I know how you feel about hte LSAT, i didnt do good the first time and I hope I did the second time, youll deffinitly get into cooley and can always transfer. Im sure youll get into some other schools as well, good luck!
I retook last weekend so we'll see. John Marshall doesn't have the greatest reputation but at the same time it is what it is. It's been around since the 50s or something in atlanta and lost accreditation at one point but now is ok. I do know that many successful lawyers in the Atlanta area graduated from there. A law degree is a law degree, you just hope that it prepares you for the bar. Good luck to you and keep in touch.
Thanks for the nice words, I was in Nova's conditional program this summer but my medical condition caused me not to be able to finish it, I passed the first class but was not able to take the second and thehy did not let me take it after even after my situation. I applied to St Thomas and Barry last cycle and was dinied there, but not John Marshall. Barry wants 149+. The list I have on my profile isnt up to date and im awaiting for my scores to make it more accurate. I most likely will take the LSAT again for the third and last time im allowed within a 2 year period unless I do 15-20 points higher. I know I have what it takes and if I can cake walk 2, 2L classes in 6 weeks then I should be allowed to go to somewhere lol.
If I get a 142 I will try to start Cooley in May if I get dinged everywhere else, If i get better than that I will apply to a lot more schools and hopefully get somewhere in florida

I also got my rejection letter today for spring 07.I am so disappointed and heartbrokent coz i really wanted to go there. Are you thinking of re applying for fall 07?Good Luck on other apps.
What special programs have you applied to at Hofstra and other schools?
thanks for the kind words, im thinking about taking the Feb LSAT as well and taking a prep course locally, called blackstone, itll be my last time I can take the LSAT but if I can increase again 6 points or more then ill be in better shape.
do you have aim or anything, would like to chat with you if your ever free, later
you might also try Oklahoma City U. They're in our range, too.
I was actually waitlisted at OKCU last cycle. While pending, they sent me info on an alternate summer admissions program (asap). It's two non-credit courses through the summer, but if you pass them, you're in for the Fall. If you get waitlisted, let them know you're interested in it. Also, since I called the admissions department with stalker-like regularity last year, I've come to know they are extremely helpful and personable. As far as OK itself goes, I live at its northeast corner, just into Missouri. I don't have a whole lot of experience with Oklahoma, except with their criminals...ha ha. My take is, I'm spending the money to do this, so I'll take wherever I can. Let me know if you need anything else or you can email me.
Damn I'm surprised you got dinged by Florida Coastal, doesn't give me much hope as we're about the same index. Good luck with the rest of your schools though, hope to see more "accepted"s in weeks to come.
thanx for the comment. can u e-mail me? id like to ask you something that id rather not share with the rest of lawschoolnumbers.com -thnx
I took the Princeton Review course this summer to Prepare for the Sept. LSAT. My lowest practice test score was a 164, highest 171. I ended up with a 155. My pacing was right one, and my technique was perfect according to the class. The test did feel different though. I felt scammed out of my money, big time. I had a really good test day, nothing in particular went wrong. So, I can't really explain it. But I hear you. Just getting in to a single law school is an accomplishment these days. Ha. I know you'll wind up somewhere that fits you! Keep your chin up!
i was scammed by princeton review too :)
I'm thinking of applying to work for them... were your teachers at least good? I have a lot of teaching experience. I also took the June LSAT, but no prep class. I think I'm just well suited to that test.
Congrats on Cooley. I know it's not much but atleast you know you can go somewhere! I hope you get accepted to Southern Illinois!
keep the faith, that is still an impressive GPA.
where did u find those predictions from??
i know everything 101 on aample, how? because i was in it, i left after the first test because of my medical condition, im me again sometime and ill answer ur questions
everyone in the program "believes" what it takes, you must study 14+ hours a day straight for 6 weeks, the teachers dont help you, and only 9-10 of about over 100+ get accepted. I would have made it, i aced one test but my medical condition inhibited me from taking the second, but i passed the harder of the two. You will end up spending 6000+ between hotel, the program which costs 3000, and tons of books plus supplementals, they do not teach you how to brief, how to write law school exams, and if you dont learn the tricks of the trade, you will fail, many people i know who failed aample went on to law school anyway but their emotions were devistated. To be honest other than novas technology there is nothing special IMO of it, its only a tier 4 school anyway, in the end the choice is you, but i honestly dont think its worth it, every law author, lawyer, ect... told me the program is bs and is a rise to the cream of the crop and is like being thrown in deep sea without knowing how to swim. If you want more info just im me...
you can still technically sign up for the LSAT and take it late, I would do so, im taking a good prep course and have already raised my score 10-11 points of my diagnostic, and 5 from what i got on my last test, 9-11 more questions and I will have a 150, i am bad at standardized tests, just somethign to throw out there to you
^ | | Thanks for the comment! It's so nice to know that someone believes in us low LSAT people! I wish you and everyone else the best of luck this cycle!
