Additional info & updates

I got a 159 on the September LSAT. I retook in December and got a 162. It was much closer to my practice exams. I am hoping I didn't apply too late.

I submitted Denver's app on the 8th of January.

I submitted Colorado's app on the 10th of January.

1-18-08: I got an email that I was complete at Denver. I emailed them asking when I would know if I was complete and they replied that I was.

01-24-08: I got an email saying I was complete at the Univ of Colorado today. They also said to not call with questions regarding app status. I am kinda bummed, I wish they would at least let you check your status online.

01-28-08: Today Denver emailed me and said that I could check the status of my application online with an ID and password they gave me. I was disappointed when I logged in and it said, "under review". It also said in the email that final decisions would not be posted in the login area. Why would they give us a login if we can't view acceptances or rejections? I just want to know, sorry . . . I am venting! I want to know I got in somewhere.

01-31-08: I really want to make the choice between Denver and Colorado. I NEED AN ACCEPTANCE!

02-13-08: Accepted at Denver today via email! I called yesterday and the lady at the front desk said I would be notified by mail and it wouldn't be email. I got an email today saying I was accepted. I am quite excited. I really want to have to choose between Denver and Colorado though. I am praying for an acceptance from Colorado. I also am hoping for a scholarship from Denver.

02-15-08: I got my acceptance package from Denver. There was a paper that was dated the 12th with a scholarship offer for 15,000 a year. I am pretty excited about it.

3-18-08: I am dying for some news from Colorado. I want to get in badly. Just send me some word!

3-25-08: Right now I am slightly in favor of Colorado over Denver, but I am going out there this weekend and that will help me make a choice. The instate tuition at Colorado looks nice, but the scholarship and location of Denver are also nice. I am rather split, but Colorado seems like the wiser choice. We shall see though, I may not need to make the decision. There have been an awful lot of waitlists and rejections lately, so who knows.

Denied at CU: I am not extremely disappointed. I more just wanted to say that I had the option of both. I was split as to which school I wanted to attend, but my wife emphatically wanted to attend DU, so that makes that choice easier.

I also went to DU's Admitted Student Weekend and was impressed. I am excited to attend. My wife and I found a great apartment in Lonetree also.

4-18-08: DU emailed me today after I called them about a week ago. They decided to give me an additional 5,000K a year, making the total 20,000 dollars a year for tuition. This would have swayed me in Denver's favor regardless of the CU denial. I am pretty happy about this.

7-7-08: I looked online and I was given a 10,000 dollar grant, so I will pretty much not be paying for tuition for the first year (3,000). I am just extremely happy with how this turned out. It is a best case scenario!

No those are the only ones I have applied to so far. I have a more complete list now. The only others not on there I am applying to are UCLA and Duke. I am probably going to stay in state but I thought I'd at least give the others a shot.

I've read that they are generally a lot more generous with people from in-state or from the region, and especially with DU grads, but its probably that as well. I was out there this summer and its a beautiful new building for the school.

congrats

I had them up, but then got paranoid with all the people saying how admissions people check the site. Stupid I know, but better safe then sorry. My numbers are 167/3 - I'll give them to people if they ask, just hesitant to make them public until i hear from a few more places

Congrats!

On getting into DU. May I ask how you were notified? It looks like our apps were complete around the same time. Thanks!

Hey, I don't think I'm getting any money. I haven't heard anything yet, and my big packet came with no $$ offer. I have to say I'm a little shocked and disappointed. I don't think UD is in my future. I even called Karen H. at the admissions office, and she hasn't called me back, which leads me to believe no news: bad news. But I'll let you know. Who knows, I might get into CU, right? (right.)

CU Fam Law
Thursday, October 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

CU has a specific juvenile & family law PROGRAM- Greater course availability, research opportunities, and the chance to receive certification indicating concentrated study in the area. Most schools have family law classes, and a few have family law clinics (like DU), but I think CU (& possibly Loyola Chi.) have the most structured fam. law programs.
