I spoke with a professor who bounces on and off the admissions committee and he told me that it looks just as good as a high profile academic extra curricular; he said that most admissions members will place importance on the time commitment aspect and the strains that travel, practice, etc. puts on academics.
Thanks! I'm just anxiously awaiting my LSAT results from last Saturday. That will help me narrow down my schools a lot. Have you taken it yet?
I just looked online and I get my score on Monday, what about you?
Thank you for your best wishes! I do hope the military experience helps out and the fact that I took the LSAT while in a combat environment. With your GPA I wouldn't worry too much about scores, you will do great! I just updated my list a lot since the Army will only pay for state schools! Keep in touch and BEST OF LUCK!!
Hi! I'm so glad you messaged me. I really think being an athlete helps significantly - whole time management, discipline, handling pressure, etc... We're applying to a lot of the same schools (I still have to update mine) Good luck this cycle!!
hey! thanks for the message. hear hear to soft factors, good luck!
Thanks for the consolation. You look like you changed some schools you were applying to? Are you going with all the schools that are on your list?
Good luck with your applications too! I have already hit a bump in the road during this application cycle; UGA rejected me! I will add you to my watchlist as well. Good luck once again!
Well you never know with the big schools either, you may have certain attributes which UVA desires. You never know until you apply. Good Luck! Georgetown and Vanderbilt are both a few of my "dream" schools. I'm not sure where I want to end up practicing law. I am actually looking to leave California and would not mind practicing law in any of the states (or D.C.) that I applied. I was in N.C. a month ago to visit Wake Forest and UNC, and I could definitely see myself practicing there. So I am still uncertain of where I would want to end up. What about you?
Hey there, haven't heard from you since your initial message, did you hear anything yet? I just heard from Florida State - good news - at least I know I will go SOMEWHERE next year!
I'm still waiting on an LOR from a professor too. It's really frustrating because he offered to do it in the first place. And here it is almost the middle of November..he is really starting to stress me out.
Hi numbers match. It also looks like we have some schools in common. I added you to my watch list.
thanks for the shout out, dude. good luck with the cycle; I'll try to keep up with your apps. I like the athlete angle--I wish LS admissions was more focused on soft factors.
You have a really interesting list of schools...lots of them where it seems like a great place to spend 3 years of LS. What sport did you play?
Don't know your story, don't know anything not on this page... but I'm thinking maybe an LSAT retake could pay off in a huge way. I have a classmate who went from your stats to a higher 160s number on the Feb. LSAT, and it meant tens of thousands of $. Of course, it might not be right for you.
I thought you applied to Cooley?
Haven't been an athlete since middle school, but I've always been amazed by how dedicated college athletes are...I was an RA for a bunch of D1 championship lacrosse players, and it was amazing how much work they did. Congrats on TN, btw!
unreal - you are on a roll! I'm so happy for you!!!! Keep in touch and I hope to hear from those schools soon myself!
Congrats!! Must be the best feeling!
I saw your profile during the day yesterday and it gave me hope that maybe, just maybe, an MD letter would be on the way for me too! I want to go to Cali if someone over there is willing to accept me... if not I'm happy to go anywhere that I get in. Here's to hoping for more good news for both of us.
Good luck on your cycle from one Fitzgerald fan to another. =)
You're hearing from the schools that I can't wait to hear from and I keep hearing from schools that I would only attend if I didn't get into my top choices...I'm jealous...haha! I guess I should just be happy that I'm getting in somewhere!
I would say that Maryland is pretty high up there - Tennessee would be nice as Nashville is AWESOME but I would certainly pick Maryland over my current choices! Again, CONGRATS! Oh yea and how did you hear from Maryland?
I'm still in shock. I can't believe that just happened. Best of luck with the rest of your cycle. I'm withdrawing asap - maybe that will help it go a tiny bit faster!
...on Richmond - hope you see some $$ - you are on a roll!
On your success so far in this cycle. I hope more is to come for you!
For the congrats, but I still need quite a bit of luck to get into any t-14s (my ultimate goal) it's so late in the cycle!!! I'm sure you'll do a lot better than you expect, hopefully we both exceed even our best expectations! Did you apply to all the schools on your list?
hi, we have similar numbers and schools, best of luck and i'll be looking out for you!
Good luck to you this cycle! I'm completely in the "please look beyond the numbers" boat.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I guess I didn't write that as a plea for sympathy but more just expressing my frustrations in writing in one of the only forums that I am on. I really hope that I start getting more decisions soon (and hopefully positive ones). I am keeping my fingers crossed for both of us! Again, congrats so far and keep em coming!
Thanks for the good wishes - same to you. W&M had a really quick turn around and your app was complete pretty early on, so i bet you'll hear soon. W & L on the other hand was a huge pain b/c of that Dean Certification form, so you'll probably hear before me. Good luck.
I got my first rejection this week, too. I guess you can't win them all. You've got some good ones already though. Good luck on the rest.
I'm excited for you and Vandy! With a little patience I'm sure you'll get the result you were looking for.
I'll give IP law a shot, but right now my thought is to do environmental law, especially as it applies to high tech industries and energy policy. What about you?
hey hey! Congrats there!
I was hoping you would get into GW as that would give me hope with my chance given my numbers! At least you fared better than I did with George Mason which means I am probably doomed w/ GW! Finally heard from Maryland though and was pretty stoked but UCONN sounds really good now as it is in-state and I am a veteran so it would be 100% FREE! That is most definitely appealing! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND KEEP ME POSTED! I haven't heard from you in a while, thought you had disappeared!
Saw you got another acceptance. Hopefully they keep coming in!
I'm curious to know what you loved about Maryland. .. My wife really wants to be on the East Coast so I'm trying to figure out if it is worth my while to stick it out on the waitlist....
I'd love to hear you talk about Maryland. Blabber away! In all seriousness, I suspect I have some of your concerns about UMD, baltimore, selecting the right school, etc. Looking forward to hearing from you. steve
Where are you considering favorably? Are you going to be in the DC area next year?
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to visit GMU this weekend, but I am already leaning towards MD for the reasons you mentioned as well as their highly ranked enviro law program. So we'll see. One other consideration for me was I have several friends at MD who were able to get in-state residency by their second year... not sure if it's that easy in VA (I'm a NJ res) Have you made any decisions?
I'm sick and tired of these schools waitlisting you. I'm rooting for you though!!!
Here's an idea. Let's both go to Charlottesville and let them know why student-athletes are superior law school candidates and that we deserve more than a waitlist!!!
Congrats on Maryland. I was wondering if you know how well maryland holds up in Va and the Dc area. I have been aaccepted by both UNC and maryland and I really like Maryland, but don't know a lot about it. I am from NC and would practice on the east coast between new york and va. Good Luck and maybe we will both end up at maryland.
Haha, I like your humor. Today marks the day I am withdrawing from UVa. I wish you the best of luck!!! p.s. I'm much stronger than you, and I'll give you the benefit on the looks.
it looks like we'll be in the same class next year ... congrats on maryland!
I fully expect that if I come to Baltimore that you will have a handle on the city and be able to show me a good time. The effort will be reciprocated if you ever come to DC.
thanks for your congrats! congratulations to you too! i'm so excited! :D
yes, i visited baltimore last year and i re-visited baltimore to check out the school and stuff about a month ago for the admissions reception. i was very impressed with both the school and the area!
Hi. I noticed we have a similar index for William and Mary. Have you heard anything from them about the waitlist? Jsut trying to figure out how they are going to handle this big WL :)
Thanks. Good luck to you too! I do hope our major counts for something. I literally have no idea how many Classics majors apply to law school. Did you take any latin or ancient greek?