Your profile is awesome, wish I had the attention to detail that you have. Congratulations on your success so far, hope that you get your number one choice. This was my second time through the cycle, my first was 0 acceptances, 3 rejections. I was really nervous that I would have similar results this time around. Best of luck as a 1L next semester.
If you are waitlisted and you have the opportunity, go meet the admissions people at the school. I know for a fact that Widener and Drexel only accepted me because they knew me personally. Constantly calling, emailing, even dropping by just to get a little face time. In the end it paid off. My score was wayyyyy to low for Drexel, but they liked my persistence. Keep pushing, don't give up. Make sure you meet the people in admissions and talk to them about your interest in the school.
for you! waitlists are great signs, and a defferal! Watching your profile give me hope, since we have similar sumbers, but ur lsat is higher by 4 points, but im retaking in feb, applied to tonnnnnnnns of more schools too, have faith in god and listen to what legallatin said, hes right, and dont do any conditional bullshit, trust me :), youll make it!
When you visited Nova did you get to speak to anyone about your interest? I am interested in Nova and I don't know if they are going to accept me with my low LSAT and I feel like I should try whatever I can... any help is greatly appreciated... good luck
I am sure you will get into several of the schools you have left. I'm pulling for you.
Ranking San Diego law school is pretty easy. USD is easily #1. Cal Western in my opinion is #2. Leaving TJSL as the third. TJLS just needs some more time to establish itself. its newer and its bar passage is not so good. I withdrew my app from TJSL because I was pissed they put me on hold... Not a bad school, I just dont have time to be waiting around for them to decide if they want me... Cal Western has a newer library. To me TJSL seems a little older. Its hard to say which is better. Finish Top 10 and it wont matter which school you went to.
If you get into CWSL go for it, it has a better rep/bar passage than TJSL. And they have the BEST library in town, people are very nice as well.
Instead of going through the AAMPLE program, why don't you do a year in Cooley and transfer. It will save you the money and aggravation of being placed in a program that has a low success rate. I think you will do well you seem focused. Hopefully you will have another option but if not try Cooley, its better then putting your money into something that's designed for failure.
never knew they had an aample program, thats cool, but one of your WL or deferrals will be an acceptance. I took my LSAT again yesterday and havent really heard from anyone like you have, good luck
im confused, i thought you didnt take the feb LSAT? or are you saying your deffered because they are waiting for everyone elses Feb LSATs. The Lsats are always released before it says, so either last week in Feb or Beg of March. id find something to get ur mind off it because ur results could take as long as May to get sometimes. Be happy!
No I don't plan on going to the Open House...I am still waiting to hear back from U of I (GO ILLINI!!!:) and if I dont get in there, I am going to SIU or NIU. It might be worth the drive if you are really interested in going there though. What i should do is withdraw so you can have my slot!! :) I'll do that today,...GOOD LUCK!!
I did not attend an open house. I did, however, tour the building last August where I was able to talk with an administrator about the admissions process. The facility was impressive and visiting it made me confident in my decision to apply. I would definitely drop by if you get a chance. You don't necessarily have to visit during an open house-just send an email to an admissions officer and schedule a date that works for you.
FIU is a really up and coming school. The state is dedicated to making as strong as possible as possible. It is the fastess school ever to earn full accreditation. If u decide to go expect to battle tons of traffic in SoFL and extreme prices for everything save the school.
I decided to apply out of state just because I wanted to get outside of Florida for a while. The older I've gotten the more I appreciate the great things this state has to offer, especially the weather. I think 4-5 years living a midwestern or PNW state will give me a new appreciation for the American way of life, sounds cheesy but I want to experience living in another state before I decide where I want to settle down.
I'm not going to the open house b/c I'm most likely not going to IU Indy. I've been told it's great for healthcare law and is very under-rated and overshadowed by IU Bloomington. Good luck with your decision.
But what's AAMPLE? It says you were accepted to these programs, but I don't know what they are. I know it must be a stupid question..sorry in advance. Also, congrats to you on braving it out with a less than exciting score. I think schools will see your past involvement and your desire to learn and look past your score. Your GPA alone tells them that you are a smart, capable person. Best wishes!
I retook the LSAT and did a much better job the second go around. I had a 157, which wouldn't have gotten me into the schools I wanted to attend - retook my kaplan course, studied my butt off and got a 166 the second time around. It might be worth it to take it one more time! Best of luck to you!
noticed weve got similar numbers good luck with everything id be happy goin to nylaw or nova
just wanted to send u some good luck wishes! dont let the test discourage u.. it really means shit!! and from what i am told, it is pretty useless! haha! u will be successful!!! my suggestion, if u dont get off the waitlist somewhere, try ur ass at a conditional program and if it doenst happen, go to cooley! and seriously, cooley is not a bad school!!!!!! if u can cut it (which seriously, u will have NO PROBLEM) you will be set bc the school is known to be pretty difficult!!! so i mean, it isnt a bad option!! i am thinkjing about tacklin the beast again...
well, i think i would have to go with coastal.. sports law program.. great area.. i think i would get connections and with my degree i would have no problems of finding a job... i would like the california dram to come true, but with my lsat score, that isnt possible (at a good school that is) have u heard anything about la verne or western state???? honestly, its a good thing u didnt get into cal western! i would go to western state over them!!! they weed out half the class!!! and i hear they dont give a crap about the students.. i wish i didnt apply there now!
