Extra Curricular Information

6-25-08:

I know it's late but I figured I might as well explain my decision and offer advice (whatever it's worth):

- It was extremely hard to decide between UF and Emory but in the end I decided that since I plan to practice in South Florida UF was the right decision for me. To be honest I am still unsure and hope I won't regret it.

- I was waitlisted at UVA, Vandy, Duke and UCLA. They each sent me letters asking to email/write letters explaining why I wanted to go there etc. and to be honest I knew I wasn't going to so I decided not to do anything. Georgetown was my dream school and when I didn't get in (which is another story in itself - why did they ask me to drive 2 hours for an interview for no reason?) I pretty much decided I didn't want to spend the money for any other school.

- I would say for people with a 166, I found this score pretty much meant being in the middle. Not an automatic rejection, but not an acceptance either, which basically meant a whole year of anxiety and waiting. If you find yourself in the same situation definitely write targeted personal statements and visit the schools that you know you want to go to. I know people with almost identical stats to mine, and just that bit of extra effort got them over the cusp and into some amazing schools.

From what I gather, after checking out last years LSN stats, because we're not presumptive admits nor presumptive denies at schools like uva, duke, ucla, and georgetown, admissions wants to wait until later in the cycle to assess the applicant pool before making a decision. That's why you see people with a 177, for instance, who applied 1-2 months after us and have already been accepted. In other words, we're going to be in agony for a bit longer I presume. Also, I'd love to hear about your georgetown interview...i showed u my e-mail in this message so hit me up when you get the chance. As number twins, I'd love to keep up with your cycle.

Congratulation of Florida! Just curious, how did they notify if you were complete? If they even did, I know you don't have a date listed. How did they give their decision. Thanks, and congratulations again, looks like you're going to have an amazing cycle! Good luck

Heya! Congrats on UF! I heard back on Wednesday too- although I received an envelope and not an e-mail. Yay! I saw that we're the only two listed as having acceptances from UF so far; do you think that's because we're undergrad UFers so they think we're more serious about going here? hmmm... anyway, good luck with the rest of your cycle girlie!

Good Luck!

Congratulations on UF, I look forward to going to complete there as soon as I trudge through their paper application process... Did you request a Georgetown interview/visit the school? That's a great opportunity, good luck. Geaux Gators!

I only applied to schools that I would be happy at, and I've invested a lot into UF in general. Just letting the cards fall at this point...

Hey there-- so, i called the admissions office because i was asked to complete an interview like 3 weeks ago, and it said someone would be contacting me, but no one has yet... So when i called, they said someone would be contacting me shortly, she's just really busy with work... which is odd. i would kinda like my application to be complete already. Anyways, how long did it take between an invitation to interview and hearing from the person??? The admissions counselor told me that it is a new initiative, and they have chosen to pick people from a wide spectrum, to see what the results are with talking with people-- they said that its a "good thing you have an interview, that means they want to learn more about you"

GULC, etc.

Hey-- I've added my email, so we can talk more closely about numbers-- I should give it to BLAHHH as well-- we are all quite similar. Anyways, I finally got that email scheduled, I'm meeting with the Alum on wednesday. Any advice?

woops i meant interview, not email

good to see you got in with me...are you set on staying in Fla? your pending list has some big names, it would be hard to tell UVA no if GULC doesn't work out, huh? anyway congrats, i'm keeping my eye on your admits since our #s are almost identical...here's to a good cycle!
