. I'm tied down to the Philly area for personal reasons, so I will be living vicariously through your LSN profile :-) Best of luck!

Thanks!

Did you apply to both PT and FT for Gtown, or just FT?

you seem to have casually left out that you were named in the mitchell report..

It is rough. Thankfully I have a ps3 to get me through the months ahead. Defeating and humbling those annoying teenagers in online games is strangely cathartic. I highly recommend it.

The way people know...

their future decisions is through the status checker. The status checker turns to "decision" but at most schools does not tell you WHAT decision only that they have come to a decision.

Acceptances

Wow, BC and Emory -- congrats! Hopefully some more acceptances are coming your way!

Decisions
Monday, July 09 2007 at 08:00 PM

The decisions on pending schools are just estimates of when I will receive a decision based on past cycles. I used to have that listed in my Extracurriculum Info but somehow my info got cleared.

Nice to see someone with similar numbers and a similar school having a good cycle. Good luck, and any top choices?

hi, sorry to see about your penn rejection. at least you've got some great options to choose from and who knows what can still happen! I am wondering if your Penn rejection came via email or snail mail. Thanks and best of luck to you on the rest of your cycle

congrats on BC!

Hey congrats on BC! I have decided to attend there as well. Random question about Cornell - were you originally put on hold?