I got deffered at two schools, a sign of hope, im curious what did you touch on in your file or anything important did you stress, just wondering so maybe i can get as many deferals and waitlists as you, thanks
I guess I did the same thing pretty much, worked since I was 15 and a lot of stuff too, and as you know im disabled currently so I have suffered some disadvantages as well. Do you know if a deferral is better than a waitlist? I know that either is better than a rejection, so ill take it
Thanks for taking pics of FIU and sharing them!!! Did you meet with anyone from admissions when you went there to talk about your deferral? I am super interested in the school so Im curious. THANKS!
I just read lawschoolboys' post regarding further info about FIU. Is he on this thing b/c I can't find him and did he give you any info? SORRY TO BE SUCH A PAIN!
congrats on your continued success. I think you should give New York Law a serious thought. Their graudates start somewhere in the range of 50-60 K. It can be more than that. Most of our apps are at the same schools. Can you plz share FIU pics with me. feel free to email me. thanks
thanks for sharing the pictures. I have also applied to FIU. It is my top choice thus far in Florida Schools. The school received ABA full accredition in record time. I thought NYLS acceptance is for regular program. I am also skeptical of these conditional programs. And i understand the cold weather issue. I also want to go somewhere warm unless its NY/NJ. Good Luck and hopefully you will get into one of your top choices.
Coastal has AAMPLE?
Coastal has AAMPLE?
I definately think you should take nyls' offer. it's your best school.
Are you going to end up doing the AAMPLE program through one of the schools that offered it? We have similiar numbers, and seem to be in similar situations. So far, I am doing it through NY Law, and I am real nervous about it, but it seems like the only opportunity I have at this point. Best of luck with the schools you still have pending :)
between SLU summer and NIU fall, I'm leaning towards SLU and sent them my 50 dollars a while back but they have not cashed the check yet or sent me info about housing or the program start dates. Well in any case, we'll talk soon.
When NIU was in the 3rd tier I was consideribly more interested because of the cost of tuition but as it stands I don't think I can pass up SLU regardless of the tuition
Thanks for correcting my typo. Best of luck to you.
Hey, I have a semi-stupid question! When you called the schools you still had pending applications at, how did you word it? I think I am gonna call Touro, but I want to come off the wrong way! I honestly cant't wait any longer, I applied in January, plus the money for AAMPLE is due so soon! Thanks so much for your help and advice!
Tax season is just ending and I've been so busy. I will be letting FIU know next week. Best Wishes! Scott
Hey, I ended up calling Touro this morning, and they told me a decision hasn't been made on my file. This is pure torture! Thanks again for all your help and advice! :)
I received an acceptance letter in the mail on Friday 4/20.
Thanks for the congrats. SLU was definitely one of my top choices due to their health law program so I am excited to start in the Fall! Quick question though, have you visited the campus yet? Because I almost revoked my acceptance based on my reception from the admissions staff and their financial aid advisor. The building was so-so, they let me sit in on probably the worst an most boring constitutional law class offered, and then informed me that I would not be able to meet with any health law staff since they were all "busy." I was shocked! But then I talked to a woman in the Career Services department, Mary Pat, who was very reassuring and helped me to realize that I was making the right decision. It was quite the taxing experience though! I was just curious about the experiences that other people may have had during their visits?
glad to see your things are working out, mine arent so far, just a waitlist and a conditional and lost both deferals, still waiting for cleo though
hey! congrats on getting into a school you wanted. i noticed you were accepted to udc-my number one choice. if you don't want to go-plz release your spot. thanx. again, congrats!
Thanks so much! Best of luck to you.
SLU is an awesome school. Best of luck to you as a 1L. Is it a conditional acceptance program?
Wow, that is awesome! That was what I thought. I think IU-I has a similar program. You will do great. Congrats again. I remember how scared I was at the start of the cycle (over my LSAT being sub-par). I thought I would get nothing but rejection letters. It really feels great to end up with one of your top choices. =)
Hi there rsiegert, I had a chance to visit St. Louis, and I was very impressed. Would you please give me some insight on the Summer Program at SLU? Any piece of advice would be greatly appreciated.
I feel you on the 144, I made the exact same score. Are you retaking? I retook last weekend and felt like I did a lot better but we'll see. Hopefully I'll see you at John Marshall next year.
