Presented Philosophy Paper at National Conference, also was topic of my PS

Worked 20+ Hours Per Week in UG

Additional info & updates

So far acceptances from the following:

WCL - priority mail package
UMD - priority mail package
Richmond - phone call from dean of admissions
Catholic - email, on Christmas eve, no less.
GWU - Email accepting me to the part time division. Totally not expecting that!

12/30/07 - After much internal debate, I withdrew from GMU. Since the GW acceptance, I did not want to mess around with getting locked into ED at a worse school. So, for now, I am attending GW unless, of course, UVA comes calling. Total pipe-dream, I know, but, hey, I thought GW was too.

1/2/07 - Email from GMU confirming my withdrawal.

1/4/08 - Received acceptance packet from GWU. Honestly, I am psyched about this school.

1/15/08 - Email from Catholic offering me a Faculty Merit Scholarship in the amount of 15k per year w/ top 25% requirement. Exciting!

1/22/08 - Well, I got the status update email from UVA. A decision has been made on my application. I fully expect a rejection, but here's to hoping. Hey, at least I will know where I am going to law school in the next few days.

1/24/08 - Oh well, first rejection from UVA. Can't be too disappointed considering it was a super-reach.

1/30 - Decided to withdraw my name from consideration at Catholic and Richmond. Both schools were, what I like to call, "disaster schools." That is, I would have attended them if some disaster or another befell my other applications and I did not get accepted. I appreciate the $ from Catholic, but GW is very hard to turn down. American and UMD are still in the running for financial leverage reasons.

2/21/07 There really is no way that I am not going to GWU, so I have changed its status to Attending, but am still waiting on W&L and want to peek at financial aid packages from American and UMD.

3/28/2008 - I have to say that I am psyched that the rankings came out and GW is up two spots.

4/1/08 - WD from W&L today. Honestly, I didn't particularly want to attend, but not hearing a peep from them about my application for over 5 months really leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Hi. I don't know if you check this site anymore now that you are in school. But, we have eerily similar numbers and experiences such as working at a firm and presenting research paper, etc. Were you surprised about GW? Do you have any guesses what "sealed the deal" for you? I am hoping to have a similar success story. Thanks and congrats on your successes.
