Additional info & updates

12/07 - Big white envelope from SIU!!! First acceptance! Behind U of I it is my next top choice! Very excited to get in somewhere. My husband surprised me with the envelope at work - i was freaking out! :) 1 for 1!

12/16 - Big white envelope from Valpo. Applied as a safety school but got in so that helps the confidence a little. Offered me $$.

1/11 - Deferred from Indiana - Bloomington. "For further review - not accepted or rejected" It said I probably wouldn't hear anything until April. Guess we will wait and see...

1/17 - Found out that I qualify for Veterans Affairs to pay for law school in Illinois b/c I am in the National Guard and have enough federal service to be eligible. Narrows my attendence to IL but that is where I wanted to go anyway. So its SIU, NIU or U of I and I have already heard back and been accepted to 1! I am very excited about this!!

1/24 - FINALLY some news from somewhere - this wait is killer! Small white tasteful envelope from UK. Again, didn't plan on attending but applied anyway so not too upset.

1/25 - Accepted to U of Louisville via large white envelope. Out-of-State but still nice to be accepted.

Still waiting for U of I...its a long shot but I haven't given up hope yet!!

1/27 - Email from U of I stating that I was not rejected or accepted but was put in a "HOLD" pile for a second review. any ideas? What are my odds? I would do anything to get into U of I so any advice is great!

2/2 - small white envelope accepting me to Indiana @ Indianopolis full time day program! Have plenty of options now. :)

2/9 - small white envelop rejecting me from Wisconsin. C'mon U of I!!:)

2/12 - phone call from Dir. of Adm at NIU offering me admissions! :)

I am glad you were not upset about UK. I was, although it was not the school of my first choice. Glad to see acceptances. Good luck. You will make it!!! :-)

Curious, how much inbetween time did you have between having a complete file with UofL and them sending you their decision?

Well, I don't think a phone call with the waitlist guy will bode well for me. I believe Bopbop had more of a concrete reason for going there since it was her #1. I on the other hand would need to do some more targeted research. Then follow up with a continued interest letter of some sort later on.

Definetly do something to let them know that you are still out there and haven't committed to another school yet. You should either write a letter of continued interest, explaining why the U of I is your first choice and why you would go there if accepted. You should also mention what you can bring to the school. Obviously you have some work experience that would make the student body more diverse. Bring it up and really sell yourself. If you want to more than just send a letter, definetly call and see what else the admission committee reccomends you do. They were very open and helpful when I called. Good luck to you!

Hi, Just wondering if you went to Indy's Open House. Their last one is on Tuesday and I was thinking about going, but wasn't sure if it would be worth the drive for only an hour. Any thoughts about the school? Go Illini--I'm currently a senior at UIUC, too :)
