Extra Curricular Information

Worked more than I would've liked. I volunteered on political campaigns in and around the Santa Barbara area (local, state, and national) including voter registration drives. Other than that though, my extracurricular activities were rather limited due to work. Hope this doesn't hinder my chances!

Additional info & updates

4/12: Got the packet from McGeorge. I must say that it is the nicest of my admission packets up to now. It contained a personal handwritten note from the Associate Dean of Admissions and they really went all out in making it very personalized. It contained some news that I did not know. I was admitted under the legal scholars program and that they are offering me a $12,000 per year scholarship along with all my first year required books. Makes me think, but I still think that I will be attending Loyola, though I'm still waiting for USC's decision.

4/1: ...I also recieved word from Washington & Lee letting me know not to move to Lexington. Oh well.

4/1: Was starting to get frustrated with Pacific's & USC's lack of progress in informing me of my status. I called Pacific today and rather quickly got a call back from Asst. Dean Barrett (Admissions). He left a voicemail telling me to call him back. I called the school back and talked to another individual who congratulated me on being admitted to McGeorge Law. I still haven't gotten a letter from the school because my file is on the scholarship committee's desk who will be deciding on whether I get a scholarship or not.
Today I also got a letter from Thomas Jefferson with my scholarship info. They're offering me $18,000 a year for three years.

3/29: What the heck is up with USC?!! I am totally holding all my final decisions until I recieve word from them about an admit or rejection! I know they can make people wait 'cause their USC... doesn't mean they should though. Just tell me already!!!

3/21: It's been a while since I last updated. Since my last update I've been accepted to Thomas Jefferson and more recently, Southwestern. Excited that both are in SoCal. Thomas Jefferson is not one of my options at this point as I now have two options in LA, both of which are more highly reputed. Still waiting on USC with my fingers crossed... Oh yeah... I also got waitlisted at UC Davis.

3/1: The longer I wait, the more promising my prospect of admission to USC and UCI gets. If I was for sure not someone they were considering, I would have gotten the rejection a long time ago... At least it's what I tell myself.

2/25: JUST GOT THE BIG ENVELOPE FROM LOYOLA!!!!!!!!! Definitely my top realistic choice. USC and UCI are the only ones that would knock it out of first place! The gods are shining upon me today! haha

2/22: Just recieved an email from Loyola informing me that a decision has been reached on my admission! Hopefully it's good news. I should be receiving the letter via snail mail within the next two days!

2/16: Just got waitlisted at Hastings. Kind of a bummer. Lewis and Clark may be a real possibility now. Portland here I come! Untill further notice from California schools.

2/10: OMG, OMG, OMG... I got my first acceptance letter today (from Lewis & Clark)! I can't remember if this is what it felt like for undergrad acceptances! I want to say that this feeling is 100 times more AWESOME! I wonder which will be next... even if there is no "next" I am thoroughly satisfied with attending law school in Portland!

2/09: I received an email from Washington & Lee University. I was impressed. So much so that I was convinced to apply! Plus, the fee waiver was an added incentive. Who knows, this time next year I just might be in Lexington, VA! Never been further than Austin, TX from California. Any insight on that part of the country?

2/09: I recently received two more rejections (Harvard & UCLA). Though they were both definite reaches, I'm still starting to feel like the vulnerable ex-girlfriend who gets dumped before the prom. Due to my .000 batting average so far i decided to apply to a couple of more schools. One of them being a safety school (Thomas Jefferson). I really do hope that the next letter/email to come in bears some good news or I might just start pulling my hair out... I have short hair so it might be a bit difficult. AHHHHHHHHHHH!

1/28: I'm still waiting to hear from schools (besides Berkeley's big "F-U" that is). It looks like many of the schools that I applied to sent out a batch of decisions letters, as evidenced by the massive amounts of updates lately. To the schools that have yet to make a decision on me... PLEASE SAY YEEEESSSSS!!!

1/27: Just got an email from Berkeley notifying me that I was not offered a position in the class of 2013... Bummer!

1/22: Still waiting...

1/14: It's about that time when when schools are starting to contact me asking for patience regarding the admissions decision. All I can say to that is ARRRGGHHH! I just want to know already! I applied back in November and I've been dying ever since. I just hope that I get into an LA area school above all else. Getting into none of my choices on the other hand would be devastating. I doubt anyone reads this though it feels good to vent. Adios y buenas noches (goodbye and goodnight).

12/28: Just got my December '09 LSAT unofficial score via email... 157! Really wanted to break 160 but I'm ok with my score. Now it's just a matter of sitting and waiting patiently to see which school opens their arms to me. I feel like I'm sitting around waiting for a blind date to arrive.

12/23: Wasn't able to sign in for about 3 weeks! I took the test on Dec. 5th and have been on pins and needles waiting for the results ever since. Good news is I felt quite good after the test! Don't think I'll break 170 (never really thought I would though) but I would like to think that I scored better than a 148. We shall see when the scores come in. I sure hope they come in next week and not on Jan 4th, like they announced.

11/30: Well the test day is almost here (Saturday). I just hope that the work put into the Testmasters course and pays off and lands me in the 160's (at least). Once I take the test, the waiting begins...

11/17: Finally got all of my applications out. I applied to twelve schools. I know many people are applying to more but since I'm out of a job, it's all I could afford this cycle. I sure hope that the TestMasters course I'm taking helps me get above a 160. My diagnostics have me right below 160 but I've still got a few more weeks of class and preparation.

11/9: I know my numbers aren't ideal. Especially my LSAT score. That can be explained by the fact that I was teaching full-time and a full-time student at the time that I first took the LSAT in February. I am registered to retake it again in December. I've been taking a prep class and am shooting for a 160-165 on my next try.

good luck on your LSAT in Dec... This will be my 3rd time taking it so I know what it's like to sit through that exam more than once... I'm sure the class will help

Good luck in December!

Hi there. We applied to a lot of the same schools! I, too, re-took the LSAT, and I remember that agony well. It sounds like you're working hard in your prep course; I did the same, and went from low 140's in Oct 08 to low 160's on the Sept exam. I think studying and prep courses really do pay off, so I wish you good luck but doubt you'll need it if you're hitting the books/solid numbers on pt's!!

Keep your head up!

Just keep being positive and the acceptances will start coming in. I hope the rest of your cycle is great and that you have plenty of schools to choose from : )

Congrats on your in at Portland! Lexington, VA is worlds away from California/Austin/Portland so make sure you check it out if you ever get serious about it:)

Thank You! I went complete in late November (I believe) and feel lucky to have gotten in full time. For your reference, there was no indication that I was in (i.e. no phone call, email, etc.). There was just a decision rendered and then a package in the mail a few days later. I feel like you will def get in, as I believe after reading a magazine from them in my acceptance package McGeorge prides themselves on holding a high median LSAT and you will help that. Best of luck!

Hey i'm still waiting on USC, too. Do you think you'll end up at Loyola? I probably will if USC doesn't accept me.

Ooops

Didn't read your updates. Looks like it's Loyola for both of us, save an acceptance from USC.
